By keeping an open mind and exploring these teachings, you may find that they resonate with you in a meaningful way.

15 Astonishing facts About Islam That you Really don't know !
      1) “Islam” means “surrender” or “submission” . “Salam” (which means “peace”) is the root word of “Islam”. In a religious context the word “Islam” means “the surrendering of one’s will (without compulsion) to the true will of God in an effort to achieve peace”.
      2) “Muslim” means “anyone or anything that surrenders itself to the true will of God”. By this definition, everything in nature (trees, animals, planets, etc.) are “muslims” because they are in a state of surrender to God’s will. In other words, they are fulfilling the purpose for which God created them.
      3) Islam is not a new religion or cult. It is a universal way of life and civilization. Again, Islam is not a new religion, rather it is the same message preached by all earlier prophets such as Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus (peace be upon them all). But God’s final message to mankind was revealed to the last prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him), as a revival of lost teachings of previous prophets and as a reconfirmation of the eternal message. Studies show that between 1.5 and 1.8 billion people in the world identify their religion as Islam. Along with Judaism and Christianity it traces its roots through Prophet Abraham and back to the first humans Adam and Eve.
      4) There are five pillars of practice in Islam. These practices must be undertaken with the best of effort in order to be considered a true Muslim: A) Declaration of faith: A statement proclaiming the belief in One God and that Muhammad is a prophet of God. To become Muslim a person simply recites this statement publicly, and in Arabic. B) Formal prayer five times a day. C) Poor-due tax: 2.5% of one’s excess wealth given to the needy once a year. D) Fasting during the daylight hours in the month of Ramadan. E) Pilgrimage to Mecca at least once, if physically and financially able.
      5) There are six articles of faith in Islam. These are the basic beliefs that one must have in order to be considered a true Muslim. They are belief in: A) the One God. B) all of the true prophets of God. C) the original scriptures revealed to Moses, David, Jesus and Muhammad. D) the angels. E) the Day of Judgment and the Hereafter. F) destiny.
      6) Muslims believe in the one Creator of the Universe, referring to Him as “Allah” which is the Arabic word for “God”. Muslims worldwide, even English-speaking Muslims, frequently use the Arabic word “Allah” because Arabic is the language of the Qur’an. But Allah is no different than the God of Abraham, Moses and Jesus. The Creator is the Creator regardless of what people call Him. In the English language He is most commonly referred to as “God”. Yet Jesus spoke a different language, referring to God as “Eloi” in Mark 15:34 of the New Testament. Are “God” and “Eloi” different gods? Many Hispanics call God “Dios” and many French say “Dieu”. It would logically follow then that people who refer to God as “Allah” in the Arabic language are referring to the very same God. In fact, many Arab Jews and Arab Christians call God “Allah”. And the word “Allah” is written in Arabic script on the walls of many Arab churches and on the pages of Arabic Bibles. So while the understanding of God may differ between faith groups, the various names used to describe Him does not change the fact that the one Creator of the Universe is the God of all people.
This is Allah Almighty, The Creator, the one and only true God. He is my God, our God:
"Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi (Throne) extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great."
      (Quran 2:255)
      {Say, “He is Allah, the One. Allah, to Whom the creatures turn for their needs. He begets not, nor was He begotten, and there is none like Him.” }
      (Quran, 112:1-4)
Allah Almighty says in the Quran:
"Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah . Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
      [Quran 39:53]
      7) The Islamic concept of God is that He is loving, merciful and compassionate. Islam also teaches that He is all-knowing and the perfect judge of affairs, and will punish (or forgive) accordingly. However, Allah once said to Muhammad, “My mercy prevails over my wrath”. So Islam teaches a balance between fear and hope, protecting one from both complacency and despair.
      8) Muslims believe that God has revealed 99 of His names, or attributes, in the Qur’an. It is through these names that one can come to know

Aw, sis. You’re definitely on a journey that I can relate to but I think the idea of balancing this dunnyah and the hereafter relates to the idea of an “hour” for everything: an hour for acts of worship that we all consider (prayer, reading the Quran, charity, …), an hour for work and making an honest income, an hour for taking care of your family and friends and people who have a right over you, an hour of leisure and fulfilling that right over yourself. Everything we do is an act of worship but we shouldn’t indulge in one and neglect the other. I guess just being alive is a practice of not being one dimensional in thinking and, like you said, not just following our whims and desires.

Let’s be honest, many of us use time to idle these days, so it’s true we need to be more conscious about it.

learning from this episode: there is not supposed to be a perfect balance between the dunya and the aakhirah. there has to be a heavier leaning of our efforts to secure our place in Jannah because that is our real destination, this life is merely a rest stop in that journey. I used to disagree with this take before until now and i think this humor-infused, easygoing manner of giving naseeha and dawah is working so well for me. So thank you so much Farah, ily!

I do agree that somethings can be a distraction even making cute coffee dates, however sometimes it's also a mechanism to cope with the sadness of what this world brings. I don't think there's anything wrong with finding things you enjoy to do in this world while we are here, this is also a place where we were put to live.. not our internal homes but these small things also help us discover who we are and what we enjoy as people. I think when I had high functioning depression, I found it hard to go back to do things I once enjoyed but with time it got better. If I didn't have those small enjoyments, idk how I would cope with the heaviness I felt in my chest, accepting and understanding that these moments were meant to happen puts me more at peace to enjoy small moments in life, so I am grateful that Allah gave me those small doses of enjoyment's in this life.

I’m going through a rough patch in my life. After just finishing high school and planning to enter university , I’m struck with applying for scholarships and choosing a university that fits me. It’s been awhile since I contemplated on giving up drawing, I kid you not it’s been so so confusing and heartbreaking for me bc there are some different perspectives from some scholars based on the Hadith that stated, that among the people of hellfire are those who draw, something like that. I’ve been feeling like I’ve been punched in the face bc I can’t continue my passion and love for drawing (I use to draw cartoons and beings) and I know it’s not wrong to draw sceneries and other lifeless things (but it’s quite hard to get back to drawing rn) I’ve been rejected by a scholarship programme on a animation course and it really bummed me out. Nevertheless, I’ve secured a place in an Islamic university in my country. I think, it’s a way Allah SWT telling me to be close to him. I can’t lie that I’m not hurt, but this episode helped me realise that my desires are not to be exaggerated. Indeed Allah is with the broken hearted, please make dua’ for me.

    As salam aleykoum,
Farah I discovered your UA-cam channel recently. Well I don't have a perfect level of English but thanks to your videos I can improve. Above all I am nourished enormously by what you share. In addition to being a funny and touching person, your content resonates with me. I'm going through difficulties in my life (like everyone, in fact) but let's just say that this period of my life is more difficult. I keep reminding myself that this life is nothing compared to the hereafter. I also think that the number 1 poison is comparison with others. I personally try to detach myself as much as possible, even if I have relapses. Social networks are certainly the main cause, even though they expose falsehoods.
Dear Farah, I hope to meet you in the hereafter. May Allah help us and grant us all a happy ending in this life and in the hereafter.

You know, I wholeheartedly agree with everything you said. The only thing I do want to point out though, is Surah Al-Qasas, Ayah 77, it's okay to have fun. It's okay to indulge in halal, fun things every once in a while because in the end, yes this life is a test but we are also expected to enjoy it, too. It won't be easy! But we still have to remember to visit our families and meet up in a restaurant, go out for a walk int he park, read a nice novel.

when you said that at 11:09 a hadees came to kind and i just wanted to leave it here. Al-Mustawrid ibn Shaddād (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This world in comparison with the Hereafter is like the amount of water one of you gets when he dips his finger in the sea. Let him see what his finger returns with." It just hits different when you are actually in the presence of a sea like....

what makes you think most people in this moment have a good time anyway. You can only get ahead of the curve that this current life expects by working extremely hard at it. There is something noble about doing this as well because you are respecting your position and potential. Some people take their life very seriously this way because they are thankful what they have and show it by respecting their potential

This made me imagine myself in the future of the afterlife looking back to life, actions, and experiences. Like why should i even care so much about fulfilling myself and following my desires, when i can fight them. In the end pain that results good deeds becomes pleasure and pleasure that would result sins would become pain. 😬

I'm not Muslim, but I totally agree. In Catholic faith we are taught - a time and season - ashes to ashes and dust to dust. You really can't take anything with you. The most precious things we have are our loved ones and time.

great video, i get the point you are trying to make but to sme extent i think we should not be very close to deen but with a limit, because even the prophet told us not to be overdoing deen, like wht sme people are doing which will be a disadvantage on the long run, so to be more clear i think on your daily basis select specific times for memorizing quran, reciting athkar, praying nawafil if u want to, but also you do sme other things such as, talking to friends, playing sport, learning, etc. because during your day entertainment is important for your sanity that is why we were told do everything with a limit don't overdo anything even the good things

    Hello Farah.
I am Italian, no Muslim, but I find your words really really inspiring.
The only question is: so everything we do is just reduced to try to save our souls? We don't give money on charity because we feel sorry for a person that is living in the street for example but only because we want to go to Haven and above all we dont want to be damned (who wants to suffer for the eternity? Nobody)?
So on the Justice Day the only things who will matter is that we have been "good boys" just because of FEAR, not because we really embraced those ideals and lifestyle. If believers - all of a sudden and iphotetically - would have the CERTAINTY that they got wrong, that there is not a God or a after life... Would they go on avoiding a nice cafe, for instance?
I dont want to reduce everything to this, but where is the REAL importance of what we do if we do it just in an "opportunistic" way ... Otherwise we wouldnt do it?

Im thinking this too… i feel like this video takes away from the purpose of why Islam was revealed… not just to send ppl to Jannah but to help ppl in this dunya live their best lives. The function of Islam in society in helping each other and doing good by each other and preventing evil… not just sitting at home reading Quran and dhikr and praying while those things are good it’s meant to ground you in the fact that you are only a human who is not expected to be in control of everything. The feeling from this video felt similar to how philosophers would debate abt life without mentioning how to practically go about. It’s just not reality and to say that we do good only out of fear and wanting to get into heaven takes away the purpose of Islam in society which is help ALL OF COLLECTIVELY do good and minimize evil.

Honestly lovinggggg all these videos - so refreshing and nice to listen to something with the facts of our existence with the veil lifted from our eyes. But just one thing to say - balance can be possible to a certain extent. For example, I have actually discovered coffee shops near me (even though I live in London) that play vocals only Islamic nasheeds. Or I also know many places that don’t play anything at all - and the conversation in said coffee shops can be not only lightly meaningful, but conversations that can inspire and encourage love of Allah - it’s all about who you choose to surround yourself with 💗 just a little reflection I wanted to share!! God sees our intentions and will bring us solutions to get involved in ‘dunya’ enjoyment whilst staying on the path

I loved this episode a lot (as I do with every other episode lol)! Whenever I think about how I’m not going to be able to live my ideal life, doing the things I want to be doing and being happy, I always remind myself that this isn’t my only shot at happiness. In fact, true happiness is probably not even possible in this world because otherwise what would the point of Jannah be? When you don’t believe in an akhirah, of course you’re going to be chasing and chasing after things, and you might get some of those things, but other times you’ll be disappointed. And it’s just a waste of time. I’ll struggle and sacrifice now, and then be truly happy in my next life, In’Sha’Allah.
