Finding found Master Miller has been dead all along and you’ve been talking to Liquid, was one of the most mind blowing experiences I ever had as a kid playing video games.
Liquid sure did his homework. He knew how Miller would talk to Snake to the details, since the only time we know Miller's interactions is in MG2, Miller basically constantly says the same things in both games.
My opinion is that Liquid actually cares about Solid in a fucked up way, he wanted Solid on his side but knew that he was being used as a pawn to kill him. He only attempts to kill Solid in the end because he realizes he can't convince him to join his side.
nah, it's just a wrong opinion, the whole point of MGS1 was "overcoming your genetic fate" Which Solid and Liquid were cloned from Big Boss, the greatest soldier of the 20th century, Both Liquid and Solid were insanely good at warfare and infiltration, just like Big Boss was, if not better. but because Liquid believes that he had the "recessive" genes, he felt like he needed to kill Big Boss to prove his worth, that he isn't the inferior clone, obviously Solid having done this, not once but twice pissed Liquid off to no end, so his only way to prove this was to kill Solid Snake. (no, MGS5's "twist" if you can call it that, that MG1's big boss is Venom is not relevant, in every MG and MGS before 5 it was the real Big Boss, MGS5 didn't exist yet for a long shot, so Snake got rid of Big Boss twice, not venom and big boss) But as Ocelot reveals later, Liquid was the superior clone and Solid was the inferior, but it was because Solid overcame his genetic fate, he was better than Liquid, Liquid embraced his Genetic fate, Solid didn't, this is also why he specifically dies to FOXDIE and Solid doesn't, because Liquid embraced his genetic fate.
the bomb never gets planted if you don't submit to the torture, the game punishes you quite harshly for submitting. obviously Meryl dies by Ocelot (among apparent grape, since Ocelot says "i'll have my fun with her, before i'll kill her) only if you submit and you grab Johnny, Snake gets a cold. and Ocelot plants a bomb in your inventory, granted the cold isn't that big of a thing and the bomb is very easy to get rid off, but all of these are purely tied to submitting.
@@DarkDyllon maybe you have that reversed? I can confirm 100% that it DOES get planted if you RESIST the torture. I JUST replayed MGS (greatest hits label) on my PS1 during my recent nostalgia trip immediately prior to seeing this short (like nearly same day), which is what prompted my reply. I resisted the torture (never submitted; side note, nor let health to get to even half) to get the bandana after finishing the game. So maybe you meant that: The bomb doesn’t get planted IF you submit. Or put another way, it’s ONLY planted if you submit. I cannot confirm what happens if you submit, as i have not experienced that side since childhood.
Interesting! I finished the game mgs1 back in the 90s and again in 2007 im the biggest mgs fan in kuwait 🇰🇼 and this hidden secret is new to me i just know about this hidden bomb Mind blowing 😅
LOL. That call with "Miller" is priceless as if you somehow bother to do that call in your 1st run, you could attempt to get the bits of who "Miller" is in reality.
The first time I played the game it went off and I survived it barely. I was treading through water looking for supplies and I thought I stepped onto a mine. The second time I figured it out and I again was impressed by Kojima's game design, level of depth, cunning, originality, and cool points.
another neat thing is that when you survive the torture and escape, you can exit the torture room, but the elevator will be disabled. another neat thing is that MGS1 (and 2 as well) have a sort of camo index system already. in MGS1 when you exit the torture room without your items, the gun camera's see you from further away. when you pick up your items and leave, the same gun camera can't even see you in front of the elevator control panel. in MGS2 the BDU (without the balaclava) makes you harder to get spotted as well, after the Harrier fight and you get the 2 Gurluguvich guards saying "this is not a pretty sight!" if you got the BDU equiped, they can't see you at that range, meanwhile without the BDU they'll instantly spot you. (and no, it's not because of the "well, they might mistake you as 1 of their own" even the Presidential guards have this quirk, also that a blond guy running in russian clothing would very easily be spotted)
Well, not really. Because he didn't actually stop him when he could have. So I think it is a test for snake. Can he get through the entire obstacle course and then in the fight with metal gear, not sure if he was expected to win that too without grey fox's help and if that was planned too or not. But I think letting liquid and snake fight with metal gear was also a way to get test data on metal gear itself and on the twin snakes. I think that if Naomy didn't change foxdie then Snake would die at the same time as liquid but they can still use the data that is gathered to make new super soldiers in the future.
@@lightlayagajoie5739ocelot takes all the data on Rex from the MO disk he takes from snake. But otacon said that all of the VR training data was done before it was reconfigured to launch Armstech's invisible nuke via the rail gun. So it'd make sense to allow snake to activate Rex, so he would have the complete data and just allow foxdie to finish everyone else off. He also needed sniper wolf to be taken care of because she wasn't effected by foxdie.
@@lightlayagajoie5739 I like the idea that not everything was a plan by Ocelot and in fact some changes had to be made on the fly (for instance, he never expected to fall for Big Boss, the slicing off of his hand was 100 percent not a planned thing, etc)
@@boxtank5288 Ocelot seems to be the biggest double agent because he doesn't really help liquid as much as he could but doesn't stop him either. And because at the end he works for Snakes's boss (the president, solidus). He seems part of the agenda that wants everything to go as it did (for the most part). It seems clear that ocelot did not want to get attacked by grey fox. So it appears that grey fox may not be part of the plan but acting independently. It's interesting to note the greyfox does not do anything to prevent the plan of snake activating metal gear either. he hurts ocelot but doesnt kill him. he only interferes with metal gear halfway. It actually isn't 100% clear that grey fox isn't also part of the simulation. after all in mgs2 olga also seems to be working for the patriots. so even in mgs1 grey fox could be a pawn in one way or another (despite his assertion to the contrary). but it also looks like it might be an act of defiance against the patriots. the minister of defense also mentions that he didnt entent the darpha chief to die, so ocelot and him seem to be in competition and not everything goes according to one plan although the whole series of events seem relatively heavily scripted. perhaps it is like a game of chess where pawns are played out against each other with people thinking steps ahead but none the less its a game that is not entirely decided from the beginning.
Playing for the first time recently I saw it in my inventory and just assumed it was something I could use against the enemy until I got the codec call about it xD
That laugh might be because Ocelot forgot he put it there, and suddendly remembered where it was when it blew off. Like, he didn't did it on pourpuse, he just forgot it somewhere, and realised he might have made a silly mistake.
Got the laugh game over. too busy chasing rats on the sewer near Metal Gear to pay attention to codec calls. I didnt know Meryl survived until years later
I didn’t even notice until I got called me saying I had a bomb on me. I guess I was just happy to make it out of Ocelot’s torture after tricking the guard by hiding under the bed.
I remember watching mgs1 trailer on ps1 in Hong Kong electronic shop in 1997. It looked amazing. My parents didn’t have the money to afford ps1 back then so I had a game boy instead.
I hope in a remake or LA movie, SS would be fighting Vulcan Raven with VR piloting a prototype bipedal tank mech, and Vulcan would later use its heavy gatling gun.

@@TaccoToast I dunno. You can say that about any codec call in the game, but not everyone stops every 3 minutes to call every single character several times to hear every new line of dialog. Holy shit i just realised. Ocelots are faster than Snakes. Cobras to be precise. An ocelot always beats a snake in speed. Ocelot was the leader of Cobra, but secretly against them. Ocelot was a friend to Big Boss, but perhaps like a Scorpion on a Turtles back... idk lol
little fan theory. I think that in MGS1 there is already something like the s3 plan going on like in mgs2. Placing the bomb in snakes items just to test if he would find it in time even though it risks the plan of snake activating metal gear. But it is because this shadow moses incident is all staged and it is to test snake as an ultimate soldier just like raiden in mgs2 and also if they can control him. Like what?
God, I would love to experience this game for the first time again
My opinion is that Liquid actually cares about Solid in a fucked up way, he wanted Solid on his side but knew that he was being used as a pawn to kill him. He only attempts to kill Solid in the end because he realizes he can't convince him to join his side.
nah, it's just a wrong opinion, the whole point of MGS1 was "overcoming your genetic fate"
Which Solid and Liquid were cloned from Big Boss, the greatest soldier of the 20th century, Both Liquid and Solid were insanely good at warfare and infiltration, just like Big Boss was, if not better.
but because Liquid believes that he had the "recessive" genes, he felt like he needed to kill Big Boss to prove his worth, that he isn't the inferior clone, obviously Solid having done this, not once but twice pissed Liquid off to no end, so his only way to prove this was to kill Solid Snake. (no, MGS5's "twist" if you can call it that, that MG1's big boss is Venom is not relevant, in every MG and MGS before 5 it was the real Big Boss, MGS5 didn't exist yet for a long shot, so Snake got rid of Big Boss twice, not venom and big boss)
But as Ocelot reveals later, Liquid was the superior clone and Solid was the inferior, but it was because Solid overcame his genetic fate, he was better than Liquid, Liquid embraced his Genetic fate, Solid didn't, this is also why he specifically dies to FOXDIE and Solid doesn't, because Liquid embraced his genetic fate.
Ocelot is a man who knows who the main character is.
Even after MGSV setting he still played us like a damn fiddle
Did you know…. It’s literally part of the plot and EVERYONE that played through, knows about it, IT IS NOT a SECRET!
the bomb never gets planted if you don't submit to the torture, the game punishes you quite harshly for submitting.
obviously Meryl dies by Ocelot (among apparent grape, since Ocelot says "i'll have my fun with her, before i'll kill her)
only if you submit and you grab Johnny, Snake gets a cold.
and Ocelot plants a bomb in your inventory, granted the cold isn't that big of a thing and the bomb is very easy to get rid off, but all of these are purely tied to submitting.
It's hard to hate Ocelot when he laughs like that😅 Our man just wanted to pull a "funny prank"
"Just a prank bro"
His laugh still makes me happy😊
I was in a vent when the timer reached zero
Interesting!
I finished the game mgs1 back in the 90s
and again in 2007 im the biggest mgs fan in kuwait 🇰🇼 and this hidden secret is new to me i just know about this hidden bomb
Mind blowing 😅
Bombs blow more than your mind. 😂
Kojimbo in 1987: This is some good weed.
OG MGS is in my top 3 games of all time. The music, the graphics, the STORY, the late game codec convos... TRULY ahead of its time.
What are your other two?
LOL. That call with "Miller" is priceless as if you somehow bother to do that call in your 1st run, you could attempt to get the bits of who "Miller" is in reality.
He’s laughing because he was surprised Snake was stupid enough to not realize he needed to do something.
Ocelot really did just pull the most troll ass laugh possible.
Liquid: Ocelot! You did it again!
Ocelot: Sorry, boss...
The more and more I see of this game, the more I remember
Kojima really was ahead in the game industry
I've beaten this game quite a few times, I don't know how I missed this one
Yeah idk me too. Ive beat this game like 3 or 4 times this does not ring any bit of a bell.
@@arguy3297 You probably didn't make it through the torture sequence.
@AdoreYouInAshXI I did just haven't played since PS1
The first time I played the game it went off and I survived it barely. I was treading through water looking for supplies and I thought I stepped onto a mine. The second time I figured it out and I again was impressed by Kojima's game design, level of depth, cunning, originality, and cool points.
Years later and this game still has a few surprises
All I can think of is Leonardo from 80's TMNT. Idk if same guy but sounds like him
Yep Cam Clarke... Just like how Raph is voiced by Yakko from Animaniacs
He's Fire Emblem guy too, Corrin from Fire Emblem Fates.
@@raveast Funny how Cam went from one teenage ninja to someone with a potential ninja for a party member.
These are the details that make these games ❤
That bg intro music lives in my head rent free
Liquid is mad cause he needs Snake alive for his plan to work
another neat thing is that when you survive the torture and escape, you can exit the torture room, but the elevator will be disabled.
another neat thing is that MGS1 (and 2 as well) have a sort of camo index system already.
in MGS1 when you exit the torture room without your items, the gun camera's see you from further away.
when you pick up your items and leave, the same gun camera can't even see you in front of the elevator control panel.
in MGS2 the BDU (without the balaclava) makes you harder to get spotted as well, after the Harrier fight and you get the 2 Gurluguvich guards saying "this is not a pretty sight!" if you got the BDU equiped, they can't see you at that range, meanwhile without the BDU they'll instantly spot you. (and no, it's not because of the "well, they might mistake you as 1 of their own" even the Presidential guards have this quirk, also that a blond guy running in russian clothing would very easily be spotted)
Since Ocelot is a double, triple, whatever agent, can we consider the torture and bomb are a way from Ocelot to sabotage Liquid plan?
Well, not really. Because he didn't actually stop him when he could have. So I think it is a test for snake. Can he get through the entire obstacle course and then in the fight with metal gear, not sure if he was expected to win that too without grey fox's help and if that was planned too or not. But I think letting liquid and snake fight with metal gear was also a way to get test data on metal gear itself and on the twin snakes. I think that if Naomy didn't change foxdie then Snake would die at the same time as liquid but they can still use the data that is gathered to make new super soldiers in the future.
@@lightlayagajoie5739 true, I was not thinking about the data, good point.
I never realised Liquid didn’t know about the bomb and is actually mad about it, almost giving away his disguise.
Liquid: Ocelot, tf man?!
Ocelot, laughing: Y’all father would’ve never…
Playing for the first time recently I saw it in my inventory and just assumed it was something I could use against the enemy until I got the codec call about it xD
I remember playing this game for years before I even learned that it was possible to endure the torture scene.
One if the best franchises of all time
That laugh might be because Ocelot forgot he put it there, and suddendly remembered where it was when it blew off.
Like, he didn't did it on pourpuse, he just forgot it somewhere, and realised he might have made a silly mistake.
Damn Ocelot!
Trying to kill my brother again!
Got the laugh game over. too busy chasing rats on the sewer near Metal Gear to pay attention to codec calls. I didnt know Meryl survived until years later
I cant wait for the remake..... this game was too good!!!
No, of course I never knew about this item and have completed the game with the bomb still being in my inventory. 🤣🤣🤣
man, this blew my mind when I first played it as a kid, that you could get hidden dialogue
Guys I think Ocelot planted the bomb in Snake’s items
MGS games are the most intricately designed games I think of all time. Only ones that come close are GTA games, but that’s more “attention to environment & mechanics detail” than “attention to storyline and scenarios”
Ocelot: “We do a lil’ trolling…”
Metal gear solid one is still such a good game.
Kojima is a ghost 👻. And he will surprise you everytime
Using the camera. Never find all the ghosts.😅
How can a PS1 Game be that Good?
Because there were talented people that made it back in the day.
I know right 😮
There are a lot of great ps1 games
Because there have always been good games past and present.
The sentence you're actually looking for is "how can a PS1 game have this much detail?"
Forever love with this game.
I always thaught the bomb appeared in your inventory when Deepthroat calls.
I played the game recently went outside the first room shuffled my items looking for something else and saw the bomb, my immediate thought KOJIMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, I became very paranoid after the whole psychic bs
There’s always something new I didn’t know about mgs.
If you didn't know this, then you didnt play mgs. And don't know a lot! 😂
MGS is just pure gold😎🍻
These young bucks just now finding this out? The lot of us have known for 26 years. I played back in 19998 when it first came out.
Did you know? Fun fact: if you press A in Super Mario Bros., Mario will do a jump!
This is not a "Did you know?", this is a "This is in the game, and you will see it no matter how you play it"
No, the Miller codec is optional. Also the mashing minigame is quite demanding on most difficulties so plenty of players would give up
@@velvetbutterfly Still, this is a basic part of the game, not a "super secret easter egg" or whatever.
@@TaccoToast I dunno. You can say that about any codec call in the game, but not everyone stops every 3 minutes to call every single character several times to hear every new line of dialog.
Especially after an intense scene like the torture and bomb.
Who deals with that and thinks "man, that was a lot, I wanna listen to 20 minutes of talking"
9/10 players are thinking "damn, I'm gonna go kick Liquid's ass for what he put me through" and just continue the main story.
They did the same in death stranding but not really subtly.
Love that Ocelot laugh.
Liquid was thinking "killstealer"
Quite possibly the most brilliant game ever made
And did you know if you kill a guard with it you can hear snake and ocelot laugh about it together
I did die from the bomb on my last play though but didn’t realize that was otecon laughing..
Yeah i remember picking that bomb up & wondering what the ticking was all about. Until my Codex went off, pretty much impossible to miss that bomb
The plot twist of this game was mind blowing for 9 year old me.
The fact none of it is real still blows my mind to this day
damn, wesker was pranking people by hiding bombs in their gear back then?
But liquid doesnt know this so he upset ocelot risks ruining the plan and he doesnt know it is all a setup (like he wil die of foxdie) alternatively he knows its a trap and goes into it anyway. Well let me know if someone agrees, lol.
Wait mgs1 was staged like mgs2?
@@teddybeargamezOrchestrated by Liquids master plan
@@markTK901 oh ok
@@markTK901 I think you mean Ocelot
@lightlayagajoie5739 Well yes your right there coaxing Liquid into starting a revolt
this game is a masterpiece
I found the bomb the hard way myself. Got all the way to Rex's hanger with it, then it went off in my inventory. XD
I remember this too in the game!
"Did you know this basic fact that occurs everytime you choose 1 of 2 story paths"
I genuinely didn't know that the bomb in the inventory was a thing. I don't remember ever getting rid of a bomb.
Everybody knew this when you skipped the codec calls and blew the hell up
