You never see a protagonist for Mean Bean Machine, so it might as well be Arle tbh (Tho I guess some of the bots imply you're playing as a boy). I dunno, I find it kinda hard to imagine Sonic mean beaning all over those guys. EDIT: okay apparently the orange star guy is the protag? I always thought he was the referee.
Ah I love these Puyo Puyo games. It all started with this one for me growing up. I can consistently make chains above 10 it's MEGA fun. Love this game. ❤
It requires a lot of patience (and as you said yourself in the description, luck) but it is possible too get a combo big enough that you fill the opponents bar with just red faces. I've only done it maybe 3 times in my life? But it was hands down one of the most enjoyable moments of my gaming life so far, what made it better was one time was against a robot that previously gave me a lot s***. Also tops to you for putting in some of your failures in there, it's nice too see someone who isn't afraid too show that 😁
Yeah those massive combos are SUPER satisfying. I know how to set them up but it's mostly that I don't get very lucky and I don't get the colors I need or the AI gets something off on me before I can get it going lol "Also tops to you for putting in some of your failures in there, it's nice too see someone who isn't afraid too show that" Responding to this, yeah lol I find it kinda funny when I review the footage and I just see the ai just get a random combo and killing me instantly so I usually leave those in (plus they're highlight worthy and I like seeing how they got the combo off)
@@HydraFlare778 I can set up maybe a 3-4 somewhat competently but then I just confuse myself with all the colours xD kudos to you for being able to set up even larger ones! It's gut punching when the AI does that just as you are on the brink of victory though! Or you almost have the combo set too go and the one, just one garbage/grey bean plonks itself in the EXACT spot you don't want it 😑🤣
@@HydraFlare778 thing is, when it happens once you think "yeah ok, just sh**ty luck"...... but when that one grey bean lands in consecutively ij the spot that screws you over most you know, you just know that the game is purposely aiming that little b**tard! 🤣
This game never got released in Japan but I imported the Korean version of this game (Since Korean Mega Drives are NTSC-J) it will work in a Regular Japanese MegaDrive
Technically it did get a japan release first but it was originally a port of the arcade puyo puyo when the game was released in the us it became dr robotnik's mean bean machine using characters from the first episode of the adventures of sonic the hedgehog and use robotnik's design from that same show
I don't get why Grounder is level 10 while being an absolute airhead in the cartoons. I find Skweel and Sir Fuzzy-Logik to be the hardest. I have a personal hatred for Skweel.
Skweel is everyone's enemy it's so funny I love that stupid face Top 5 in hardest difficulty for me is probably sir fuzzy logik > spike > dragon breath > grounder > robotnik/skweel (exchangeable) It's kinda strange how they made grounder and scratch so high considering the cartoons yea but tbh its a goofy contrast I can get behind lol
@@HydraFlare778 I could never beat Coconuts until I was like 10. When I finally beat him (I mainly played the Game Gear version) I started getting into it. I now have the game on PS2, PS3, PS4 and GG but I lost the Game Gear. I frequently get 9+ combos and tend to go perfect until Skweel. I fucking hate him. He always blocks my combos right before I start them so I'll be there about to trigger a 5+ combo but the space where I start the combo would be blocked by a garbage bean and I'd have ¾ space just cluttered with beans. Two of my earliest memories with the game (first on GG and the second on PS2) were accidentally triggering a huge combo against Dr. Robotnik going from almost full screen to like ⅕ giving him 5 red beans above his side and triggering a huge combo on Spike when he was about to win just for him to die so fast it went from his laughing animation to his lost portrait. Fuzzy is a cunt, he's like Skweel but tends to block my combos as I'm about to start them not as often. Scratch is a pushover and I only lose to Robotnik when I put beans in the wrong place. I got the game on PS4 like a fortnight ago so I can start uploading. It has a rewind feature where if I do something wrong I can hold L2 and rewind, overpowered.
Omg yeah fuzzy's a menace. I have no clue why he was buffed so much in hardest because before switching to that difficulty I never really had any issues but he's just a constant unpredictable pain. I think he tends to go for overwhelming the opponent/messing up setups with sending over constant smaller combos (usually sometimes he doesn't idk 😶😶) which is annoying because my playstyle usually consists of fishing for larger combos I only really find him (and some other later game bosses) worse than skweel because of the scroll speed getting high to the point where it starts voiding inputs or is just not readable for me and then that's like half of the difficulty for robotnik it's not that bad though because he usually kills himself LOl but sometimes he doesn't idk When I was little I hated skweel a lot and never got past him because of how much of a step up he was lol Also really impressive stuff! I can't really get combos as high as 9 because I usually blunder my setups past 4 or I get distracted by having to deal with what the opponent is doing so I usually end up just going for 2s and 3s because I am very prone to being dumb I've been trying to go for some deathless runs and best I've got was 3 deaths total (2 on spike and 1 on dragon breath) but my runs usually end at skweel and grounder. They are quite the chokepoints
Once,I got red bean chains on Sir Fuzzy Logic & Scratch,(I lost to both once. Got them in rematch.) and back & forth with the Dr in stage 13. My board filled up before the next row defeated him. I got him back with 2 red bean combos back to back & filled his board up,knocking him out.
Everytime a black bean drops, if you listen very carefully, you can hear YO HO HO
I used to call them Yurgh hu hu beans
I hear more of a "du hu hu"
I always thought I could hear the words "Yoko" whenever they drop
I used to hear "I'm a jerk ball"
My auntie who died of cancer played this game so i came back and have tried several times to win this game because she always wanted me to
Have you beaten it yet? I bet your auntie would be very proud
5:42 - 6:04 that was a really satisfying comeback

She would destroy them no diff
