My beloved Comsat Angels. This is the band that should have made it big but instead, it was forced to wait until listeners could actually HEAR them. I crown them as the Kings of Music. You can't reach a higher level than that!

Hard to think of an album with more charisma: "Like opening a door to find a maelstrom raging inside a room", Alan Robinson, Nov 2005

Deze rockmuziek is een hele klasse beter dan de huidige streaming-shit die ik tegenwoordig
    op de radio hoor.......!

This album was sonic nirvana in 1981 when it came out - and it still is. I don't understand how this band was back then so under-appreciated. Stephen Fellows is one my favourite guitar players - sparse, but to the point of the whole song.

There is overdubbing on the guitar - 2, 3 guitars sometimes. But yes, he is so effective, creative.

This album is said to have been a huge influence on U2 and their post-Boy 80s albums.

The record shop in Tucson or the hypothetical situation? Found Boom Town Rats on vinyl for $3 with the song "Up All Night" at said record shop.

This song is just so unique and amazingly goooood!!!!! I’m 24 years old wishing I was living in the 80s not in this generation the only good thing about this generation that I could find these good gems on UA-cam!

Brilliant, brings back a lot of memories of times gone by. The late 1970's early 1980's were very peculiar indeed. And Comsat Angels is the soundtrack for that weird, wild ride.

These guys should have flown high on a wave of post-punk and Joy Division love.
Right up there with Killing Joke, and Tension.

Sadly just like the sound who brought out a brilliant album in 81 they were overlooked. As a fan of early U2, Bunnymen and psychedelic furs this is right down my street

Without John Peel the whole landscape of music on this planet would have been very barren. His death was the start of the arrival of the boring generation who didn't need to create because the machines created for them.
Give me a man who has nothing more to lose.
In order to get some more decent music.

She's only gone a day and no one has suggested she was poisoned - could I be the first to say so? How else could they have introduced the mass identification on the planet so that we all are stuck to a mobile phone and without it we are worthless?
She would have stopped that, she was such a good Queen. (She did after all come in through the bathroom window).

    • @blerkh

The opposite is also quite possible: both their debut albums came out in 1980, about a month apart, and the two albums sound nothing alike. U2 already sounded like U2 on 'Boy.' The first C.A. album sounds nothing like 'Sleep No More', or like U2. C.A. adopted a much more atmospheric, reverb-heavy sound, with big sounding drums on 'Sleep No More.' More likely, the similarities are a result of sharing the same influences: Joy Division, Keith Levene-era P.I.L., Television, John McGeoch, etc..

    • @chrisbarlow2131

Probably never. They would assume there isn't enough interest in the band to warrant the effort of loading it onto their system. Their attitude reminds me of how Van Goghs was treated when alive. Shame on them.

@@chrisbarlow2131 there is almost no barrier to entry for Spotify content anymore, as proved by the tens of thousands of cheaply produced, independently released songs that can be streamed there, and the idea that a band as legendary as the Comsats is being excluded on purpose is a strange conspiracy theory...I think it's much more likely that these records are still caught up in some major-label legal limbo that prevents the catalog from being pushed out

This isn't available on Apple Music or Spotify. Dunno why but it's a travesty. Been a fan for years and have all their music downloaded but you can't stream it anywhere that I know of.
