Why are Britain's farmers protesting?

British farmers have been staging protests since changes to inheritance tax were announced.
The autumn budget announced that from April 2026 farms worth more than £1 million will have to pay 20 per cent tax above that threshold.
For decades, farming families have been able to pass on their property including land used for crops and animals as well as buildings without having to pay any tax.
