My dad’s been a high school coach in Oklahoma for 40 years and we’ve always been 49ers fans. He was the first coach in Oklahoma to run the west coast offense he learned from Walsh. Anyway we watched the game together Monday night and it’s so interesting watching a game with him because he picks up on things I would never pick up and I played D-2 ball. Just like you I will get irritated with a reverse call or some calls that seem out of place, but what I’ve learned from him is that Shanahan is the kind of coach that does everything for a reason. Like the first 10 or 15 plays of the game are designed to see how they plan on defending setups. I forgot exactly what it was but on that reverse he pointed out a DE or LB that shifted with the motion and blew up the play in backfield and my dad said I bet later in the game Kyle’s going lineup in that same formation and same motion but are going to pull the guard and run zone read right behind him. Since the DE is getting up field so fast that pulling guard will probably be able to block him and the LB guys with a kick out block and if Juice can reach the middle Linebacker he’s going to hit his head on the goal post. Sure enough it happened just like he said and Mason broke off a huge run for like 40 yards for the TD, but I think it was the one that got called back for holding downfield that wouldn’t have even affected the play. He points out crap like all the time. He’ll even point out plays that he thinks the only reason he’s running it is to put it on tape and set something up for a big game down the road and sure as shit he’s right nearly every time. Kyle isn’t perfect but I think sometimes he’s just playing a little 3-D chess when we think he’s blowing it.
Love your analysis Coach. Keep bringing the heat! Our schedule is a beast and we need a win in Minnesota next.
That's the plan!

The only problem I have is that he stops running the ball In big games
