    I've been a proud Scania employee for 10.5 years. The first 4 of them were in this very factory starting out with assembly and then doing quality control. Thanks to Scania's internal education initiative I then moved on to transmission machining as a CNC operator. For the last 2.5 years I've been working as a supplier quality manager at Procurement. We make sure every single part that is going to be mounted on our vehicles live up to the requirements before we release them for production.
    If anyone has any questions regarding what goes into building one of these and how we work to ensure premium quality for our customers I'd be happy to try and answer them 🥰

      @@user-by7hj4dj9s & @Xirque666 Any vehicles being imported ( under 25yo) have to pass American EPA regulations, that’s what Bryan and Scania are doing! They are making the necessary adaptations to make it match the EPA regs and hence legal to import into the US 👍 There is no need to “change any rules” as every country has its own regulations regarding vehicles, so you just have to simply meet the requirements of that market/country which is the same case for any vehicle sold/ imported in any country in the world!, hence “the 25 year rule” does not affect competition in any way, shape or form, infact it’s of great help to classic vehicle importers/dealers/hobbyists who might otherwise have to alter foreign classic vehicles which would in turn ruin their originality, “tax” is also not affected and is at the same rate as any other vehicle that’s imported, there seems to be a lot of misunderstandings, very wrong assumptions and general guessing/misinformation made by many on this subject.

  • @Spoon2006
    @Spoon2006 15 днів тому +65

    It's awesome to see that scania is coming to the USA, a EU spec struck designed for the USA. I'm a truck driver in the UK and have driven most brands, every truck has its pros and cons but one of the biggest things I find good about scania over any of brand is the quality and refinement of the final product. Everything is with in reach of the driver and mechanical switches that work. Small things like the buttons to control the suspension on the dash unlike other brands that use a controller on a fly lead. The only thing I wish scania would include as standard that other brands have do put on on the base models are, adaptive cruise control, auto wipers and head lights, led head lights. Scania stands out from the rest of the other brands but I feel are falling behind in terms of the base models. Congrats on becoming an ambassador for scania.

    • @BRxRanger
      @BRxRanger 15 днів тому +2

      I like driving scania at work but I'd rather have a manual headlight switch than those auto buttons they've started making standard. I want to be able to leave my side lights on for work lights and inside trailers. Other than that, as you say, everything is within comfy reach.

      And who is the owner of Scania now?

    • @Spoon2006
      @Spoon2006 14 днів тому

      @@BRxRanger you can still set up the headlights to manual, just the dash screams at you. We don't have lights inside our torque liners so it doesn't really effect me, worse case scenario I got 2 magnetic torches to put on the side and lights the inside up. I drove a bit daf last month and I hate the things but the only 3 good things about it were the space in the cab as I'm a tramper but you have a bed on top which doesn't make up for the cupboards that scania have, the head lights are led and are really good, auto wipers and headlights and finally the cruise control. Being fully adaptive it was easy to drive and I didn't have to watch the over speed as it won't let you. The down side is the lack of tachograph information, the suspension is on a fly lead control which is not great and just the quality and fitness. Sounds totally stupid but it's the little things that can make life so easy.

      @@MrTimodon as far as I'm aware it's under the banner of vw which so is man. Looked at a man the other day and you can tell it's vw but again it's lacking the finesse and features tbh. Things like the fog lights, extra driving lights, suspension controls, tachograph information, cruise control etc just takes alot of stress off the job. The inside of the cab reminded me of the old scania between the 4 series and next gen. The driver did say its a good truck apart from the gear box is very slow to change and the air tank capacity is not great.

    Bruce, I think it is excellent that you have managed to arrange this and become an Agent of Scania (sounds like that could be a Marvel Film?) - getting European Trucks back in to the US market will be good - the US manufacturers appear to have stagnated, wheras competition in the European market has pushed manufacturers to make better and better products - if that forces US manufacturers to up their game - that is good for US truck operators. Its a good thing you are doing - although walking around the factory you do look like a big kid in the candy store!!

    I hope that Scania makes european style trailers to match the truck, to showcase how they, compared to the US trailers, snug up to the cab, and delivers the weight differently (together with the 3 axle trailers, also with tag) to the trucks axsles (moves the weight forward).

    • @Pesmog
      @Pesmog 11 днів тому +1

      I am on vacation in the USA this week and have been specifically looking at their trailers as I drive around the Rockies. There are now a few trailers out here approximately in the European style where they sit hard against the back of the cab with the trailer axles 70% along the chassis and with aerodynamic side panels, but it is not many. The Euro-style trailers that I have seen have been two axle rather than three and have been 53 feet (16m) box vans with rear doors. There are a lot more roundabouts in the USA than there used to be and moving the trailer axles forward and putting the front of the trailer closer to the back of the cab makes negotiating roundabouts way easier with a 53 foot trailer. 👍

    Many friends and colleagues of mine, after all those years in the transporting industry, are declaring that, It is a privilege somehow here in Europe, to own or drive a Scania.. Even I ,while I was an owner-operator in Greece some decades before, had this feeling, although I was a F12,Volvo owner operator !! (by the way, it was a VERY good truck for me..I had it for 9 years..)I have to confess though, that Scanias, have a very good reputation to be a VERY strong and reliable truck (but more "pricy" than other trucks).. They are very much helped also from their stylish and modern looks they have ..Anyway, they are in the frontline of the Truck market,all over Europe.. Sometime before in the last decade, I was working as a driver for a company wich was using mostly MANs in their fleet.. Well, sometime, I had the opportunity to drive a brand new MAN TGX 500 wich had the new (then..) Scania 14 gears ,gearbox, instead of the ZF 12 gears they usually had, up to then.. I drove it for almost, one year, about 60.000 Kms.. Honestly it was a VERY BIG difference in every aspect.. Especially in uphills (or better in upmountains !!) BIG difference... The example that comes in my mind is that in the FIRST complete roundtrip to Greece was the following.. We were two trucks together this day.. EXACTLY the Same trailers, exactly same load and exactly the same MAN TGX 500 s 4x2 BUT I had the SCANIA 14 speed gearbox on mine...The other, had the ZF one... Also they were equipped with very similar intarders.. (this means internal retarders ...).. So.. at some point,we had to drive on the Fokida mountains (mountains Iti and Giona and so on..)with direction from Lamia to Patras Port to get on the ferryboat to Italy... This road ( The first part of it, named BRALLOS after the village Brallos there..A "traditional old mountainus road " in Greece.. ) is a very difficult, on the mountains road , VERY "curvy" , with not so long uphills (so , the horsepower to prevail..) and curvy downhills and short straights (so, the disc brakes and the retarders, to make the difference..).. I could see our difference when I was on the opposite mountain side ..At some time I lost my friend from my sight..) At our destination Port,he arrived some half-an-hour later... Well Bruce.. Keep this piece of my story in your mind when you drive your Scania and consider that on a truck, EVERYTHING makes the difference...Starting from the first bolt to the driver's experience,so ANY vehicle to do it's job better... I wish you Good luck for this part of your life...

It’s a Freight Shaker and the build quality is debatable to say the least. I was seriously looking at the new S13 platform in an LT but might hold on now and wait for the day when I can get a real Scania. Drove a 1994 143 Scania and a 2004 164 in Europe for a living and although I love my American metal I miss my Scania. Volvo I am not a fan of as while they make a good product their customer service is diabolical. It will be a great day for Owner Operators in the USA when they can go down to an International Dealer and spec out a Scania with a V8 and a gearbox retarder.
