Well it is revealed in the Pokémon anime that Darkrai isn’t able to control his power of creating nightmares which is why he lives on new moon island so maybe that’s why he’s depressed he doesn’t mean harm but he can’t control his powers.😢

The nightmares that incapacitate you are a defense mechanism, and they’re meant for extremely strong Pokémon, it doesn’t want young humans to suffer them in the slightest. It secludes itself specifically because it’s skittish and can’t control its powers the best.

here's some lore I thought up with my totally real brain: One of Darkrai's victims of his nightmare causing capabilities is comatose. The doctors have suspected they wouldn't wake any time soon, thus they are merely left, to face this nightmare for as long as eternity can wait. Fighting on a bridge, the same one they fell comatose on. This potentially infinite battle is one without moves, merely a battle between surviving or succumbing to the darkness.
DAAAAAMMNN this is fire! Keep the good work dude, already anxious about what's to come, can't wait to see how Ash's dream will be like, regardless, I know a lot of effort is being put into these, great job

It will sound stupid but... remember the Pokémon fan series "Starter Squad" more specifically episode eight where in search of Squirtle, Charmander and Bulbasaur enter the Pokémon tower and face a Haunter who tries to scare Charmander without success... well this one song put me in perspective, like I said, it's stupid but I like the idea😂😂😂.
I propose that it be organized like this, minute 0:00 Charmander is walking up the stairs with Bulbasaur (with the caterpillar head as a hat) angry about not being able to find Squirtle, minute 0:31 the demonic Haunter appears to fight Charmander, minute 1:04 Charmander throws a rock at little Haunter to make him turn into his normal form, 1:31 puts us in perspective of the hallucinations that Haunter causes Charmander and Bulbasaur (corpses, tombstones and a faceless Red), minute 2:00 Haunter disguises himself as Bulbasaur and a couple of notes later in squirtle (well, rather in the blue deformity that appears in the episode), minute 2:34 is full of details and all the time they move the perspective camera constantly to distract us (up, down, left, right, forward, back, first person, third person, etc.) in addition to being full of details like the smiling bench , the blue deformity in the background walking and leaving the screen, more hallucinations and many more details and effects and at minute 3:10 onwards we have a scary jumpscare (reference to the episode) and although at this point it is already a cliché, it would be interesting see some dark purple arrows that get lost when you touch them but I'm just playing with my imagination🤣🤣🤣.
