Thanks for checking out my video! It IS a Birthday cake, BUT... it also looke like the ball drop! So it's super appropriate for this weekend -- HAPPY NEW YEARS ALL! 🥳
Happy Birthday and Happy New Year in 2023. How was your party? Your one of those people that has a birthday near Christmas 🎄 so you get Christmas/Birthday 🎁. I love how the cake turned out! I’ll have to checkout those leds for a future project, I like to make different types of clocks.
Very cool. My wife and I used to make custom cakes.. this would have taken it to a new level. I can tell this took a LOT of effort, so great job! -Derek
That is pretty dope! I like the idea! I was worried about the cake coming in contact with the LED and making the cake not edible but then you using film to cover it was genius!
From within the "skin" of a mouth watering, beautiful white cake comes a ghostly pink glow spelling out a happy celebratory "Happy Birthday" - heart stopping, I JUST WANTED TO CHEER! THX for doing a lot of work for something, like Frosty the Snowman, gone too soon, creating a mix of happiness & sorrow, an audible example being the Cowsill's "The Rain, the Park, and Other Things." I mean; "Suddenly, the forks broke through, I turned around my cake was gone, but I didn't really care, 'cause the message still glowed for me, and I knew, it had made them happy."
Wauw! this is so cool. I'm afraid to show this to my wife.. her birthday party is next month and if she sees this...I will have to build this too....lol. Nicely done!
Outstanding ❤👍... make a simulated cake unedible, just to have out and play with the leds...such hard long work to destroy the cake... Great job...enjoyed watching...👍
I wonder if it would be possible to make a light pipe out of sugar. That would make it possible to make an entirely edible cake that would still have this effect by putting the LED matrix in the cake tray. It would also be reusable. It would probably be more technically edible than, y'know, nice to eat, but that's already kind of true of fondant.
Yeah! I've been thinking a lot about edible light diffusers too now that I've done this cake! I was also thinking of transparent sugars or clear geletin sheets that could diffuse or reroute LED light - Straws of jello, fruit rollups, isomalt structures, so many possiblilities!
It seems impractical and risky. I would probably have used projection onto the cake instead. It would put all the electronics outside and allow the cake to be cut and served without damaging the electronics, plus lighting the disco ball would be more reflective in more directions (especially if you add some lower lighting from wider sources). Just my take. Good ideas but I would have done it differently that way, I think. Better? Not as good?
Yeah! My friends thought I had a projector on it but I had to be like no it’s in the cake- look I can move it around! Haha. The projected certainly would be easier, and I’m sure there are projections that would be super cool, like making a Cinderella’s castle cake and then projection mapping it would be an awesome project.
Have an idea for a build by Natasha? You can find her on the element14 Community! bit.ly/3Q5nPVW

It's crazy that the LEDs shine through so clearly. If I didn't see you baking it, I wouldn't expect the cake to be edible. Very cool!
Thanks! My friends thought I had a projector aimed at it, but I was like no that’s in the cake!
I was skeptical at first, but this turned out to be cooler than I anticipated. Well done!
Thanks! I’m so happy it worked!

Thanks! It protected the electronics perfectly. I'm so happy I didn't ruin the displays!

VERY COOL!!!!! Excellent project and video, Natasha! Thanks for explaining each step in such detail.
Thanks Becky! 🤩

Haha thanks!
Fantastic cake, the LED displays turned out great. Good point about having connectors for bigger projects.
Happy Birthday Natasha!
thank you!!!
Excellent video and cool idea to put LED matrix in cake! 👍 It look amazing! 😎
Thanks 😎
Happy Birthday Natasha and Happy New Year in 2023 🎉❤
Thanks you too!
Great project! I guess you could even throw the LED matrices into the dishwasher. But prevention with the plastic bag seems to work great already.
Yeah it worked quite well. Barely needed to wash it. :-D
Love the cake, but.. I think the coolest thing in this video is your ring light perfectly showing as the iris of your eyes.
The looks very cool! Reminds me of the projection mapped cakes from a few years back!
Well executed though, and definitely an idea to steal!
Very cool! Not just awesome circuitry, but a lovely looking cake! (I imagine animated fireworks could look great over those two layers).
Yes that's a great idea! 🎆
Nicely done.
Post party. Washing. They will withstand washing. In a bowl of soapy water. It's fine.
I see you worked very hard on this.
Good Job!!
Happy Birthday! You did a very impressive job with a fantastic idea.
Thanks. :)

Happy new year! The cake sortof looks like the ball drop too!
I tried to download the code but it's not located anywhere
The link has been fixed. :)

The reflection from the ring light is really off putting.
Do you mean in my eyes or somewhere else? Time code?
@@TechnoChic Yes, in your eyes, it's the entire video, right from the first second, and in the thumbnail of the video before it even started.
@@TheLukemcdaniel gotcha. Do you have any tips for making the ring reflection less centered? Do you think that would look better?
@@TechnoChic It needs to be diffused, so that you get an even spread.
@@TheLukemcdaniel Ah ok I'll try to put a soft box on it. Good thought.

Thank you!
no tiene sentido, la parte de abajo no se puede comer, que chafa resultado
The bottom tier of the cake was also edible. It’s all cake.
THIS IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!! 😄😄😄
Happy Birthday BTW @technochic !!!
Thanks!😃
