This is my favorite video of yours. You’ve taken two fish I’ve dismissed as boring, and left me absolutely obsessed with this tank!! Please show updates!! Stunning!!
Absolutely gorgeous!!! The fish selection is perfect!!! I can't get over the way the swordtails glow!!! The mollies are a classic and are just beautiful!!! The new plants you've never had before are stunning. I just love love love this tank!!! Great job, MD!
This is truly wonderful. My grandfather is the one who got me into the hobby when I was a kid. Black Mollies and Swordtails were his favorites, so it absolutely warms my heart seeing them together in this aquarium. And of course now I'm getting all sentimental and wanting to set up a similar tank straightaway. Thank you so much for this video. Blessings to you.
Love this set up! I just recently added black mollies to my planted tank to take care of hair algae, but I've ended up enjoying them way more than I ever expected. The jet black color is so hard to find in most other fish species
Mrs MD needs a pay rise ASAP...the studio looks spotless..can't wait to see some of the videos of her doing some maintainance training .love the channel, keep it up MD
Gorgeous tank. Idk how anybody can afford all that but the rest of us can live vicariously through your videos 😂 love the minimal hardscape in this one.
I love that MD photoshops himself into the thumbnails and each time he gets progressively smaller and now he's just a little gnome crouching in the corner of the fish room
Gorgeous tank - I love the black mollies ! I have a male solid black plakat betta that reminds me of the mollies. The solid black really pops against the green plants ! He lives in a 5 gal heated filtered tank all by himself but he is happy & healthy. I've had him18 months now. His name is Marty & he sends his love ! ☺
I think that the stand building is so cool and I would love to see a video dedicated to your stands and how to build one!! I am looking into building a stand for my 20 Gal and have some plans sketched out with my dad, but haven't started it yet. I love all your videos and would love a deep dive into stands!
I'm glad the API products work for you. The quick start never worked for me and the aqua clear only made my fish tank water more cloudy. Never cleared the water up. Had to do massive water changes to clear up the water.
The studio looking class I went back the other day to watch some of your earliest videos wow how far you’ve come not only as a content creator but also a planted tank hobbyist well done 👏 👏👏👏👏👏
Very impressive stocking. I think it's because it is unique. It seems aquascapers stay away from mollies and swordtails because the small schoolers disappear almost into the tank and just provide a little movement. These fish definitely do not disappear. I appreciate that you went for them if nothing else but to show off great fish and how they can work in a planted tank. Take care.
Love it! I've started like everybody with life bearers...now, in my fifties, I programmed myself to like the South American species... but you cannot just dismiss the life bearers completely! Lovely setup! ❤
I had a brown algae outbreak in one of my tanks. After I got it sorted, most of the plants melted back from it, but then I added six albino Kribensis and they went straight for melted leaves. The love the mulm too! I was completely surprised! I also had that white fungusy looking stuff covering a large piece of driftwood, and these four albino plecos I added had that wood looking like it was polished in about three days. Fish are amazing!
Only time I would use quick start is if I am setting up a tank with an expensive fish the same day as I am adding it. But NOT without Biomedia 1 kilo Ceramic. But he has fish and that amount of plants with co2 running. Its fine without anything. Just test the tank for ammonia every day, and nitrit, as soon as you see nitrate and no nitrit it is pretty much started to work as you want it to.
Looked good with just the plants, but when the fish were put it it made it look more amazing! Those mollys are such a sharp contrast to the vibrant green and I love those bright red/orange fish!
Colombo - would love to see your products available in the U.S.! U.K./E.U. has some really great accessible aquascaping components/plants even some of the best fish are coming from E.U. breeders too.
Excellent video! I have been watching you and two other aqua scapers for a long time. Your approach and love of the plants and fish is the best. thanks for such great videos.
I live close enough to Taunton where Matt's shop is, that I'm planning on going down there next weekend to get some more fish. Hopefully Matt will be there and if I'm really lucky, MD will be there as well 🙂
Love these new setups. Probably 100 other people already commented this, but timers on the CO2 really help. CO2 an hour before the lights and then off 1-2 hours before lights off saves a lot of gas. Also I only have a 5lb tank on a 90L aquarium, and it’s lasted me a year and still going. So trips to buy new CO2 are very infrequent (for anyone else deciding)
@@MrRuud109 he used the Aqua Essentials Colombo CO2 Reactor, that appears to only be available in the UK. In the US, looks like Fzone and MagTool sell the same product
Quck start is good, but what is even better it a kilo ceramic biomedia that has been running on another aquarium. I always have an extra lying in my sump, so if I start a new tank or a new filter, I can put in biomedia, Aqua Nova has one that comes in a bag with a zipper for 7 pounds, if you dont have that take a sponge from and old aquarium filter, and clean it the day you set it up. Clean it in the new aquarium, it sounds weird to make a mess directly, but that and what he called ghost feeding beats quick start any day of the week.
Nice video thanks- for cleaning glass from dried algae and calcium, I heard rubbing it with crumpled up baking parchment paper removes it with ease- can't wait to try this myself.... 😎
I made a heavily planted Algae aquascape. it is going great, the Algae is thriving and yet to see Cyanobacteria emerge. the Amanos and otos are loving it
I love your knowledge and obviously what you do..I was just sorting my tanks and didn't think much to the gravel substrate so cleaned the tanks and water changes and the look of the gravel and plants looks ace.looks wavey like in a stream would look..it does look good..carry on what your doing its good stuff..
a suggestion for the big tank inbetween 60 bettas and this one. Do a huge colony of shrimps, can be caridina or neos. Amano, hillstream loaches or ottos can be added since they pretty much safe for shrimps as they wont prey on baby shrimps. You can even call the tank algae eating only tank!
This setup is so beautiful, stunning job you did MD. Be careful that the wood in that tank doesn’t decrease your ph too much because I’ve heard of mollies not doing well in tanks with certain wood that decreases ph
definitely learnt this in a hard way. most livebearers dont like low ph, and i love to scape my tanks with alot of woods. I was wondering why my guppies, swordtails and mollies isnt breeding, and when they do, the babies amount are very few, like 1-3 babies only. I had to swap them for tetras
Love your content mate. Spent the last week binging your previous videos! Inspired me to buy at 28 litre tank this week and do my first planted tank ever. Plan on having some Chilli Rasbonas and different coloured shrimps. Think im going to go with soil and sand capping. I got the Interpet Aqua Cube that Fish shop Matt done recently. Keep it coming mate love this new hobby!
Great aquarium as always! If I remember correctly, mollies are more closely related to guppies (and can crossbreed with them) and swordtails are to platys (they can also crossbreed), but mollies and swordtails can't crossbreed with each other because they're not closely related enough.
Vary nice! I needed some ideas for my new 29 gallon that I added to my collection. Lots of plants with blue dragon guppies, orange corys, and green jade shrimp!
No idea how it works in the UK, but in the Czech republic it's fire extinguisher shops for regular pressured bottles while Soda Stream bottles can be refilled in Tesco. In general I'd ask firefighters, a locksmith or whoever else is welding with gas where the pressured CO_2 bottle can be refilled.
3 time watching this video. Absolutely love this tank! ❤ The black mollys and Red Swordtails are amazing together! I have a planted tank of Pineapple Swordtails with Snakeskin guppies that has been thriving for over a year now. I’d love to see more colors and varieties of swordtails.
I wanna see you attempt a plenum/anoxic tank as outlined by Kevin Novak! He says it requires few water changes and says it's absolutely the best for keeping goldfish! Can't wait to watch the video later when I get home!
Flamingo crypts are my favorite aquatic plant. Almost impossible to find in my area as well. Super excited to see those things looking good and pink soon especially under that nice light
Nice choice MD, mixing the black mollies and the red swordtails, and not adding another color mollies. Plus, it would be a cichlid keepers' dream tank if you do a scape for those vieja synspilum:)
I have a black molly taht came from one of my Gold Dust Lyretails, and she started with 1 blue scale on her tail, she now has about 15 blue scales its so pretty
Rotala Macrandra can make a right mess, looks great though :) Your point about getting CO2 tanks, you will eventually! DIY is ok to start with but soon gets annoying to refill. Going to pick up a new tank once or twice a year is much more convenient!

No, that is why I never have done the dutch style either. The driftwood with anubias, Microsorum or Buce looks so much better! 🤗
I remember about 3 years ago when you had your studio in the back yard and you had those 4 tanks delivered and your brought your son to the fish store, and he wanted you to do a tank with black mollies and you said one day you would, awesome to see it come full circle 😊
I miss those days
Yes. Would enjoy seeing his son’s reaction.❤
Question is, will Bubs get another Pirate Ship tank? 🤫
👍🏼 Agreed
I'm glad you remembered. It's the main reason I'm so fond of them 😊

Gorgeous tank. Idk how anybody can afford all that but the rest of us can live vicariously through your videos 😂 love the minimal hardscape in this one.
Ditto!😂
Love the contrast on these two main stars! Absolutely lovely. One of my favorites of yours!
The orange swords are stunning under that light! I have kept red velvet swords for years and love them but they have never looked that bright!
WOW, huge thanks for this video and showing off the products with details in the description. You are the greatest of all time, thank you!
Substrate composition is really important. I think that's why MD's plants always look so good.
And that he has soft water is a big advantage as it holds more Co2.
I love that MD photoshops himself into the thumbnails and each time he gets progressively smaller and now he's just a little gnome crouching in the corner of the fish room

Beautiful tank. Mollies and sword tails look great together.
You've outdone yourself. Very nice! Black mollies are one of my favorites. They do a fair job eating algae too, at least in my planted tank.
I think the little bit for luck of extra Leaf Zone is about 8 extra doses 😂

This setup is so beautiful, stunning job you did MD. Be careful that the wood in that tank doesn’t decrease your ph too much because I’ve heard of mollies not doing well in tanks with certain wood that decreases ph
definitely learnt this in a hard way. most livebearers dont like low ph, and i love to scape my tanks with alot of woods. I was wondering why my guppies, swordtails and mollies isnt breeding, and when they do, the babies amount are very few, like 1-3 babies only. I had to swap them for tetras
Thank you for this video. I'm going to copy this set-up. Just ordered a 90cm by 50cm high tank.
Well done i really like this tank dude fish look fake under those lights its like a fish cutout swimming around simple lots of plants perfect dude
Amazing as always..... Finally you make molly and swordtail tank🥰
3 time watching this video. Absolutely love this tank! ❤
The black mollys and Red Swordtails are amazing together! I have a planted tank of Pineapple Swordtails with Snakeskin guppies that has been thriving for over a year now.
I’d love to see more colors and varieties of swordtails.
Wow, this is absolutely bloody gorgeous!
Loving the new studio!!
CRAZY AWESOME!!!!!! nice work MD.
I wanna see you attempt a plenum/anoxic tank as outlined by Kevin Novak! He says it requires few water changes and says it's absolutely the best for keeping goldfish! Can't wait to watch the video later when I get home!
Do you have a video of you building that tank stand? I'd love to see how you do it!
Sthis is my favourite tank that u make so far....I'm loving it
I love API I love them it's all natural
Love this. Ive had clown plecos for over15years. I never see them. Maybe once a month and when I do a rearrange. I love them. My secret fish😂.
Absolutely gorgeous, I'm really missing my black mollies now.
Box the light came in says "Your personal aquascape studio". Appears they have made boxes especially for MD. 🙂
its plant heaven! 😍
THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL AQUARIUM!
Good call, swordbearers are so cool
Flamingo crypts are my favorite aquatic plant. Almost impossible to find in my area as well. Super excited to see those things looking good and pink soon especially under that nice light
He’s such an awesome buddy
MD THIS NEEDS A BLACK BACKGROUND! IT'D LOOK SICK!
Liking the new merch, would love some more colourful tees and hoodies :) Much prefer the ones that are plain on the back.
@Official_MDFISHTANKS who the hell uses telegram these days 😂 what's your WhatsApp number?
The black and yellow mollies are pretty!
Hey MD, a 4ft saltwater "planted" macroalgae tank would be absolutely insane!!
I think you’ve been watching MJ.
Maybe one day. I've got a ton more ideas vefore that though. I've got 2 more 4ft tanks coming in the next few weeks 😁
Yay!!
What is the green lotus type plant in this fish tank?
Nice choice MD, mixing the black mollies and the red swordtails, and not adding another color mollies. Plus, it would be a cichlid keepers' dream tank if you do a scape for those vieja synspilum:)
Lovely tank... just a quick note, Swordtails can be jumpers! keep an eye out! Great job.
Hey MD, the new tanks all look great, can you try some more tetras maybe?
coming very soon 😁
@@MDFishTanks can't wait!!! 🤩
Mollies eat slime. Absolutely great fish to keep!
34:45 is that a sailfin? the photos I've looked at of sailfin plecos have been slightly different but still the closest to this one. I
Anybody else notice that PUFFERFISH? That thing deserves a two syllable damn! Dayumn!
We're waiting for that Angelfish tank🤩
I have a black molly taht came from one of my Gold Dust Lyretails, and she started with 1 blue scale on her tail, she now has about 15 blue scales its so pretty
Fantastic combo for a great planted tank! I've been planning something similar for my next tank; to combine my black mollies with my sunset platies.
The black mollies look like shadows!! 😎
Awesome aquascape and fish choice!!
Rotala Macrandra can make a right mess, looks great though :)
Your point about getting CO2 tanks, you will eventually! DIY is ok to start with but soon gets annoying to refill. Going to pick up a new tank once or twice a year is much more convenient!
I love a bit of molly!
