The Cord team has done a n incredible job, your research and details are awesome. According to Lepcha theory Siliguri word derived from the word "Sali Gahri" (Sali=arrows, Gahri= Fort, means Fort of Arrows). Lepchas were the son of soil from Chhumbi Valley to east part of Nepal.

I was born in Siliguri. A city with all the requisites of a Cosmopolitan. Most peaceful city far away from dirty and cheap politics of West Bengal.People of different ethnicity staying together for decades. Developed by the residents and neglected by the governments. Need proper and planned development .

According to Sailen Debnath, "Siliguri" means a stack of pebbles or stones. Until the 19th century this region was called as "Shilchaguri" when there was dense Dolka forest covering the region. Siliguri was a small agricultural village in the Kingdom of Sikkim. It was captured by the Kingdom of Nepal in 1788, after which Kirati and Nepali Lepchas came to settle in this region

Thanks to make a video about my birth city. Siliguri ❤ .
It used to be a deep forest. There are some forests left but its in destruction process due to new buildings . Siliguri needs a serious urban planning, waste management and sewage management system. Rivers in Siliguri now turns into drains. Govt can developed aims hospital, national level universities and schools here but ... Cpim and TMC both kept the north Bengal undeveloped. Siliguri could become a important beautiful connecting city. But 😢 . There is the need of security in Siliguri. Security especially from muslim Bangladeshis and from China.

Great effort👍I have a suggestion. You could add the 'partition' angle, that gave Siliguri a geographical advantage and it became a strategic point ~ the junction of North East India, Northern India and the rest of West Bengal.
If 'partition' were not there, it would not be the gateway of Nort East. I think the 'partition' had a major role in the development of Siliguri in post independence era.
By the way, I'm from Jalpaiguri. Jalpaiguri and Coochbehar have rich historical backgrounds too (I think you know). You can make videos on these two places.

Please check the crime rate of pune. Pune has poor public transport, so everyone needs to buy a bike or scooter. Roads are in pathetic condition. Frequent power cuts, my friend had a workshop in a place called pirangut, there was no power supply on Thursdays. Also many neighborhoods don't have proper water supply.
