Thanks for this video. I just bought a used one and came with no pump. Tried a few cheap ones that just couldn't cut it. After watching your video I was able to score a pump from a local sporting goods store similar to the one you used from the paddle board. Worked like a charm. Shut off at 2.5 pounds, was fast and was able to fill the pontoon much harder than I imagined 2.5 pounds would be. So thanks for the advice.
I like your "nose bend test" however I think it would be helpfull if you first inflate to only 1 pound, then 2 pounds and do the test at each pressure so we could see the difference in how much the nose bends at each pressure. Thanks for your video. I have not purchaced one yet but the more I look the more I like. Thanks again.
Hey Will, Ryobi makes a battery powered leaf blower. It will fill an empty bladder 95 percent full in way less than a minute. Just need to top it off with the foot pump. It doest fit the valve at all but jus hold it on as tight as you can. Works great.
@@willritter Thanks man. Ah I know that pain. I caught 72 red tail surf perch in about 5 hours on June 26th, had it all on my GoPro memory card and it got corrupted and I can’t get it back. It’s a sickening feeling. Lol Hope to see more of your videos soon.
If you ever find that pump available, PLEASE pass it along! I’d love to get my hands on one. And, hey, don’t forget to share this- where I live it’s usually a 2 to 3 thousand foot climb to get to the lake. It would be bad to inflate your boat to full pressure before leaving home and have it explode as you gain elevation! Love your video!
I got an electric pump just like the one that came with the SUP, it's an Aquaglide, and I got mine from REI. it's amazing, you plug it in set the PSI and work on other stuff while it inflates. Not that it takes long. 5 min or so and then inflate the next pontoon. My only complain is that it's kinda obnoxiously loud.
Thanks so much Will. What does the wrench do for me. I just inflated it.. but unlike your video - when I take the tube off, the air escapes before I can put the cover on. When you took the hose off.. no air escaped..
Many people are still having this problem. Turning the valve either opens it or closes it. There’s no one-way valve option where you can pump air into it and then no air escapes.
Did you ever come up with a solution for this? Mine does the same thing and I’ve talked to another person who has the same issue. The valve is either open or closed. There’s no way to pump air into it like a one-way valve where when you disconnect the hose air doesn’t escape
So thanks for all of the good info, I am a 80 year old fly Fisher, tub and other ways, just starting to motor my new south fork bucks bag pontoon, and you have helped, but since my seat WILL not turn , no BUTT starring, so any HELP?
Hey Rob, my seat didn't turn either so I bought a boat seat swivel. Pretty simple install. Here's a link: amzn.to/3CAKBzM Also, I highly recommend getting stainless bolts/washer/and nylon lock nuts. Hope this helps!
@@willritter thanks I will try , some of Your other ideas as well that's a good way to use the internet, I am learning new hobbies each year and enjoy some of the old ones more.
Hi, volume is the name of the game with these things. Compressors are great for pressure but lower volume. Some guys even use shop vacs and leaf blowers!
Did you ever come up with a solution for this? My experiences the same I’m wondering if I tightened the valve down with the wrench too tight or if this discontinued product is no longer available because it was faulty.
I think it is more with how the boat is set up then inflation. The seet and foot pegs need to be adjusted properly. The inflation is a no brainer. I have used river rafts and just use the good old feel test. your know when it is fully inflated of it does not dimple.
I have a question my cousin and i just bought a pontoon boat each and we having one side losing air is there something we should look at before pulling the bladder out and looking for holes
You can get an SUP valve adapter with a Schrader valve on Amazon and then a lot of your 12v tire inflators for cars have a built in pressure gage. (Not sure how long it would take to inflate from scratch)
This would work great and I can use my Ryobi pump with a pressure gauge! Sorry, can’t copy and paste from my phone, but it’s a SUP inflator kit on Amazon for $11.99😮
I'm always losing air pressure trying to close the valve after I inflate. But I saw where you just popped the hose out and the valve was closed. Am I missing something? I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree, so, what am I doing wrong? I've watched several of your inflatable pontoon mod videos, and am interested especially in your pwm mod. I saw where several people have had issues with the modulators burning up. Now that you have had yours for a while, have you any issues?
The valve twists. Yours must be pushed in and locked open. Turn it the opposite way and it should close. Two years and no burnouts. Just make sure you get one that can more than handle the amps. I have a video on it. Blessings!
Did you ever come up with a solution to this problem. Many of us have the same thing going on the valve is either opened or closed. There’s no setting where it’s a one-way valve and when you take the hose off air doesn’t escape.

Thanks for the info Will! You really helped me out! I think your dog should be in all the videos!
Thanks for the video. I use an electric pump to get it going, and a k pump to top it off. The k pump is awesome for inflatables

Cool. More fun too!
I do the same with my Makita
Great video. I wished you made this years ago. I have a pump like yours. GAME CHANGER!!!
TOTALLY! I have to get one of those pumps now for sure.
Dude where you been??? Great video. I typically use the electric pump to get it started then switch the the 2 way pump to top it off.
haha, I can't seem to get video off my cameras, into a video editor, and uploaded! I saw a collab you did recently, great job!

There is a link to the pump in the description if that's helpful.
This deserves an award
Most appreciated
First tip, loosen the frame straps before fully inflating. It puts a lot of stress on the attachment points if they don’t have enough give.
great tip! Thanks!
Electric sup pump is the way to go. Trust me. It takes about 5 min to fully inflate.

I just use a battery powered air mattress pump . After you air it and use it for a bit , you can air it up on the water .
Great links, looking for the rear tire set up, the frame part mainly. I know the tires are from harbor freight
Thanks so much Will. What does the wrench do for me. I just inflated it.. but unlike your video - when I take the tube off, the air escapes before I can put the cover on. When you took the hose off.. no air escaped..
The little knob in center of the valve needs to be pushed down and turned. Your valve is currently locked open.
Many people are still having this problem. Turning the valve either opens it or closes it. There’s no one-way valve option where you can pump air into it and then no air escapes.

I have always inflated the pontoons first then put the frame on. your frame straps are to tight and it is straaining the pontoons. just my 2cents.
Great video, what if you to you a regular air compressor
Hi, volume is the name of the game with these things. Compressors are great for pressure but lower volume. Some guys even use shop vacs and leaf blowers!
So when I inflate mine and take the pump off the air just comes out. What do I need to do so the air doesn’t come out when you release the pump?
Did you ever come up with a solution for this? My experiences the same I’m wondering if I tightened the valve down with the wrench too tight or if this discontinued product is no longer available because it was faulty.
I've got a similar unit but can't deflate it past the pontoon ends. the centre section stays inflated. Any tips to make it deflate for storage?

the valve is the only penetration so that's where it look first. Dish soap and water 👍
you should be able to push down on the tube using your thumb and have it depress about 1/2" at the mid point of the tube, per manufacture
Have you tried fitting a kayak pedal propeller and the Boondox Groovy/ Sidekick wheels to the pontoon to make things easier?
Hi Chris, no I haven't. One of the benefits of the pontoon is being able to bring the fish up between the pontoons. Pretty convenient!

Thanks Jordan, another option to consider!

K-pump all day.

Hello in order to fill the pontoon how do you press down the inner valve?
Later reply, hopefully you figured it out! Push down and twist to lock open. The valve should be up when filling
I use a shop vac😂
I just got one waiting for store to notify me when there sucks no pump with it
How about rigging a scale across the D rings before inflation and noting the "weight" upon proper pressure.🤔
That's a clever idea!
I miss read the tag and pumped mine to 15lb. It didnt explode but i realized real fast I was 13lbs over inflated lol
I wonder what that explosion would have looked like?
