According to the commentator, Parker Bohn, in rebuttal to the theory that left handed bowlers have an advantage over the right handers, he said: well, what about the left-handers that finish low down in the standings, no one says anything about that? Duke replied: he's got a point. No he doesn't have a point. Left handers have an advantage because they have the side of the lane, oiling factor aside, that offers a truer roll in because the boards aren't as well-used and worn by open, and league bowlers. It is like a target shooter saying hitting a target over 300 yards in a calms day isn't any different than on a very windy days. The lane is the medium to the pins as is the air is the medium to the target. Bohn's reply is that typical uneducated red herring that changes the subject of the issue from the lane offering an advantage to lefties to well look at joe blow, he's a leftie and never makes the cut. The fact that leftie Joe Blow doesn't make the cut is an issue for discussion in itself separate from the issue under discussion. I make this comment for the sake of your average right handed bowler who beats up on himself because he makes better shots than the leftie but doesn't get rewarded as much as the lefties. Look at all notable lefties: Earl Anthony, Mike Aulby, and Parker Bohn among many where lefties are a small minority in bowling versus the righties.
i see your point, but the amount of legendary right handers is far above the legendary lefties. obviously that could be because right handers are more common, but the luxuries of being a left hander aren't always good. having less traffic on the left hand side could be a detriment to the left hander, as traffic can help soften up a really tough pattern. look at the u.s. open for example, almost every year a right hander will win. the pattern is just too tough for lefties to break down by themselves. as well as this, most telecasts are dominated by right handed bowlers. this telecast is one of the few where it is all left handers. some patterns are just better for the lefties, but typically it is not the case.
@@NKMusic Earl Anthony, I think mention in one telecast that lefties don't have to belly the shot like righties do to keep from crossing over. If you watch Anthony, Bohn, Aulby, Petraglia, Patrick Allen, and Steve Cook, they all vary in speed and rev rate but they all have a similar line to the pocket. Along the gutter before the ball breaks 10-20 feet before the head pin. You hardly see them having trouble with the ball return getting in the way like with Robert Smith. This is because the lane heads are so dented, burnt, and warped on the right-side and unlike the smooth left side. The righty ball thus reads early and hooks early. Mika Kovinemi lofts the ball, as does Robert Smith, to avoid all the wear on the right-side heads and mid-lane boards.
@@cyworld2707 i understand that, but even so the greatest bowler of all time is either pete weber, walter ray, belmo, or maybe duke. all are right handed bowlers. if the left handers truly had an advantage over the right handers then they would hold the all time title record or the all time major record. i think only certain oil patterns favor lefties, but most oil patterns are more favorable to righties or equal.
@@NKMusic My point is not to let your "success" in bowling, or any other endeavor, that showers you with monetary reward and titles deceive you into thinking you are what they say you are. Many good bowlers, both pro and amateurs, haven't had the titles like Norm Duke or Parker Bohn. But they are great and even greater than those two. Dom Barrett, Francois Lavorie to name two. Their smooth consistent style is a work of art. Bob Learn Jr., leftie John Gant and Robert Smith with their natural high rev rate and power. Then you have Parker Bohn, Earl Anthony, and Mike Aulby with their just above mediocre shots who persevere on a clean, left hand surface and get the one or two lucky strikes and breaks that squeaks them by. There is right hander Norm Duke, Ernie Schlegel with the right hand mediocre style of "right down the middle" high percentage shots and the breaks that follow that puts them ahead enough to win. So I look at Parker Bohn and Norm Duke with their boring unimpressive game and see them relish all the talk about the games they've won and how that is proof of their greatness to the point where those two start to believe this deception and swagger about. Such fools and self-deceiving morons.
@@cyworld2707 i wouldn't put francois or dom in the same sentence as norm or parker. even though those two have tons of power, a more athletic form, and more revs, they are not nearly as skilled as norm or parker. i'm not seeing your point either, norm duke's "boring unimpressive" game denounces all of the achievements he's won? the whole point of the game is to knock the pins down, to make tv shows you have to likely average 230+. averaging 220-230 on the toughest of conditions IS greatness, and francois/dom have not achieved nearly as much as norm, parker, earl anthony, aulby, or anybody else that you think is "lucky" or "boring". all of the games that norm and parker have won is proof of their greatness. you can't really compare a 40 time champion norm duke to a 4 time champion lavoie. if lavoie was greater than norm or parker, he would have wayyyy more titles than he does now. he is a spectacular bowler, but only 4 titles in his career so far--a bit of a stretch to compare him with the greats. to say that AMATEURS are greater than norm duke and parker bohn is ridiculous. amateurs would get eaten up on the pba tour. to add on, what should count as "success" in bowling? not winning titles is considered success to you? if you have 40+ titles, i would argue that you have the right to think you are one of the greats. if you think having more revs or a more impressive form = greater bowler, then fine. but to most everybody else, the more titles you have the greater at the sport you were.
Couldn’t disagree more. I’ve met Parker in person and he’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever me. Invited me to his facility in central Jersey and he’s a really cool guy.

Patrick Allen was in command to win the Go RVing Classic
As always, you’re in command to be a dick.
The 2 most annoying bowlers ever in the final. LOL.
