Hahaha I appreciate you!
I have three of these. Work flawlessly running sonoma and or Bare metal linux. Unreal for its age
Isn't it crazy how a 2012 MacBook can still be a reliable workhorse! (TIL: MacBooks like to correct the word "MacBook" to be capitalised as Mac and Book... huh)
Yup! The build and material play a big role as well not just the specs!
So cool - I have one of these that I upgraded to the full 16gig ram and a 512gb SSD drive still quite quick and can handle 4k video ( Render to file is slowish ) but for a 12 yr old laptop I love that sucker....
Absolutely! I just wished mine came with the higher res display to complete the upgrade
Great video!😊
Thank you!
Can't wait to see it
It’s out now!
Exciting!
Indeed!
I have two of these with Windows 11 installed, they work great
Need to find some time to install it on mine too
nice Easter egg white unibody you got there ;)
Video Coming next week ;)
we have the same model and I also upgrade the dvd drive into additional ssd because the sound of dvd drive annoys me Everytime i turn it on.
Niceee videooo!!!!!!!!😊
☺️ thank you!
can you update to the newest operating system with this?
sir could you share the link of the cloth and spray you used for cleaning screen and completely body shell
You can find many replacements on eBay for $20-50 depending on the condition! And I use Lysol disinfectant wipes to clean!
I have a 2010 13 inch macbook pros I fixed up got it for free but had to put in a new battery, I up graded the hard drive to a 1 tb ssd and 8 gigs of ram plus I put macOS Catalina, it is slow booting but works great otherwise.
Catalina imo is probably the last best version for c2d macbooks, actually mojave because of their 32bit compatibilities, other than that still a good machine
I have a late 2012 Refurbished MacBook Pro that I upgraded to 16g ram and a 500g SSD hard drive. It’s running Sonoma via OpenCore-Patcher. Runs great, maybe slightly hot. I would love to upgrade the CPU somehow so it could be under less pressure from the OS 👍
You your vids are goated edit 1 also I have a 2011 MacBook Pro do you think you could maybe do a vid on one it would mean a lot if you do thanks
2011 15” is actually coming up soon, I have one with a perfectly working gpu!
I still use my 17" 2011 MBP everyday at work. The Radeon died, but it's still a great web computer with it's 16GB of RAM
Fantastic machines! Have plans to make more videos with this perfectly working 2011!
@@cynonexus thank you for all your videos and the knowledge and entertainment they pass along :)
I'm watching on my 2012 15" of near identical spec. Mine is in good shape and has the original battery as well. I have mine dual booted with Catalina and Windows 10. Under Windows it can run Borderlands 2 on max settings and Skyrim SE on Medium.I haven't tried anything more intensive though.
Love borderlands 2!
I have a Macbook 2008 and then after that Mac Airs 2015, 2017, 2018. Now I want to get a 2012 MBP. Prob wait until the end of the month to go to a swampmeet to look for one.
Just curious and wanted to know the max disk speed this 2012 MBP would support. If you install one of the 3500 Mbs SSD, would you see the full 3500+ speed? For my 2008 MB I got around 1500.
These MacBooks are only capable of 2.5” drives so no nvme! Highest speeds on a single drive would be around 400-500 but you can always do a raid0 and do dual ssds to make it even faster!
@@cynonexus Thanks for the info. I think 400-500 is good for me. This saves me time and money from putting an expensive SSD and find out that it didn't do much.
I have a 13inch MBP and I did the SSD and ram upgrade, and it’s still kicking, I will let you know that the Hard drive connector notoriously fails so just replace it.
very common indeed! had to do it to a late 2011 mbp 13"
Which app is that between the music and the App Store icons when he's on Sonoma?
That’s the news letter app
Boot of external drive linux nor windows pls
Have you ever fixed a Macbook keyboard light? Mine broke, I have no idea why
It’s honestly easier to do a complete top case replacement and it would run you probably $20-30 for a decent replacement and that comes with a working keyboard etc!
@@cynonexus Thanks!!
how poot nvidia geforce gt ??
Loving the content, keep up the great work! A small correction, SATA II (like the 2010 MacBook Pro) runs at 3 Gigabytes per second (about 250 Megabytes in the real world with an SSD, given 8 bits in a byte). 300-400 Megabytes read/write per second is on par for a SATA SSD through the SATA III (6 Gigabit/second) connection. I do recommend the antiglare display, it makes the computer seem much more modern with a 1680x1050 resolution. Also, it might be fun to Dremel a bottom-panel with custom intake vents like a Retina MBP, since the unibody Macs suffer from horrible cooling. I recommend Macs Fan Control to watch temps and crank up the fans when it gets hot. Playing games is possible, but not a great experience.. Halo Reach stutters a ton, but simpler games are great.
Thanks! I didn’t realize 2010s went up to 3gbps! I do remember anything older like an 07 is 1.5gbps! The 2010 shell actually had an anti glare display hence why I went with it only to realize it wasn’t compatible at all for a 2012! Completely different wiring which I cut from the video!
Sorry, I meant a 2011/2012 antiglare which would be compatible... I was blessed, my 2012 came with one
Boot off external ssd linux not windows because trust me it will preform way better I speak from experience!
I’ve been downloading many versions of operating systems
😢
Look into the MacBook screen and you'll get a Face reveal 1:39
hahaha
Ayo face reveal @1:40
One day when I reach 1 million 😂
Get an anti glare display
The 2010 shell actually came with the anti glare but unfortunately it wasn’t compatible with a 2012, I need to look for another 2011-2012 displays
Very meticulous repair. Ur too smart. Next project? Replace a desktop monitor. 😅
Haha start small dream big 😆 thank you for watching!
missing part : cleaning ...
11:00 cleaning Timelapse
@@cynonexus I mean cleaning of board and interior ...
oh yeah i did that off camera lol, brushes and air can does the trick@@alimahdavi9775
What’s with all these sudden cuts? After just few minutes they became really annoying. Are you not able to form a single complete coherent sentence? These cuts don’t add any “dynamic” or whatever you might think, they’re just annoying af.
thanks for the view tho lol
@ithinkits8674 dude STFU. Hell shit what is wrong with you?
Anyone know how to upgrade the logic board on this model (13”)? My CPU is a bit stressed and would love to speed it up 👍 Thanks in advance!
