By far this is the best interview with Voss and i watched MANY of hiw interview. Either voss was in a good mood that day or the interviewer is the real deal
Totally agreed. Since listening to this interview when it was released I have heard Chris in several other interviews and read his book. This is still the best interview and the one I refer people to when telling them about Chris Voss.
"Negotiation skills are perishable and you don't know (while you're still sharp from good training). They erode invisibly." Brilliant. Your observation about how people respond to the direct and honest voice explains a lot about how the passion of a blunt tone comes across in a harsh manner to the receiving side, when the sending side seems to unconsciously raise their voice as they tell themselves they aren't being heard when in reality they are. Thank you for sharing so much clarifying insight about how we can stop unintentionally taking ourselves hostage when we recognize the context of how communication components move together.
Listening to this podcast has been one of the coolest things i have ever done between 2 and 4am. Thanks to the magnificent host and Chris, you are fantastic!
This is really great! This the first interview I’ve heard of Chris Voss (who I admire quite a lot...) where he went off-script and just talked. Very informative. I learned a lot. Says a lot about the interviewer! Thank you!!!
Such a great review of Chris’s book. Love how the interviewer asked such relevant and thought provoking questions. It’s helped me understand Chris’s work at an even deeper level. Keep up the great work!
"Let the other person speak" & *Instead of running away from principal(s) go fight your fears and save yourself.* Very productive interview. Its Sunday early morning here in Boston with birds chirping :D
Hi Shane, a suggestion: it'd be great to add a timestamp on the questions mentioned in description, so if I want to refer a particular question again, I won't have to search through the entire video
It seems like you’ve got the next steps on your mind It seems like you have something on your mind These types of phrases unlock the floodgates of the person’s mind
Spot on chris. I don’t see a BATNA, when i am trying to negotiate a settlement with a creditor who has obtained a default judgement against my 75year old mom.
Yeah this is definitely one of the better and or best interview with chris I've seen and heard. Great job Shane sorry that this does not have more views or is one of the more popular ones. You could definitely use a better mic. Other then that amazing interview. Blue series mic's make a good podcast USB if you are not using a pre amp. Also another really good cheap one is the Samson meteor mic it's like 60 bucks I made a whole mixtape with it people said it sounded phenomenal.
GOOD video! Another GREAT life-hack resource is a piece titled The Hatchet Man's Playbook - a LOT of eye-popping , non-obvious stuff! Can't recommend it highly enough!

Interviewer did a GREAT job of asking Voss such good questions. You clearly had done your homework and were listening.

Never be mean to someone who can harm you by doing nothing.

I'm going to echo some of the other commenters: excellent job on the part of the interviewer.
"How am I going to do that?" Is a great way to say no.
wonderful!
Yes, amazing conversation I read the book a couple of time was really good.
Spot on chris. I don’t see a BATNA, when i am trying to negotiate a settlement with a creditor who has obtained a default judgement against my 75year old mom.
actually these 4 words are very powerful "i do not have it". Essentially, you are starting your negotiation at zero
Let the other side have your way
Great info. Can't wait to read his book!
You success rate in anything will be higher when you focus on learning
Fantastic interview. Great job!
I pray that God find a way for me to see my brothers again 🙏🏻
Great interview! New subscriber here ❤
Proactively listen to fear of loss
Very informative. Nice work.
Any time you want to get a "yes" or you have "I want..." in mind, you are in a negotiation.

grade A. thank you for doing this
I like the interpersonal technologies Chris teaches, I wish there were some live real world demonstrations of his techniques in operation to view.
Chris is teaching you how to think....not what to think.
王英雄 just try the techniques. They work amazingly. Completely changed the dynamics of my relationships.
Well, what’s the #1 suggestion to let someone think they’re getting their way?
