Believe me, I never would have thought I'd wear Turkish slippers, but when Huckberry sent me a pair of Sabahs I quickly found that they easily work into a huge variety of casual summer outfits. Coupled with their superb utility as a travel shoe, I've found myself wearing these leather slippers practically all summer. I wasn't planning to make a video out of them but they've become such a summer staple that I had to spread the word.

Just ordered some of these! Really excited to try them. Thanks for the helpful video
Hi StrideWise,
I've been wearing a similar shoe by HA&OR. And I agree, these shoes are perfect for travelers and humid weather. Worn them on my holiday in the Philippines. Much better looking than flip flops. Loved my HA&OR Turkish slippers so much, I bought a 3rd pair in navy blue. I've been wearing black regularly and hoping to wear my tan HA&OR more often as the weather gets warmer in my home country the USA (Maryland). Stay classy. Love your style.
I've got 2 pair and love them both. As said though, they aren't meant for all day walking wear...but casual day, travel day or attending an event. Perfect.
I’ve been looking at these for years as a sandal alternative, but never actually bought them. Thanks for the review!
Cool glad you liked it!
I love the look of these. Very smart and versatile. I prefer thin soled form fitting shoes for a bit of a bare foot feel.
Same here! Especially for light summer fare
Hi Nick .The uppers on these remind me a little of some Cole Haan driving loafers that I have . Especially my navy blue ones. Also the way I wear my heels down these would be toast in no time.
More durable than drivers though I guess!
Cool summer shoe
I like the look and idea of the shoe, and I can see it working with casual summery clothes (similar to a boat shoe). Seems a bit pricey for what it is though, and I'm not a huge fan of the outsole just being cemented to the leather midsole. Feels like it could delaminate pretty quickly, especially if used daily. Might still pick up a pair if I ever see my size on sale.
Great vid rap, I had never heard of these. I think espadrilles are unbeatable in the summer. Casual though.
Yeah they're cool too, I try to focus on leather here though
I just ordered a pair of these for half the price and same construction from an Etsy dealer. My first full day in them was at SeaWorld. Loved them!
Cool you were able to spend all day on your feet in them!
I have a pair of very similar shoes for half the price from a company called Atlantis shoes. Mine were too big too so I soaked them in water and let them dry in the sun, helped make them a bit snugger
I, too, have a pair of similar shoes from Atlantis Shoes and have been frustrated because they don't quite fit properly. How long did you soak yours for?
I freaking LOVE Sabahs. I have three pairs and am eyeing a fourth (I need a green pair). Obviously they aren't for long days on your feed, but for a typical summer day, they are the bomb. I was skeptical with my first pair, but I'm all in on these now.
yeah i'm wearing them right now around a resort in the caribbean and it looks great heh
They look pretty cool and I like the simplicity of them, I definitely couldn’t pull them off though 😂
Fair enough!
Should compare these with the viberg slipper
i like them but if im personally gonna wear something for the summer, it would be a nice white sneaker from archibald or koio. u cant go wrong with a sick italian low top
Like the design, though I live in a city where even just flip flops feels too hot 😂
Might be a good winter shoe choice for me
Very cool, I can see that if your outfits aren't too overbuilt in winter!
These look pretty comfy they almost remind me of the viberg slippers
Yeah those are a lot more substantial, and wholecut I think, but given the price...
Love my sabahs
A brother!
Pretty sure you can get these for $2-$5 in India. I grew up with shoes like this.
I like them Nick but would probably go with espadrilles instead. They certainly don’t look loose on you at all, the 44s would probably be too tight. If you are feeling adventurous, you could sport a pink or leopard pair, you could definitely pull them off.
Yeah I prefer the look of the soles on these, that's a great alternative though
Really want a pair of these! Alas, $89 USD in shipping to get them to Canada. That brings total up to $284 USD, which is nearly $400 CAD. Too rich for my blood!
Do the shoes need to be sent back to Sabah to be resoled? How much $ for a resole Sabah vs local cobbler?
Not sure of the cost! I wouldn't say any cobbler can do it but most could, you'd need to ask them.
Did you send them back to Sadah? How did the resole workout?
@@stuntmanjohnny shoes are too new at this time, just curious
I'd give them a try, but another brand with no wide sizing? Amazing.
Best boots for wide feet coming up
@@Stridewise Heck yes!
I tried these a couple years back but just couldn’t get them to stretch to my feet.
Ended up throwing them away.
Oh that sucks!
I love all your videos and you own some incredible boots, but I’m really not sure about these slippers. Especially considering the price. I’m leaving them off my wish list.
Fair enough Darren! Just threw them up here as a curiosity :)
👌
Love your videos; but there is no way I am caught dead wearing those....I take that back; I am most likely to be found dead wearing those shoes cause I was unable to run or fight for my life.
Bahaha I hope you'll never wear them then Ed!
@@StridewiseI can bet my life I will NOT! lol
Really really handsome shoes....
Glad you like them Alexander!
these reminds me of chinese wushu shoes or kung fu shoes. the chinese ones are made of cloth and not of leather. literally even the soles were cloth. modern version of the sole has a thin rubber layer. so it's a lot like those sabah's that way. they're also meant to be worn with sizes one or two sizes down coz they will stretch and conform to your foot just like sabahs.
Haha now I want to go watch Jet Li again!
@@Stridewise and i watched a quick interview of the owner of sabah and he apparently doesn't know a lot of geography if at all. sabah is an island off in the south pacific. a heavily contested territory by the philippines and malaysia. filipinos in sabah are a 2nd rate citizen in their own homes even if malaysia themselves pay RENT for sabah for a hundreds of years old contract / convenant by the two peoples by the filipino king of the area.
@@franzb69 OK but it's named for the Turkish word for "morning"
I wanna put some Vibram Commando soles on these lmao.
Wouldn't cop them for free tho
Men who are used to wear espadrilles no problem .......but the others welllll wellllll
Ho .....i wear espadrilles during summer since a teenager 😉
Looks like leather Tom’s
looks like these shoes are sold at a premium and its not really my style, Id prefer some normal loafers or boat shoes
There are a lot of much cheaper options on etsy so no point buying them from sabah.
Also, I never understood the appeal of wearing shoes without socks (except maybe sandals). Socks are just so much more comfortable than barefoot.
You can pull this off
The rest of us probably not !
Haha I guess I'll take that as a compliment!
How do people wear shoes without socks? I get swamp feet immediately, even in freaking sandals. Doesn't happen when I wear socks with my shoes.
I'm right there with you which is why I was surprised that I could handle these shoes without socks quite easily. I guess it's because the upper isn't very heavy and the opening is so big
@@Stridewise Nice, that's positive news.
Also, I spoke way too soon, cos I shortly thereafter saw you addressed that in the video.
Oh nope
Hmm… maybe as a summer slipper when I don’t want to wear my ugg slippers… otherwise penny loafers
def
I saw made in china for under $1... And that is the retail not on sale 😆
link me bro
While I like the look, personally they wouldn’t get much wear from me.
Thanks for watching anyway :)
They're great. I'd gladly take them off you hands (feet), when you're through with them. ;-)
Really mixed emotions about these tbh.... idk... idk....
I like them but feel they lack real practical use. Better shoes for better uses tbh. They are in fact a little too dressy as well..... which is nice and yet also sucks for what I would want to use them for.
Gotta fit the shoe to the person! I find a lot of use for them but it's based on the rest of your wardrobe
@@Stridewise These just seem TOO city shoe focused. Not much use in any area that isn't concrete only areas. Is what it is. Appreciate your style and videos. Really help see brands and styles I myself really enjoy. 👍
Thats just a "jooti".
Yeah. No thanks. It looks too feminine for my taste.
Fair enough!
Is this a joke ? Lol
I'm so sorry but omg they are sooooooo ugly...... I'd rather walk around barefoot on nails then to wear those shoes. (I'm def not a hater, over the years i bought prob 6 pairs of boots and filson bags by watching ur videos. So u know i'm a fan)
No .just no . Are these your moms ? Lol
👌
