I saw him performing this album in person. It surprises me that... My 3 kids grew up in Neil. I've loved him since he first came on the scene. I know most of his catalog as he's my favorite all my life. But... This one is my son's favorite song out of hundreds by Neil Young. THANKS ❤
The darker haired backup singer on the left is the late great Nicolette Larson, who had a big hit back in the disco-era. Called 'Lotta Love it was actually written for Nicolette BY Neil
you don't know neil young until you've heard Cowgirl in the Sand 😂❤🐎 10:06 remastered version and don't forget Cinnamon Girl 🎸 Hey Hey My My rust never sleeps
Neil Young is The MAN. This video is very cool. Neil has a song for every occasion. A neat little side note on the video, the guy with the broom is sweeping in time to the music. Oh yeah, and "Eat At Alex's".
One of these days is another good track from this album where Neil looks back on his past, highly recommend. For another track off of the 1972 album Harvest I’d like to suggest the title track Harvest. I always enjoyed the almost hypnotic sound of it
I love every song of Harvest Moon (exception of War of Man) and I know most people have no idea that he could create such a beautiful album, and probably have no idea it even exists. I love when it does get some notice here on You Tube 🙂People have no idea what they're missing!
Here's another song with Neil Young and some of his fellow singers performing together, if interested. "The Last Waltz (1978) - Helpless Scene (3/7) Movieclips" (by the channel: Movieclips) --We are digging way back in time give a listen to Neil Young, The Band and Jonni Mitchell performing a cover of CSN&Y song "Helpless" back in 1976. It was arguably one of the best performances on an extremely illustrious night. But then you know I'm referring to "The Waltz" such an incredible concert...iconic.
The Mountain House is a restaurant in the Santa Cruz mountains, where Young met his wife Pegi who worked there as a waitress. She is the woman he is dancing with in the video. The Harvest Moon album includes a tribute to her, "Unknown Legend."
For years Neil lived in the gorgeous redwood forests of Santa Cruz mountains, same area I grew up. Neil’s ranch that he sings about in Old Man- which has some old growth redwoods- is off of skyline. He and David Crosby did a benefit concert after the Loma Prieta earthquake of ‘89 which devastated most of downtown Santa Cruz. CSNY are known for doing benefit concerts, like farm aid. They’re big hearted , down-to-earth guys 💗
WELL YOU CAN NEVERRRRR GO WRONG WITH THIS CLIP SHAWN👍, AND THIS IS THE TITLE TRACK TO HIS 92 ALBUM ( HARVEST MOON )😊UNKNOWN LEGEND, FROM HANK TO HENDRIX, NATURAL BEAUTY😊
My favorite Neil song is "Comes a Time" it's not on everyone's radar as far as classic Young. The song to me is just sums up Neil in a song. Poetry, musical genius, and just perfection IMO. I will never tyre of the song.
The Mountain House is near Neil's old ranch in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Been there many times. Have seen him several times when he did The Bridge charity concerts. ❤
The Mountain House in this video reopened a couple of years ago yet again and is a Michelin ranked restaurant! There’s a lot of old hippie culture in the Half Moon Bay/La Honda areas, which is right outside the San Francisco Bay Area, especially with Neil Young and also with Ken Kesey and the acid tests.
This was my late wife's favorite song… When I met her in 1971 she didn't even know who Neil Young was, but became his biggest fan. As she got sicker she kept promising me that we would dance again under the moonlight… Unfortunately, that never happened
RIP to your lovely wife! The impact our loved ones make on our heart, I hope they can feel it wherever they are! And I hope we get to see then again on our next journey. 💗
It was Harvest Moon that really turned me into a Neil fan. There are several killers on it, including War Of Man (political), Hank to Hendrix, and Natural Beauty (stunning live performance featuring him on piano and harmonica). You're definitely right that you've only scratched the surface. Not an insult at all. His career spans about 1966- the present and he's been busy as hell throughout. He has also continued to make amazing, uniquely Neil music throughout. For me his last great, great album was Sleeps With Angels. Others love the newer stuff though. Prairie Wind is another soft one that has great reviews and I've loved the songs I've heard from it. It's really the vocal that kills on this song. His voice is so clear and so full of love and kindness. When he says "when we were strangers..." it kills me every time. Truthfully Neil has way more songs about love, aging, and loneliness (those three themes are inseparable for him) than politics.
This is a masterpiece both musically and lyrically. Perhaps the finest love song ever written with the possible exception of Makes No Difference by The Band (Last Waltz version, do a reaction to that please!).
Here's a little bit of trivia about this video: the guy that portrayed the young Neil is Dale Crover, the drummer extraordinaire for the Melvins. He also recorded a few tracks with Nirvana on their "Bleach" album before Dave Grohl became Nirvana's permanent drummer. I'm good friends with one of Dale's older brothers, as we were classmates in Aberdeen, and later roommates in Seattle. I get a kick out of seeing Dale in this video. One more thing: while Dale was driving Neil's vintage car during the filming, he miscalculated the steerability of the car and he did a bit of damage to it when he made contact with a tree. Bummer.
Neil really did met Peggy when she was waitressing. Sadly they eventually divorced and she has passed on. Neil is now married to the actress Daryl Hannah.
Beautiful song. The vid portrays he and his ex wife who met years ago at or near the bar where it was filmed. I used to live nearby and have been there. Wonderful place and area. It is a short drive from his former ranch in the Santa Cruz mountains. Sad they drifted apart after creating so much together.
AND LIKE I'VE SAID SHAWN, HE HAS A TON OF 3-5 MIN.BANGERS AND OF COURSE 8-10 BANGERS WHERE HE JUST GOES OFF ON GUITAR RANTS, LUVVVVV IT!!! 💯😊MINE AS WELL DO ( HARVEST ) AS IT WAS 20 YEARS BEFORE THIS GREAT HIT! 👍
Neil can play the ballad or rock it like a Cat 5 hurricane. His lyrics are among the best ever - a true Icon of music. Thanks, Shawn, for your hard work, fantastic views, and reactions to the music. You're the best on UA-cam; every time, it's a 3-point shot behind the line...Nothing but net. A hidden gem with the back vocals and genius lyrics is his song "Birds" ua-cam.com/video/k4imn-swb34/v-deo.htmlsi=u3WDKGHAKu_u-Ei4 from his album "After The Gold Rush"
Not my favorite by Neil. You ought to try reacting to an old one by Neil especially if you like old or classic autos; Long May You Run! Guarantee you will love that one.
My late wife and I love this song and used to dance to it…. It always touches my heart.❤ yes, I’d love to dance with her one more time..
I love Neil's "Americana" sound. He dabbles in so many different styles, but this is my favorite sound from Neil.
I saw him performing this album in person. It surprises me that... My 3 kids grew up in Neil. I've loved him since he first came on the scene. I know most of his catalog as he's my favorite all my life. But... This one is my son's favorite song out of hundreds by Neil Young. THANKS ❤
I get goosebumps every time I hear this song.
Cinnamon Girl is a must listen !!
The darker haired backup singer on the left is the late great Nicolette Larson, who had a big hit back in the disco-era. Called 'Lotta Love it was actually written for Nicolette BY Neil
Both of their versions are great.
you don't know neil young until you've heard Cowgirl in the Sand 😂❤🐎 10:06 remastered version and don't forget Cinnamon Girl 🎸
Hey Hey My My rust never sleeps
Now that is a short list !
Omg! I was waiting for someone to do a reaction to this song! Thank you so much! Love this song & your reaction! 👍✌❤

Favorite Neil's song and video, YAY Bucket list stuff right there to dance in a mountain tavern. wow
A great bucket list item!
His biggest career hit was "Heart of Gold" from the _Harvest_ album. I also love "Out on the Weekend."

Beautiful song, thanks for this! ✌️🎶
After the Gold Rush is another very good Neil Young album. It is a bit different, but that is what makes Neil so good.
Neil Young has many great songs, seen him in concert twice and I always listen to all his music, don’t forget the After the Gold Rush song and album

Neil knows what a harvest moon is as he grew up on the prairies of Canada in the province of Manitoba.
Heard this song for the first time just a few weeks ago. Not a huge Neil Young song but love this one for sure
WELL YOU CAN NEVERRRRR GO WRONG WITH THIS CLIP SHAWN👍, AND THIS IS THE TITLE TRACK TO HIS 92 ALBUM ( HARVEST MOON )😊UNKNOWN LEGEND, FROM HANK TO HENDRIX, NATURAL BEAUTY😊
This gem came to us in the mid 2000's. Neil never stops delivering.
I think you can see with this song why we all loved Neil Young's music,
My favorite Neil song is "Comes a Time" it's not on everyone's radar as far as classic Young. The song to me is just sums up Neil in a song. Poetry, musical genius, and just perfection IMO. I will never tyre of the song.
Beautiful song
Beautiful song from an older Neil. Got got get into more Buffalo Springfield, Neil and Stephen Stills on guitars were magic together.
Ihave loved this mans music since the 70's, just doesnt get old
The Mountain House is near Neil's old ranch in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Been there many times. Have seen him several times when he did The Bridge charity concerts. ❤
Check out his song Only Love Can Break Your Heart.

This was our wedding song ❤️
Harvest moon is a beautiful song! As soon as I got the notification I was excited to see you react to it! Enjoyed this one, thank you! 😀

Thanks, Shawn! One of my favorites, and I really like the video.. the juxtaposition of the "younger" couple.. so evocative! appreciate your reaction..
Back-up singers are Nicolette Larson, Linda Ronstadt
FOUR STRONG WINDS is one by Neil Young you need to listen and react.
Ian Tyson wrote "Four Strong Winds", not Neil.
You need to react to his first album with songs like "Down by the River", "Cowgirl in the Sand", and other songs from this album
I was up north in the Laurentians this weekend with a friend of mine of over 40 years and yes, this record was played.
They put a mike on a broom to augment the percusion. Note the broom in the opening of the video.
One of his most loved songs.
My favorite from that album is Unknown Legend.
Love this song, and I'd never seen this video before. Thank you ❤
I love this video! And of course the song.
This is a masterpiece both musically and lyrically. Perhaps the finest love song ever written with the possible exception of Makes No Difference by The Band (Last Waltz version, do a reaction to that please!).
Try "Down by the River" for a rocking tune with Neil and his band Crazy Horse.
Another good song off this album is Unknown legend.
Such a sweet romantic side of Neal. A lovely song without any hint of saccharine or political cynicism. Let's dance.

His song "Unknown Legend" is about her.
There is Aton of celebs in that dance crowd!
❤
Uncle Neil.

Yo, Whats Up Shawn? The Group"Foxes and Fossils" have an Awesome Cover of this!!
YOU GOT HARVEST AND HARVEST MOON CONFUSED SHAWN, LOTSAAAA NEW REACTORS DO SO 😊
Gotta do "Four Strong Winds".
Nicolette Larson on the female back vocals and I think the other is Astrid Young .. not sure .. but both sound good together.
They were on the MTV unplugged live version of it. Linda Ronstadt on this one,
Check out "War of Man" on this same album.

You want something different from Neil Young?...Try "This Note's For You." The song puts down the commercialization of the artists at the time.
The title track is really good and Ten Men Working are my favs off that album
👍😊THE FEMALES WERE HIS WIFE AND SISTER SHAWN : PEGI AND ASTRID RIP☹ TO PEGI
Not my favorite by Neil. You ought to try reacting to an old one by Neil especially if you like old or classic autos; Long May You Run! Guarantee you will love that one.
Not one of my favorites of his.
ahhh nice. one of the greatest love songs
Beautiful song.
