  • Despite being the black sheep of the Arkham Series, Arkham Origins was my favorite game for 5-6 years. One of the reasons why was how they portrayed Bane. He is much better than his other Arkham City and Asylum counterparts. Now I get the chance to rant about him for around 17 minutes. Also for anyone wondering, Arkham Asylum became my favorite game in the franchise because of its atmosphere and how different it feels from the other games.

At 8:55, I’m surprised you didn’t noticed that the reason Bane learned who Batman is was because of what Batman said to him just after the cops arrived on the roof of the hotel.
“You just ran out of time”
That line right there was the clue Bane needed to find out who Batman was. This goes to show that Bane has a good memory of things cause he could have been watching the news that evening and heard Bruce Wayne say that specific line to Vicki Vale at the beginning of the game,
“You just ran out of time”
And bane immediately put one and one together, recognizing that voice and phrase. That’s why the audio plays over and over with that phrase to let him know that’s how he find out.
Honestly, it took me many years to find out that small detail

It also makes him the pivotal character for the future of the series as TN1 would become titan. Arkham Origins wasn’t the origins of Batman, but of Joker and the Arkham storyline. They didn’t need to do Batman’s origin story over again but showing how the dynamic between Batman and the Joker formed and how the Macguffin of the series started out was important. IMO for a “spinoff” it tied a lot of loose ends from Asylum and City.

This game probably has my favorite interaction between Joker and Bane. Both characters are exactly on point, and neither of them back down in the other's presence. Bane flagrantly dismisses Joker's orders, looms over him like a colossus, and in response, Joker merely cackles and sits back to watch how things go down. I wouldn't be surprised if the Nolanverse versions of the characters communicated in a similar manner if put into the same room.

    • @Rizzy-Bizzy20
      @Rizzy-Bizzy20 Місяць тому +1

Well that might lean more to bane, because you can see a small hint of concern and fear on jokers face, joker basically asserted his dominance over everyone except bane and maybe even deathstroke seeing as how joker was afraid to release him,as stated by slade towards the battle with bane in the arena.
Both joker and bane are perfect rivals to batman but bane challenges Batman in every single aspect whether physically, mentally and intellectually, and psychologically terrifying Batman when he discovers that bane figured out his identity and it’s the first time in the entire series you actually see fear in Batmans face.
Joker is a nutcase and deadly cunning and that’s absolutely amazing, but bane basically asserts himself as the perfect counter to Batman.

I think Bane's assassin introduction is also cool and demonstrates his skills and strength. Bane is up against about three enemies one armored and two enforcers. He jumps down onto the armored one and instantly takes him out of the fight and then he expertly beats the two enforcers before neck lifting the two of them and snapped their necks in a matter of seconds.
The enforcers are about Bane's height and probably weigh close to him as well, which is about 500 pounds. Bane just lifted 500 pounds in each arm and he wasn't even using Venom. This shows how dangerous and powerful Bane is.

I'm so glad someone recognises how great this depiction and writing of this take on Bane truly is. Bane overall is one of my favourite Batman villains in the comics just for how complex and multi-faceted he is as a character; on the surface, people always think he's the muscle with no brain. However, that's extremely far from the truth, where, in reality, Bane is Batman's physical and mental match/superior. Bane is terrifyingly intelligent and a master strategist born in a South American prison. He was raised in said prison with only a teddy bear, his mother (who would later die from malnourishment), and the protection of two kinds of inmates called Bird and Trogg. In such a harsh and brutal environment, Bane learnt at a young age to not let his fear weaken him and learnt to control his fear and spent every moment in said prison to increase his mind and body to peak condition, training countless hours and studying every book he could get his hands on. Bane deduced Batman's identity in the comics by surveilling/examining his movements and deducing where his finances go. He ultimately coordinated a mass breakout in Arkham to release multiple villains to tire Batman so much that he becomes physically and mentally vulnerable, ultimately breaking into his home, wrecking the Batcave and breaking Batman's spine. I know you said you don't read the comics, but if you want to see more of this take on Bane you like so much, I would highly recommend checking out Bane's original debut in *Batman: Knightfall* comic storyline and his origin in *Vengence of Bane*

8:50 New superhero rule: Never say the same sentence twice. Otherwise, they're gonna recognize your voice and figure out who you are instantly. Bruce had unknowingly compromise his secret identity and Bane has been observing him for some time for months. And recently the interview Bruce had with Vicki Vale earlier in the opening "You just ran out of time.". Also, this wasn't the first I've seen it.
This happened before on Iron Man: Armored Adventures years ago when Tony told Obadiah Stane that, in quote, his "manufactured evil" was over. Stane quickly remembered that sentence before with Iron Man and instantly figured out that Tony Stark and Iron Man one and the same. This compromise his secret identity and put all his loved ones in danger.

@@danelisslow3269 From what I remember, the folks at WB Montreal wanted Batman to make mistakes in the game. So I like how he makes this simple mistake and it bites him in the ass. Then he even does what he did in BTAS and started using different voices for Bruce and Batman as seen in Arkham City. It's details like this that make origins so great. (Also I gotta watch BTAS soon)

will ALWAYS appreciate a video that appreciates Arkham Origins. that game deserves all the love it's still getting as one of the 4 Arkham games.
however, Bane doesn't "push" Joker around and "tell him what to do" in a way you're implying. he's telling him in his own brutish way that if he wants to see Batman dead to just wait and he'll kill him for him when he arrives. the determination and confidence excite Joker who is ready to see how it plays out and ends, even by his own demise.
i too replay Origins yearly for xmas and is my favourite in the franchise. i like all of them and don't like to compare, but Origins does everything right and the music pumps the atmosphere to high level. i'm glad people still replay and appreciate this Arkham gem that surpasses other Arkham games in my opinion.

So in essence Bane recognized Bruce’s voice from his interview with Viki where he says, “You just ran out of time” when he says it once again (as Batman) to Bane after the end of the boss the fight. You can make out both versions of the lines during the cutscene where Batman figures out Bane knows his identity. Cool stuff!

Despite him being essentially someone else's henchman in both stories, he's still just as authoritative and commanding at the end of Origins as he was in the beginning, and that is no small feat. The only thing I wish could've been done for Origins' story (aside from all of the assassins being mandatory) is that Deathstroke got to be as much of a threat as Bane. WB Montreal was clearly excited to use him, given the cinematic trailer and him being playable, but he only has one boss fight before disappearing more or less forever. I feel like I remember hearing that Deathstroke was supposed to have two more fights throughout the game where he'd ambush Batman suddenly, but those were cut due to time constraints. But I also can't recall the source on that!

So as a prequel it didn’t make sense to me. But now I realize the suit is heavier and not ideal for his nightly escapades. While from a glance it seems better, it limits him from being as agile and stealthy as hed like to be. Overall the suit is awesome and im glad they went down that route, even if it did confuse me for a good while.

Something about this game just feels more cinematic and full of life compared to other games. This Batman is much more flawed. He isn’t stoic and composed all the time yet instead he’s full of angst and hate. Alfred isn’t some voice who guides you he’s a central character as is Gordon. The villains have more personality and the whole world/atmosphere is far more immersive. And this game by far without a doubt had some of the best boss battles I’ve ever played in a game ever. Because it had glitches on one console for some reason makes it a weak game. This game deserves sequels setting up a trilogy before Asylum tbh.
