36:26 To be fair, most solar panels are about 20-25% efficient at converting solar radiation into electricity, but the difference is that sunlight is a free and renewable resource, whereas oil is costly, non-renewable, and very polluting at every stage from extraction to combustion.
Also note that solar panels are barely recyclable with only the frame and glass being recycled in most cases. If you work hard enough you can recycle the bulk of it, but that is more costly than making a brand new one from new materials so it is unlikely to take off till solar becomes far more common. For the most part solar panels are burned or just thrown in the junk yard which is bad as they do have dangerous substances in them. As a whole though through their life they will put out a decent enough amount of power to back up the dangers they pose post use. Only concern I have for Aptera's panels are the fact they are just sitting on the roof with as far as we know no cooling. Currently roof arrays are raised off the ground to cool them passively but this can't be done on a car. You could run cooling channels under them, but as far as we know, Aptera only runs channels under the car for battery cooling. Something to note if you live farther south or more in the desert.
Not yet, but of course it will if it continues much beyond the beta testing. Beta tests results indicating major changes needed could also delay delivery These risks are detailed in the financial reports.
Same batteries as the ones used in the Tesla Model 3. Given the history with Model S battery packs and the efficiency of the the Aptera, probably looking at 400,000 miles before it drops to below 80% capacity. So I think battery life will be a non issue for most users. Warranty will be via contracts with local independent service centers or if you wish to repair yourself, the vehicle is designed to be easy to repair and the company will provide technical specs and repair manuals.
Would it be worthwhile for both companies to get together as philosophy is similar to work on R and D that would benefit both companies. They would be able to better compete with the big boys.
I ball-parked restoring a Chevy S10 and converting it to electric with LiFePO4 batteries....came out close enough to the cost of an Aptera SOL that I'm waiting !!
I wonwder about replacing the converters and power controllers, they get hot and dusty, that's the main power failures when motors are hot causing voltage resistance. Temperature sensors and data of power components make finding any cause of component or connectivity issues a easy fix, when or should a issue arise.
This isn't Aptera's official channel but I suspect the AC will work well because the car is very small and the composite shell is more thermally insulating than metal. If I find out details, you will definitely hear about it on this channel.
So three years ago when this was made he is talking about battery packs, at the time of me writing this ( 3 yrs later) there is a former employee of Flux Power testing a single pack ( of 5 modules) in process of being built in the building in this video........wow what progress........almost made one pack in three years.......how do they do it?
The Bay area startup I worked for allowed us to bring our pets. I once got a nice order from Microsoft when their buyer heard a dog over the phone, and asked if we allowed pets.
Elio had a board of directors. They should have hired Sandy Munro and Associates on day one! Aptera has been hiring people that will benefit the company in manufacturing, technology, and investing in the company! Definitely a different approach then what Elio did!
So aptera is puting alot of media out for investors to watch, lets say they raise money from private sector will they still put out so much information? The will have moved on to a different lot of investors to cater to.
I’m really thinking about investing I just don’t know yet. If the ceos have other companies that are still up and running then the idea or concept of this company is really intriguing. Let’s not forget jay leno test drove one of the concept cars on this. It’s like if I can use my solar panel hobby grade set up to charge my car then filling up my car for free is very possible. Using a dc solar panel of unknown amperage going into an 8 amp charge controller to batteries 3 in all and hooked up to a 300 watt inverter . It’s like yes it would indeed be slower to charge the car but that concept would be I’m charging a car for free using the solar panels on the car and my setup.
Why is Aptera not in Texas? 🤔Maybe the owners need to have a think tank session about where they are doing business at😉👍 If Elon Musk can do it, Aptera can too!!!
Please Aptera make changing the heating and cooling unit or units and fan easy to change, when needed because ac units don't last , and even ovens don't always get used but burn out sooner or later. I hope right to repair is good for the whole care. I love not having a giant heavy engine to work on Aptera is much needed, because dealers are rip offs not a surprise dealers for gas cars are bankrupting and closing
this amazes me, you can get money for promising something, these are huge amounts of money, whether or not it succeeds the founders will do very well no matter what happens, the investors is a completely different matter. This is so different to the good old days, when your success depended solely on your hard work and efficiencies, this is a model that is so open to exploitation, no accountability for where or how the money is spent............how very interesting. The big question is do these two guys ( fambro and anthony) have what it takes to do this undertaking in a honest manner ? Its been going on now since 2006, thats 14years.......what happened to the aptera first generation investors ?
I owned an HMV Freeway and I understand its failure very well. I had lengthy discussions with similar people (with engineering experience) about what it would take to restart an HMV-like company. When we looked at Elio and its proposed price tag, we concluded that there was no way Elio could make that price point. So I did not invest. Regardless of what they might say, Elio is dead.
@@lenmarinaccio3262 It is fortunate to have the experience to be able to judge. I was involved in a world wide search for a small engine supplier at the time, and knew that Paul Elio's claims of producing their own small engine was a complete fantasy at the prices he was claiming. I eventually ended up with the diesel version of the Smart car engine, produced by Mercedes in their Berlin factory, and we still had to develop our own engine controls for it. It was a huge relief when we passed EPA emissions requirements. This was for a marine diesel electric application.
I’m invested, and I can say I’m a bit worried by the sound of Aptera Not using Tesla Superchargers. This is a great car, but anything other than superchargers is not reliable for those long distance travels. I’m sure customers won’t want to be forced to buy the 600+ mile Aptera to have a 800+ mile trip take less than 1 1/2 hours to charge like a Tesla.
I think the tesla superchargers is still up in the air. The good news is that aptera is so efficient that even level 2 charging will add almost 100 miles an hour which isn't bad and they are doing to do some kind of fast charging and lots of companies are rolling out DC fast charging nationwide so superchargers are currently the most widespread fast charging network but that may not be true for long.
Swappable batteries package easy in and out for everyone with limited parking and condos and apartments, is definitely the go to for electric cars, making aptera more than just any electric car. Aptera would be a car the whole world needs, ,,,,, plus batterie warehouses or stores are the best and easiest way to quickly solve no infrastructures of changing systems along with solar, people will want to purchase two batteries that could be changed easily by lifting slipping in or slipping out for charging not having to travel and wait for a charger and traffic jam. I would buy a mobile battery or battery's. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Only major concern in this video is that in the part about what makes them believe they will hit their time period goals and a better set period for these goals he just goes on a platitude parade about how Aptera understands the purpose of EVs more and how bad ICE cars are. Yeah, I get that, but I would really like to know the question. But they'll never tell anything bad to their investors.
