- Harness racing is not just about the two minutes the horse is on the racetrack.
Meet some of the families, individuals and horses that make up Maine's harness racing industry, an industry faced with many challenges but one that has persevered for generations because those who are in it can't imagine doing anything else. It's about loyalty, tradition, and pure love of the sport. This short film provides a fast-paced, behind-the-scenes look at an industry full of heart and soul, highs and lows; learn just how exciting and challenging it can be to make a living while raising a family, maintaining relationships, and living the farm life, in one of America's oldest sports.
My mom and dad had a hand in the startup of the New England Sire Stakes 'way back in the 60's, and we always had a homebred or two that was raced in Maine and the rest of New England. I can just barely remember Loring Norton himself.
Thoughts and prayers for Maine racing (and by racing, I mean trotting) now that Scarborough is gone. 😕
Thanks so much for posting this! 👍
Great show. Love the horses and people associated with them.
I love that blacksmiths voice, he could make a living doing narration
I was lucky, I grew up around fellows just like him. 😄
Love it!
Miss it

My parents always had a homebred or two, and we raced 'em on mostly on the Maine circuit. Good luck!
Can't help wondering what will happen with the Maine circuit with Scarborough gone? 😟
@@comesahorseman just got Janie C and Ittakestwobaby both pacers. Hope for a 2021 foal.
Watched races at northern Maine Fair in PI
too bad harness racing was and still is so crooked...hastened its demise!
