Just finished it. Fantastic. Ty for the recommendation. Love it when the main character is making plans and working around his situation instead of just a passive asshole who a bunch of stuff happens to. The magic system was also very nice
Oh hey, you should check out: The Perfect Run - Maxime J. Durand. Another one of these "litrpg" genre books that sound like they should be over the top or generic yawns, but instead turn out to be fantastically written with interesting characters making interesting choices surrounded by interesting magic systems :)
Second this. I was pleasantly surprised. Unfortunately the author's other series up to this point don't seem to hit nearly as hard, though they're all fairly well done.
I have been so skeptical about this book. I did not see how a deck building litrpg a was possible. But it sounds like the author had a brilliant plan for the magic and executed it well. I’m now a lot more interested in reading this.
That series, He Who Fights with Monsters, and now this series are in my Audible rotation. Eventually I will have enough to not have to wait for a favorite story to be ready. That being said, the fact that authors now a days in this genre are able to pump out the stories so quickly is astounding. Six months between book 1 and 2 is impressive.

Yes, I loved the book, can't wait for the next in the series.

Loved it. Great review. You earned yourself a subscriber, looking forward for more!
Yeah, so looking forward to book 2!
How does the “deck building” portion fit into the book?
