the timing of this is AMAZING, i just finished a nub tail and couldn’t figure out how to do a belt loop correctly with the eva foam i cut out since i sewed the whole thing already. tysm!!
Hi Flint! i just got this account so i can comment now, and i just want to say you have been a really big inspiration for me and a couple of other friends! Your tutorials were very helpful for the making of my first fursuit it took a whole lot of time, but if there were any questions you had already answered them :) Thank you!!
a sandwich this explains it so perfectly! i actually understood every step despite it being a super short video! - question for heat treating did you use steam iron? and steamed it or just straight heat?
For the heat treating, it's kind of both. There is a low temperature setting on irons that is safe for synthetic fabric like fur. You put light pressure on the fibers and let the steam get in and then brush the fur while it's warm. Repeat until smooth 😊
i thought heat was actually bad for fur? at least thats what ive always heard(dryer stories etc.). could you explain a little more how it works? or is it rly as simple as ironing it? thank you
So, heat that is hot enough to melt it is bad (as you know 😅) faux fur is made of polyester, and there should be a setting on the iron that is marked safe for polyester and other synthetic fabric. Just hover the iron over the fur, barely touching it, and use the steam to heat it up. Brush the fur as you go and you can get rid of kinks in the fur! Hope this helps
The way you do the belt loops actually helps a lot! I haven't been the best with making belt loops so this actually helps so much, thank you!
