    I have a Boer War Mk IV Webley in 455. It lifts the expended shells when opening it up but will not snap back down unless you do it forcefully. Wish I could find a replacement part though it still functions fine.

    I have an airgun version of the gun but with 2.5 inch barrel back at the start of this year. The c02 seal ended up breaking on me but I did find a solution to it around 2 days ago via using plumbers tape. Would love to have an actual Webley revolver once I hit 21.

    Webley is a very good designed revolver in my opinion in spite of its heavy trigger pull. It is funny how everyone seems to know that 45acp is a little much for the design but no one ever knows what level of loads it takes before it gets risky. And I can see why they wouldn't want a combat handgun with a 4# trigger anyway.

    I actually really like your vids.. if you read a lot of my comments in your other vids you may not think so LOL... but I am a natural cynic. Those Webly guns are really really weak. Kudos for using and loading for one in the original caliber... LOTS of em were converted to shoot 45 acp... bad bad idea. I actually tried some 400 yard+ shots with a converted Webly and I could not hold up high enough

    Saw the .38 caliber Webley in Arizona about 6-7 years ago and wished I could have bought it. Nice firearm that Mk VI and in a .45 caliber. I always thought the Webley was what Indiana Jones had. Do you know if that is true? Thanks Ethan!

    Would .45 Auto Rim from Starline work if you trimmed the length? Or is the rim to thick? Or would .45 Cowboy Special work better?

    • @Real11BangBang
      @Real11BangBang 6 місяців тому +1

      I think it depends on if the webley is shaved or not but alot of people use auto rim in these

    • @Real11BangBang
      @Real11BangBang 6 місяців тому

      This is Ethan.
      Yes, the 45 ACP rimmed cartridges will work perfectly in shaved webleys my only problem with this is is that when they shave the back of the cylinder they also shave the ejector which makes it thinner and easier to break and one of my arms on my ejector have already broken off so I use moon clips

      @@Real11BangBang Okay, cool to know.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 6 місяців тому +1

      @@Real11BangBang I don't know that much about the Webley revolvers but did a little digging on the cartridge. It appears the rim was quite thin, and my guess by your comment "shaving" the cylinder was to provide moon clip thickness room? The original Webley not use a clip? I'm guessing not, due to the rimmed casings I see in the pictures.
      Sort of reminds me of the original 45 Colt casings and how they later changed a little bit to accommodate better extraction, one of the reasons they were never originally chambered in lever rifles.

    • @Real11BangBang
      @Real11BangBang 6 місяців тому

      Yes, the original webleys were chambered in the 455 Webley cartridge which had a much thinner rim. However, when webleys were being imported to the United States, it was found that not very many people had 455 Webley ammunition laying around but they did have a lot of 45 ACP so some genius decided that they're both 45 caliber will just go ahead and machine down the backs of the Webley cylinders to accommodate 45 ACP in a moon clip. The problem with this is is that 455 Webley has a maximum chamber pressure of 14,000 PSI and your average 45 ACP has a chamber pressure of about 28,000 PSI. A lot of webley's blew up because of this. Not only that, 45 ACP has a bullet diameter of 452 whereas 455 Webley actually needs to have a bullet diameter of at least 456, but would be better to have 457 this led to terrible accuracy in the gun shooting standard 45 ACP. These cartridges have been modified to basically be a 455 Webley in a 45 ACP case. The cases have been fireformed to accommodate the larger 260 grain 0.457 diameter bullet on a lighter powder charge
