I want lomo to release a version of this that's literally not even sensitive to light but is just purple. Like you develop it and it's just 100% purple like a paint card. I would spend good money on that just for the gag.
infrared photography isn't only a fun gimmick for archeology its rather useful since in the time of year that you don't see parch marks in grass or crop fields you do see the marks of whatever is underground or used to be underground in infrared like is illustrated in the park view at 5:54 you can clearly see what used to be a curvy road under the existing one.
not editing scans is stupid. I worked at a lab, and a scanner has four controlls - darkness, cyan, yellow and magenta. a good scanner works like a fast typist, fingers nudging the controlls on those controlls while clanging the "next frame" button. some frames get +4M some get +2K+1C-1Y whatever.... to get skin good, grass green, skies blue, whatever seems most imprtant. no two scanners operate one to one in their settings, so choose your labs well, and maybe even try two-three diferent scanning services or home scanning if you are not sattisfied and think the frame and film combo should and could be better. and of course, the scanners dont touch contrast and saturation and a whole lot of other things, that could be manipulated in a darkroom or photoshop, so if you think these manipulations could look good, do them!
My recommendation: shoot it at night. My daytime shots turned out kind of boring and not very exciting, I don't know what to do with them (the only thing I would think of would be an editorial fashion shoot). But at night the sky is a nice teal green, it looks very cyberpunk and interesting, almost like a cousin to Cinestill 800T.
Honestly I used to think Lomochrome Purple as a film that makes everything purple but here it looks very selective towards the green and it even gives normal skintones, they probably improved it over time
Ah yes, pUrPlE! Wondered when you'd make this video. Edit: Now I've gotta rewatch the entire Attic Darkroom backcatalog again. The chems he uses must be addictive or something lol
I really wanted to see your review for Lomo Purple, but I wasn’t expecting you actually shooting this film as we know you don’t like experimental films. Thanks for trying this film and doing this sincere review. I still like this film so much . I wish I could get one roll of Lomo Purple before it gets ran out.
Cross processed Lomo Purple looks terrible. You have to deal with a thick teal cast but with enough processing you can get a pretty unique and moody look. Anyway I really appreciate the shout out. Thanks man!
Anyone just seeing this video: As of this comment date, Lomography has a new "Petillant" variety of Purple that seems to have replaced the 2019 formula. It better replicates the look of Aerochrome. It is still in stock on Lomography's website but everyone else is sold out (just ordered a roll). Turquoise is sold out completely in 35mm except at inflated prices on sites like ebay and Etsy. However I was able to get Turquoise in 110 but there's a minimum order of 3. I think 120 might be available in all stocks but I could be wrong.
A general suggestion: (As you know) an important part of B&W photography is the use of Red-, Orange-, Yellow-, Green- and Blue filters! Since you report a lot about "amateur brands" who often don't display strong contrast, it would be interesting to see how one can compensate that with filters! Besides, I bet, you know more about that than anyone else! Keep up the good work! 🤗
Hey, you're the same person that replied to my comment mensioning his channel on a Mathieu Stern video. Attic darkroom truly is a great channel and there is no other channel (that I know of) which is even remotly similar to it.
Noah, we've been shooting Kodak 2383 Print Film here in Brasil, and I can tell you THAT'S the most Purple film there's is. And the colors are prettier also!
I shot a roll at a christmas party last year on the bronica s2a. all under-exposed. I thought it was perhaps the film but, it was me. Video confirmed it. Shutter speed on S2A needs to be set on 1/40th for flash apparently. 1/60th don't cut it. Anyone else had that experience?
I just got 2 120 Lomochrome Purple by accident. Tried to buy Metropolis but they accidentally sent Lomochrome Purple. So I guess I get to try it now. Maybe I will like it :)
I always feel that the "chrome" designation confuses this old man ... I always feel that they should name it "Lomo Color" to follow the old film naming convention!!!
gimic films are gimic films. the ones you don't have are cool but the ones you do have are just eh. I'm sure you could get all the fun out of aerochrome in like 2-3 rolls, but right now have fun finding 2-3 rolls of that stuff withought selling a kidney so the hype train never ends. this purple can do amazing stuff but the fun wears of just as quickly because its the gimic you have.
between metro' and Purple i will say Purple has way more going for it. I would say like i said in the metro' video. these film stocks do much better in 120. Purple looks waay better in 120 in my opinion. i strugle to enjoy lomography colour film in 35mm. the rebranded kodak stuff is great however.
LOL I wanted a purchase one roll of 110 , you have to buy least three lomography , For a lousy 110 wouldve came out at $75 , and that company is in that country that i live in lol ridiculous $23 to ship to the same country from Toronto to Windsor lol and don't get me started on purchasing black or white 110
I've shot a roll of lomochrome purple and I enjoyed it. I just haven't made a video about it yet. I'm actually excited because lomography is doing a new run of lomochrome turquoise which is a very strange film. And I definitely ordered some of that! It turns people blue! Not very practical but in my opinion weird and fun and odd. I too wasn't excited by lomochrome metropolis. Kinda boring. I prefer effect films that have a strong effect. I had speculated on my channel awhile back that they'd make a film that turns skin tones green but they have yet to do it sadly. I also then subsequently insisted that if they actually do make one that they must name it after me. 1conochrome! I wanna turn people blue and green!

It would have more value to it just for the sake of entertainment.
lol
One way to waste money

I like that little mini rant about editing film photos. Couldn't have said it better myself. 👍

Gosh, I love this channel! Thanks!
Thanks Stanley!

The bleach bypassed roll in one of your videos was amazing. Not the bleach bypassed cross processed thought😂
Your channel is the best, seriously, I love your content A LOT

is there a filter that shifts the purple more into the red/pink? that way it might be possible to get a look that is more similar to aerochrome.

@@alfepalfe indeed! I love his work and his delivery !
Lomo purple! It has definitely become one of my favorites, and I shoot it at 200 too 😆 shooting it at 400 really made the shadows too grainy.
Love lomo purple. Such a fun film to use.
Thanks for the video. Lomo Purple is the kind of film I bring out to show off to non-analogue folk. It’s a drastic look.
I WISH I could have gotten a roll of Aerochrome before they stopped producing it. LomoChrome Purple is the second best thing though.

love the lomopurple i shoot the 120 in my pinhole camera with wonderfully bizarre results
And once again, you‘re the best man ❤️
Tony the Tiger, "Purple films? They'rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre GRAPE!" ;)
Infrared film gives a otherworldly image

Definitely a great hiking/backpacking film. Preferably in 120.

Fiiiiine I'll buy a few rolls... purple best colour, come at me
I know what I’m buying instead of ektachrome
It's great for nature shots. Everything else, no.

You're lying. You actually went to one of those reddish-purple planets from No Man's Sky in real life, didn't you?
