I love Bach played fast. It's like hiking along at a good rate and seeing the flow of the landscape and not stopping to smell every flower and interupt the cadence. There are different scales, so to speak, to music. Try listening to Albert Schweitzer. So slow there's really nothing to hear. But he kind of rediscovered Bach, so he had no idea what he was dealing with. Thanks, Albert!
Anthony. Thank you for sharing your gift. You have brought me so much pleasure with your performances. I always thought Bach had a wonderful sense of humor. Within all the beauty, drama, joyfulness and sadness of his compositions there always seemed to be a smile.
i want to say "effortless" but I know it's not. He is undoubtedly gifted but he's devoted a lifetime to practice which is the only way anyone can achieve this level of mastery not just of the instrument but of the music itself.
Too slow to my taste. Care not about "authenticity" but about potential of music. Its patterns are very similar to Romantic era in that volcano and grandiose harmonies and pace of development of its content.
The organ may not be the best, but it sounds great to me. And the tempo is great, it makes this piece very lively, a lot of interpretations of this are very boring because they are so slow and the continuous 16th notes never seem to end. This has to be my favorite recording
Genius composer. Genius performer.
Feeling so grateful to be able to hear this….🎶🎶

Stupid comments. This is godlike. I listen to your Bach organ works everyday. It's like oxygen for me. Thank you!
Bravo!
Newman plays the spicy Bach.

Lots of people here have not done their homework and read Newman's scholarly work on historical practice.
Sir. I can’t find your album Bach Organ Works circa 1976. I was 7 yol when I did hear it for the first time. Thanks.
Very exciting. Where is this organ?
cool
何でこんなに鍵盤を撫でるだけでバッハの難曲が弾けるんかしら?不思議やな。
bro chill
Too fast. Ugly neo-baroque sound.
As I posted to a different poster above, I take it you have not read Quantz.
And what should it be? Neo-Romantic? Neo-Classical? What is YOUR basis, @horsebassoon?
