  • If someday you should see Thomas the Tank Engine puffing happily along the line, he may be on his way to a village nestled deep in the north of the Island. One December morning, Thomas whistled to all people on the platform. “ it's nearly Christmas and I'll bring you lots of letters and parcels.”
A week later, the harsh winter storms came. The island was smothered in a thick blanket of snow. That combined with the icy rails made work difficult for the engines. Many engines were called away from their normal duties to help workers hack away at the frozen piles of snow.
Thomas and Percy were collecting special post for Christmas. Thomas said, “station master told me that there's lots of post for the village. I’ll need an extra truck for it all.” Percy was feeling left out, “that’s not fair. You don’t even like the post-train.” “I do when I get to see you suffer.” Just then, the station master ran up, “there’s an emergency at the big station. Thomas, your need at once. Percy, stop what you're doing and take the post to the mountain village.” Percy was delighted, but Thomas was sad, his plan was ruined. “I get to take the post-train! I get to take the post-train!” sang Percy as he departed.
Percy was making good time when there was a loud, “bang.” Which gave his’s wheels felt a tingling sensation. He had ran over a fog detonator, which meant he had to slow down. Ahead was Old Baily, the fog man. “Stop Percy. Stop!” “What’s the matter, sir?” “There’s been a snow slide and the village is cut off. We need snow plows, about three dozen workers, and a helicopter! Leave the post in the siding.,” Percy did as told.
The small engine was soon steaming to Helen’s airfield. “Wake up laze wings! The mountain village needs our help! They’re stranded.” “With help. I like a good emergency to keep me warm,” and he buzzed away. “Now,” pondered Percy, “what next?” Suddenly, there was Thomas with Terance tractor and a works coach. Percy buffered up behind Thomas and they set off.
The two engines battled their way through the mounds of snow. Many times they got stuck and had to be dug out by the workers. Eventually, the village came into view. Helen was already there, busily dropping packages of food. Terance made quick work of the snow once he was unloaded. Then Thomas and Percy cleared the track. It took a lot of hard work, but in only a few hours the village was cleared.
The villagers cheered, “well done, Percy. Well done, Thomas. You’re the best Santa Claus we’ve ever had!” Percy was befuddled, “what’s a Stnata Claus?” “Santa Claus is a jolly old fat man who brakes into people’s houses to give them gifts. Which reminds me, isn't your post-train still in the siding?” Percy scuttled away. A moment later, Toby and Henrietta came, “we’ve brought hot drinks and food for the villagers.”
Soon after, Thomas and Percy went home. Toby however stayed behind. The villagers need him for a plan to thank the engines. They loaded lots of parcels into Henrietta and they set off through the moonlit countryside. All the engines were asleep in the sheds when Toby trundled silently into the yards. He had no clue what the villagers were going to do, but he was intrigued to see what it was.
When the engines woke the next morning they found the sheds had been repainted and decorated. Parcels lay everywhere. The engines sang in delight and everyone agreed that it was a very merry Christmas.
