We can confirm the e-mass of a subatomic partical to 16-S but half way around the world, one of the most developed countries in the world has trouble understanding which of two men got more votes on Nov 2020. So the W boson is a fundamental particle (a boson) that carries force between other particles. They’ve just been able to weigh it a little more precisely. That’s really it.
Seems big accelerators have become obsolete. They hunt for hypothetical particles that have no reason to exist. The underlying theories are just based on arbitrary assumptions aka changes to the standard model.
