The whole world loves Ringo, because he’s not full of himself and because he’s a really great drummer who doesn’t try to set the kit on fire, plays the songs. He’s a pro.
You should find a better hero. Ringo stabbed his mate, Pete Best, in the back, conspiring with George Harrison for the better part of a year to take Pete's job as The Beatles' drummer.
@@Cosmo-Kramer you need to learn to some actual proper research dude That statement is not true at all. Ringo had absolutely nothing to do with the sacking of Pete Best. That was due to the fact that George Martin didn't think Best was good enough to used as a recording drummer. Liverpool Beatles historian and author David Bedford explains in detail what actually happened on his channel Brightmoon Liverpool. Well worth checking out.
@@nigelmurphy6761 I've watched all of David's content, and I like him. But he's wrong about the reason why Pete was sacked. George Martin never said to replace Pete in the band. On the contrary, he assured Brian Epstein that Pete would remain The Beatles drummer, do all the live performances, and that the session drummer would be uncredited and no one would ever know it wasn't Pete on the record. Now, you may feel like replying to me saying that even though Martin didn't suggest replacing Pete in the band, The Threatles did it anyway because it was important to them that all four members play on the recordings. But that argument does not fly, because George Martin replaced Ringo on the first recording, and The Threatles did NOT sack Ringo. So that clearly wasn't their motivation for sacking Pete. Their sole motivation was that they were jealous of Pete's status as the far and away most popular Beatle. I'm afraid it is you who needs to conduct more thorough research.
@@Cosmo-Kramerid really like to know what exact proof you have that they were jealous of best? Do you honestly think they'd have put up with Best for the two whole years he was there if they were jealous of him? He wouldn't have lasted a month never mind two years if that had been the case. Also you've claimed that Ringo backstabbed best. Again, where's your proof? I'm not trying to diss best in anyway. He was fantastic for helping to develop their sound no doubt ane it did suck that he was sacked but that's the way it goes sometimes.
@@nigelmurphy6761 having read much about the issue of Pete and Ringo, I actually agree with you and apart from everything else, Ringo was a Beatle, Pete was a reasonably competent local drummer. When Ringo sat in for Pete a couple of times Paul said John and George looked at each other and WOW.
Ringo ends the interview by saying that life is good. I hope he knows that the music he's left us has helped make life better than it would otherwise be for a lot of us. Thank you Ringo!!!
Pay very close attention all you young musicians and all you young drummers out there. This is a huge clue about why the Beatles were so damn huge. When asked about his listening to other drummers, Ringo responds, "I never listened to the drummer. I listened to the whole thing." This from a man who said that the only thing he ever wanted to be was a drummer. In the whole Beatles catalog you'll NEVER hear any of the four Beatles attempt to stand out from the others in any song they ever played. Not one of them ever attempted to stand out above the others. When they played it was always about the music and NOT themselves and that's what made each of them great musicians and why Ringo is considered a great drummer. The music always came first. It was never about "how can I make myself look great". They always thought, what can I do to make the song great.
I think it was Ringo's persona as much as his skills with the sticks that got him into The Beatles - his personality was much more suited to the witty, sarcastic, and winsome Beatles than Pete; I think technically Pete was good enough to play with them - after all, he was with them for three or four years, but, was maybe not quite the entire package to fit the whole Beatles image. I believe he got a substantial payout from The Beatles Anthology CDs and accompanying book, which is only right as he contributed, as the drummer, to their early stuff before they hit it big. Interesting story - thank you for uploading.
By the time Ringo joined the Beatles they were unquestionably bigger than the Hurricanes. The Beatles already had a record deal, and they asked Ringo to join because Pete Best wasn't cutiing it in the studio and George Martin wanted to use a session drummer.
Using session drummers was the norm back then, particularly for young bands, and they even used one (Andy White) for Ringo after he replaced Pete. No, The Beatles just used Martin's wish to use a session man in place of Pete for the first record as a pretext to sack him, something they'd wanted to do for a long time due to their jealousy that Pete was the far and away most popular Beatle.
@@Cosmo-Kramer It doesn't take much work to discover that Ringo was a far better drummer. ON the sessions with Bert Kampfurt he removed the kick drum from the session because Pete could not hold the beat, something the other Beatles had mentioned from time to time.
@@fourthtunz That's a lie spread by rabid Ringo Apologists for years. Here's what actually happened. Bert Kaempfert was a 40-year old easy listening producer best known for a polka, who had no palate for rock music. When The Beatles began playing he and his staff were shocked at how loud they were, his engineer saying, *"The Beatles were loud, Loud, LOUD! We were not prepared for their sound, we had never heard anything like them before."* The driving force behind The Beatles sound was the thunderous right foot of Pete, known as "The Atom Beat", and so Bert told Pete to just play the snare and hi-hat, which he did, and did exceptionally well as you can hear on, *"My Bonnie".* It is complete rubbish that they "removed part of his kit", LOL.
It might have been a different story for ringo had he joined the searchers! The other drummer that approached his talent in the beginning was Chris Curtis and to my ears in the beginning…..best of.the two.
