Villa Floridiana is a historic villa which was built in 1890, designed by the architect of Casa Savoia [the house of Savoy] on commission by Count Nino Rezzonico. The property is situated inside a well-tended 4,390 sq. m park with two fountains embellished with original bronze sculptures, a pergola and a chapel. It faces southeast and enjoys stunning views of the lake, the surrounding mountains and the city. Sadly ,in Switzerland (which is most lovely and pretty in the summer months ) one always becomes achingly aware of the worrying sight of the giant cranes.The giant cranes mar the whole loveliness of Switzerland...

@@Gobbersmack Sadly ,you are thoroughly right,for there is not more ugly town than a town filled with eery utterly tall buildings and sky-scrapers .In Montreux ,for example ,there is only one high-rise building (hotel Eurotel ) and it was enough to mar the loveliness of the whole Montreux. The tall block-like buildings already marred and utterly uglified the townscape of Milano ,Paris,Monte Carlo and the most towns of Europe,but ,for God sake,I want Lugano to stay architecturally unscathed !
