      I have a question about the sanding, do you do that with all resin work? I’m fixing to start my first one and I’m starting small before I do my main one so I just want to make sure I’m doing everything right. Any advice would be very helpful,thank you.

    For all who want to try epoxy at home:
    Please be generous with the super glue. You do not want to wait days in hopes you can peel it off of the ground. Also make sure not to stir your resin too hard to prevent bubbles and make sure there's a decent temperature. At room temperature or a bit above (I recommend a short water bath) the resin becomes more fluid and will let bubbles out more easily. Also before you pour I'd recommend to quickly use a lighter on the surface to pop existing bubbles. Most resins give you more than enough time after mixing so take a breather. Also don't be too hasty to release it from the mold. It might look strong enough or the surface is touchable but even slight pressure can still curve or dent your piece. Try to make a bit of a sealed part because it dusts like hell when sanded, a drop of water prevents that a bit.
    And for the love of god please wear face protection if you sand it. It's horrible to breathe in and your piece is not worth your health.

  • @JRNY63
    @JRNY63 3 роки тому +3

    Wow! This is a really magnificent piece and I like how it ended up as a result. However, there are a few things I personally think could be improved.
    1. At the end, the led component dispersed light in a circular pattern and due to the stone/rocks positioning, the light was too bright in one area and not in the other. I think if you use a LED light with one beam of light going through the middle, or an LED with slightly lower luminosity, the light will disperse more evenly throughout the piece.
    2. Gloves my dood :(
    3. Instead of propping the resin onto the base and gluing it down, I think you can find a thicker base and carve the shape of the resin prism and then glue it down. I don’t trust things that are glued because if they take too big a fall, they tend to snap off from each other and blargh, money spent. Maybe it might help with light distribution too since light has nowhere to go but up.
    Overall, that’s it! You don’t have to take these things into consideration if my points are flawed or not possible. Good work! 👍

    So very nice, applause. Today I had an idea: make Christmas decorations with this concept. Why? Holiday decorations sometime look tacky(ugly) during the day- yet at night- the lights within the decoration bring life/beauty. Something like this would contribute to both day + night time appeal.

    Wow! it looks so easy and the lamp isn't scratched at all! to get all the bubbles out you need to heat it with a blow torch while the exopy sets. U should also wax the box where you placed the wood in. This prevents the epoxy from sticking to the sides! Could you please tell me what electrical pad you used and where you get them from. Very cool!

      Thank you very much, the electrical pad I got in the 5v USB bulb 😁🤗

      Hi, what do you mean by wax the box?

    • @louisefrance9967
      @louisefrance9967 4 роки тому

      @@f_society91 you apply clear wax to the perspex box with a cotton cloth or brush and it stops the resin from sticking so badly. The perspex is more easily removed

    nice job but i see its got tons of air bubbles . if i may suggest , i would suggest you do slow pours . by that i mean do about 1/8" at a time . let it settle for 20 to 30 minutes then repeat until you reach your desired amount you need . i do not suggest you doing full pours all at once . that's where a lot of air bubbles is reintroduced back into the resin . also putting your resin in extremely hot water for a bit also help to get the bubbles out . i hope these suggestions help
