Agreed! At the beginning of the pandemic, my son came home from school to quarantine with me and my boyfriend and my guy had to tell him to not bother me while im doing my self care Sundays 🙃! And when he went back to his own apartment (whew chile!) He started doing his own self care routines!
My parents demonstrated this to my siblings and me. I show what my parents showed me to my teenage children. Especially on the bad days I dress my best and attempt to look my best and just doing that makes me feel better. Great tips!

I went through this spell of not taking care of myself for years...just going through the motions until the end of 2020...it's like I had woken up out of a long ass dream lol but every since then, I've been taking care of myself mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. It's not always easy but it's definitely worth it.
Yea it be like that sometimes life has a way of really dragging us under if we let it and instead of living we just survive and press on... But at least you were able to wake up so to speak and see that taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of everyone else 🙂

I've always been a casual dresser but during/post pandemic I've turned super casual. One day I went to drop off some supplies to an older lady that goes to church with my mom. The lady had her hair done, light makeup, pretty jewelry and had a nice lounge set on (she wasn't going anywhere). Lol I was so embarrassed, I hadn't wore anything but sweats and leggings for over a yr at that point. I had to see a woman in her 70s out doing me to realize I REALLY fell off. It was a good wakeup call.

I struggle with anxiety for years but I will not let my looks go. I'm home a lot so even when I go out to Wal-Mart or anywhere I like to look decent. Just because I'm going through it doesn't mean I should look like I'm going through it.

Facts. If you are unrecognizable after make up, that’s called being in Drag. No disrespect to Drag Queens as a Teenager I had an adult drag Queen friend who actually taught me how to put my make up on and do eyebrows. So don’t come for me DragQueens. Just have different makeup needs.
Yeah, no shade but a lot of women are starting to look drag/trans because of the heavy makeup. Men need heavy makeup to exaggerate the feminine look they are going for. Women do not. 90s glam was amazing for Black women, imo and I wish we’d go back to it.

My mom is the same: single parent of 4, almost 60, working and always on fleek (Black moms don't play 😊) . Self-care is so Essential. I can't express that enough. I found out the hard way when I was caring for my Sickle Cell Anemia son and then both of my parents before their deaths and the Arrangements after to give them all their respects. I'll do it all again if I had to, But I had forgotten how to take care of myself because I didn't take those gaps in time to do so. So whenever you're going through hard times Please always allow, even if a smidgen, time to care for yourself. I love how you mentioned to "Pour into Yourself. " You have to replenish because if you keep pouring out you'll find yourself in negative spaces.
for me what helped me after a whole life of depression and lack of self care was just keeping it simple. clean face, maybe eyebrows and mascara, earrings, sunglasses, lotion, perfume and clean clothes. i used to do lots of makeup and truth is i’m tired(tamela mann voice) nowadays i only wear makeup on days i have the energy or events and take care of my skin on days i can’t. i’m trying to take care of my body and hair now

A capsule wardrobe can get you out of that. Pinterest has a lot of great ideas

Same here! Mom was cute everyday! My great aunt thought it was a crime not to look your best. I lived that about them. Self-care daily. Well, I AM single with no kids. Yay!!!! The best compliment: you look like you don't have a worry in the world

That is very good point and especially as black women we always depend on the drag queen makeup look , colorful wigs , and big bold lashes to be beautiful. Natural aesthetics and classic makeup 💄 look is what radiates our beauty
Facts. If you are unrecognizable after make up, that’s called being in Drag. No disrespect to Drag Queens as a Teenager I had an adult drag Queen friend who actually taught me how to put my make up on and do eyebrows. So don’t come for me DragQueens. Just have different makeup needs.

Yeah, no shade but a lot of women are starting to look drag/trans because of the heavy makeup. Men need heavy makeup to exaggerate the feminine look they are going for. Women do not. 90s glam was amazing for Black women, imo and I wish we’d go back to it.

The universe always knows what you need. I haven’t watched a lot of vlogs lately but I saw yours and decided to watch and low and behold it was exactly the boost I needed. I pour my all into everyone around me and leave myself drained and walking around in Christmas pjs and tshirts. I know I need to give to myself. So thank you for the push!
My mom is the same: single parent of 4, almost 60, working and always on fleek (Black moms don't play 😊) . I'm lazy sometimes but I've noticed that I always see cute guys when I'm not put together 😂🤔 (I'm single with no kids). It's important to look good even in the house, I've taken bad habits since covid because I live alone and work from home, so nice reminder Kim ❣️

Self-care is so Essential. I can't express that enough. I found out the hard way when I was caring for my Sickle Cell Anemia son and then both of my parents before their deaths and the Arrangements after to give them all their respects. I'll do it all again if I had to, But I had forgotten how to take care of myself because I didn't take those gaps in time to do so. So whenever you're going through hard times Please always allow, even if a smidgen, time to care for yourself.
I love how you mentioned to "Pour into Yourself. " You have to replenish because if you keep pouring out you'll find yourself in negative spaces.

for me what helped me after a whole life of depression and lack of self care was just keeping it simple. clean face, maybe eyebrows and mascara, earrings, sunglasses, lotion, perfume and clean clothes. i used to do lots of makeup and truth is i’m tired(tamela mann voice) nowadays i only wear makeup on days i have the energy or events and take care of my skin on days i can’t. i’m trying to take care of my body and hair now

Thank you for reminding us to take care of ourselves. It just makes you feel good. I’m all about making myself feel good. Like the long soaks. Putting on lotion and perfume. I’m not that into make up. But I guess it could make you feel better about yourself. And I have a closet full of clothes I need to wear. I love flowers 💐! But I only smell them inside the store. I’m saying to myself, she really bought all those flowers which can be pricey. We’re worth it! I’ve got to start doing more. Your bouquet was beautiful! Love ❤️ all your videos!

I also work from home so it’s hard to get myself dressed up and looking and feeling good … I have definitely been in a rut.
