Hello Catherine & Dainty Diary friends...oh... the salvage shop, was grand...lots of great finds. My sister and I visited our farmers market, which just opened up First weekend in May. Alot of mix of craft, antique & herb, flower vendors. Then went to a Garden Center with new ownership & they have an area in the back with alot of great finds but working on pricing. Thank you for sharing! Your time with Karen was alot of fun.
Lovely! Hostas love shade and they are gorgeous big leafy plants in a variety of shades. When we lived in California I used wine barrels for my herb planters and had them off the kitchen deck. Your home is spectacular.
I love the arched mirrors, they are beautiful. I do love mirrors in a gardens but I always worry about birds flying into them. I only worry because I have had birds fly into my windows on sunny days.
There is a spray you can use ! You spray on the back of your window and from the front side it’s a mirror! I bought mine at my local hardware store! Good luck! I love the mirrors you bought!

The arched windows/mirrors look great together! The town I live in was demolishing farmhouses to build a community of new homes. I found one tall wood farm shutter and two wooden attic vents while walking my dog. I had them in my back garden for years. I wish there was a salvage yard near me. ❤
Loving those mirrors! The one out the front suits the space. There's Wilson's rec yard up North on the A1 to Belfast but it's a bit spendy...however, you wouldn't be too far from Hillsborough for a walk round the lake & forest...and have a spot of lunch in one of the bars 😁 Enjoy CFS 😊
Love the mirrors, really love your windows... you could put the mirror behind it fitted from top down, then where the gap is at the bottom, cover it from the outside with a window box and plant something cute in it.. Just a thought, that way no one will know that the mirror wasn';t long enough...

I highly recommend Royal Meath Architectural Salvage in Navan! They have even built a greenhouse with all reclaimed bricks, lintels and windows..amazing ideas and advice, I think youd love it!

Catherine, this is one of my favorites of your garden videos. I loved the trip to the salvage store as that is one of my favorite things to do, too. I have a thought for using the too-short mirror with the window -- put the mirror all the way to the top and at the bottom of the window put a window box that you can plant with real flowers or put in some faux flowers. That would hide the fact that the mirror is too short.

A little window box on the bottoms would cover where the glass doesn’t fit and if it was planted you would never notice the gap.

Catherine, you idea for the old windows will work. Put the added piece of mirror at the bottom and use some wood molding to hind the joint.

Lucky that you have three panes:) They will fit... You just need to make the seam where the mid-frame of the window is. :) to hide it. :)

You can stencil (with paint) on glass and mirror. Done it before and when you’re tired of it, razor blade will take it right off!
