*Great reel, **enjoyable.fishing** recommend very smooth and I love that you can change from left hand to right hand so easily. Gave it a 4 on durability because I haven’t had it long enough to rate it. Doing good so far.*
Highly recommended. I was taping my finger to prevent cuts. This device is simple to install and use. Small learning curve for timing, but a real finger saver.
Yea, I am so sorry about that!!! I have a couple of surf fishing videos on my channel here that show the cannon in action, and you can see my wraps. Vinyl electrical tape works better than zip-ties to fix to the rod, and once braid gets wet, I always do three wraps now.
I can see the point of them but you lose the fell of the line on your finger. When I do big casts I can tell when the rod is fully loaded by the pressure of the line on my finger.
The black ring is a hose washer that was zipped-tied to the rod. I use the washer as a hook holder. So that I can keep my pole rigged for the next time. Now, I use the loop of the casting cannon to hold my hook.
Yes Justin that was not well done. I will change camera angle and try again. I described what I was doing though it would have been better to show at the same time. There are some other folks that demonstrate these, showing it all better.
@@pvancelette Thank you so much for responding Paul! I have just purchased a casting cannon & I desperately wanted to know how to apply it to my surf-caster....I noticed you mentioned wrapping the braid TWICE AROUND the metal extension before pulling the trigger. I also notices 2 other vids where the presenters only mentioned/showed only ONCE AROUND the metal extension....I'm carrying an 8-sinker, so I do believe your explanation of TWO TIMES AROUND the extension will work better for me! Tight lines buddy & keep on showing us novices your skills & thank you so much for sharing your experiences!
@@rampager126 - I even do three wraps sometimes. When the braid gets wet, it gets more slippery. Tighten your drag a bit before setting up with the Cannon. The spool can slip too, sometimes. The goal would be least amount of wraps, I know a few folks that do 4 wraps. It all comes off in microseconds when you release. Good luck!!! This will improve your casting once you get the hang of it all.
@@pvancelette Awwwwesome! That is the information that is most valuable! You have already done the hard yards for us newbies! I absolutely appreciate your experience! Thank you once again Paul!
Looks like just another fishing gimmick to me. Been fishing for 40 years and never needed one before. Hell I’ve never heard of it till a few months ago.
I hear you. First time for me as well. But throwing heavy sinkers (3-6oz) for surf fishing with braid can wear out your finger. Some folks actually get cuts on their finger. So sure; tape your finger, or maybe wear a glove. These casting cannons only cost $12. For the ease of surf casting, these help a lot.
@@pvancelette are you using one of the knock off brands or the "original" breakaway bc1 cannon? I've not seen them for les than $20 and was a bit wary of the other brands like power cast etc because of a few reviews about cheaper plastic/breaking easily. Which bionic finger did you go with for $12?

Finally someone gave a great tutorial,I was about to return my casting cannon, received it yesterday and thought it was broken or something.thanks
I just bought this item but I have no idea how it works. But now I got an idea from your video. Thank your for your quick tutorial 😃👍🏻

Nice instructions! Thank you. You helped answer a lot of questions I had.
I could not see how you wrapped it twice, your hand was in the way. Anyway never heard of this thing but I am definitely getting one. For surfcasting

Move your hand out of the way for people to see how you wrapped the line.
Awesome tutorial, Paul! I truly appreciate it!

I’m interested. Might try one out.
What’s the black ring you have on top that’s also snugged down with the zip tie?

@@pvancelette Ah, okay. That was all I could think of, some type of hook keeper. Thanks!
Cool rod
You covered the main steps with your left hand & I failed to see your demonstration. You did that twice!

@@THEDUTCHT0UCH - I do not believe these are knock-off brand. You can order these cheap from thesinkerguy.com/shop/ for $11.99.
@@pvancelette awesome thank you for the quick reply and the link, price is better than amazon and i'd rather support a small business!
I recently sliced my finger on some braid. Wish I was using one of these. First time in 20 years I've done it. Hurt and cut deep.
