If I may, I would like to suggest the next song by The Tubes. It is called "What Do You Want From Life", and has the infamous last line "or a baby's arm holding an apple." You have to hear the rest of it to appreciate it. The Tubes were very very different. Also, "She's A Beauty" and "Talk To Ya Later".
Right on! The Tubes are Northern California legends. In concert The Tubes lead singer Fee Waybill would take on different characters for different songs. For "White Punks on Dope" he played a drugged out British rock star named Quay Lewd (i.e. Quaalude), wearing two-foot tall platform shoes, a feather boa and a long blonde wig. That made Fee Waybill a shoe in to play one of The Three Most Important People in the World in the 1989 movie Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. "White Punks on Dope" got ample radio play on the more adventuresome FM rock stations back in the seventies and early eighties. It reminds me of learning how to skate board when I was ten or eleven. Heh. The Tubes dropped a top ten single in 1983, "She's a Beauty", that gave DJ's reason to introduce tunes from their back catalog into the programming. The glam aspects of the song complemented the hair metal that was the flavor of the hour back then. Mötley Crüe covers the song sometimes.
Wow, I am giving you a lot of likes tonight. The Tubes were insane live. A bit X-rated in the early days. When they did this song the singer Fee Waybill dressed up like a parody of a Kiss like rock star and was named Quay Lude. They were over the top.
You should see the live version. The Tubes were not a band to contemplate political correctness. They had a little Zappa in them, and perhaps a dash of Rocky Horror...but better!
One of the most entertaining live shows ever! I saw them at the height of their popularity...thanks thumbs up for the reaction...more please. #TubesRock
You should check their songs "Don't Touch Me There", "Slipped My Disco", "Don't Want To Wait Anymore", "Sushi Girl", "Talk To Ya Later" and "She's A Beauty"
A must listen "What do you want from live?" Live is preferred!!! It's an awesome song you will definitely love it!!!! The Tubes, "What do you want from live?" Live!!!!
Probably not the first one to point this out but there’s an amazing version in German by Nina Hagen ‘Tv glotzer’ opening track of the first Nina Hagen Band album
Growing up in San Francisco’s Sunset District in the late 70s, W.P.O.D. was common graffiti scrawled on walls and school desks, after this song came out.
Fantastic ! the Tubes were a blast. Their drummer Prairie Prince was a big drumming influence on me as a teenager. They were so much fun live and so silly on stage “Young & Rich”. - “ Pimp” -“Tubes World Tour”- “What do you want from Life” and of course “Don’t touch me There “. So good
I saw them in a dive bar in Berkeley before their first record came out. I was totally hooked. I saw them many times and they were never the same. Always great. At this dive bar, when they did this, Fee came out as Quay Lude. He was wearing plexiglass platform shoes filled with water and live goldfish. Just hysterical. Check out What Do You Want From Life? next. It's the funniest rock song I've ever heard.
They teamed up with Domenic Frontiere who wrote the theme for early 60s sci-fi/horror TV anthology'The Outer Limits', which I'd always loved since emigrating to Canada from England in 1964 - the show and the music - for several songs like those for 'Modern Problems', a 1981 screwball comedy starring SNL alumnus Chevy Chase. See 'Gonna Get It Next Time'. They also appeared on Canadian comedy classic SCTV, performing 'Sushi Girl'. Cheers, mate. 😂🤣 😊🤙🏼🎶❤️🍁❤️🦃
Listened to Fee talk about who gave him his name "fee" and how he got his name was a riot. Radio station, WRKR in Kalamazoo had Fee as a guest years ago. Said he got his name from a band mate because his band mate said he looked like the King of Fiji 😂 Same band mate lived in a part of a garage, walled off by blankets. 1 time his band mate said he was too wasted to make it to band practice. They practiced in the same garage 😂
Although they had a little exposure and moderate success, they mostly had songs that were not radio friendly. Look for them in the Olivia Newton John/Gene Kelly movie Xanadu. They were part of the best music in the movie.
and frontman Fee Waybill formed the band in SF in the 70's with Prairie Prince on drums (later play for Starship) great drummer.... Do "She's A Beauty" next please👍
Honestly, I never knew this original version, only heard the version by Nina Hagen, and never heard it in english. You might check that, but this was very cool, and it's the original.
The Tubes cover of The Rolling Stones early hit “Satisfaction” was intolerable. That said, it was like a train wreck nobody could look away from! Reluctantly but sincerely ‘liked’ this one. 🤣
Respect to the person who recommended this. You have some great subs in “the fam.” It’s been a while watching a reactioner coloring outside the lines. 👈 Nice one. 🤘
Yeah, everybody is on drugs. Never seen anything like it and I've seen a lot. There are also as many or more legal addicts as illegal addicts. Just sayin'. I had almost forgotten about The Tubes. What Do You Want From Life should be your next reaction from them
These guys were a phenom back in the day, great act, great songs, but they kind of ran into a dead end, couldn't get promoted, lacked the hits to keep them going, and eventually had to get day jobs. The worst. Todd Rundgren produced their last album, Love Bomb, one of my favorites. Sad they couldn't keep it going.
Something else you, my lunch? ONATOKE? One toke Brewer on sharply. They did it someone talk you might find. After a one talk that you're floating downtown
DUDE!!!!!!!!
FINALLY, SOMEBODY GETS IT!!!!!
YESSSSS

people question why i have a autographed picture of Randolph Mantooth hanging in my garage....
I can't believe you found these guys. They were wild. Super high energy show band.
The Tubes, best band ever. Still on tour to this day-
Right on! The Tubes are Northern California legends. In concert The Tubes lead singer Fee Waybill would take on different characters for different songs. She's a Beauty is from the Tubes???? I love that song! I should have known that, but I just knew the song.
She's a Beauty ,Talk to Ya Later,Mondo Bondage,Amnesia,Prime Time, and What do You Want From Life I'll stop there
Wow, I am giving you a lot of likes tonight. The Tubes were insane live. A bit X-rated in the early days. When they did this song the singer Fee Waybill dressed up like a parody of a Kiss like rock star and was named Quay Lude. They were over the top.
a bit x rated ? you should have seen the shows prior to the playboy layout....
"Don't Touch Me There" has got to be your next Tubes selection, Biz!
or TALK TO YOU LATER.
Anywhere but there
You should see the live version. The Tubes were not a band to contemplate political correctness. They had a little Zappa in them, and perhaps a dash of Rocky Horror...but better!
Wow I’ve been requesting this for years on these reaction videos! Thanks for the memories!
Prairie Prince, coolest Drummer.
One of my favorite shows. Incredible live act with stellar musicians.
Attack of the 50 Foot Woman, Sushi Girl, She's a Beauty.... Great live show
Blimey this brings back memories!
Hell of a satirical song, nice choice.
We finally get to the gifted madmen of music. Fee Waybill (singer) is such a character, and the musicianship is second to none.
Truer words were never spoken........Excellent!
Saw them in the 70s, one of the best concerts I've seen and I've seen many
Ha! I don't think I've ever seen anyone else react to The Tubes. They were wild. I think you'd enjoy their song What Do You Want From Life.
This song was the anthem for how we lived in the 70's. Good times....
The Tubes "She's a beauty“ 🔥🔥🔥
They had a big hit with one of their early songs called What do you Want From Life ?
Awesome tune🤘❤️ a babies arm holding an apple😮
The Tubes are GREAT
Next Tubes song should be What Do You Want From Life?
Gotta love the Tubes.
What Do You Want From Life - The Tubes were brilliant!
One of my favourite songs from my youth. Keep listening to The Tubes, there's lots of interesting stuff.
One of the best live shows I ever saw
Yup! Saw them as a double bill with Utopia. One of my favorite concerts ever.
LOVE this band! Definitely more please.
Late Tubes keyboardist Vince Welnick (1951-2006), was also the Grateful Dead's keyboardist from 1990-1995 after Brent Mydland died.
Love The Tubes. Remote Control is a desert island album.
"God bird change" Live from London 1977 Is a must hear! Absolutely Amazing....
Epic band. I used to see them all the time in my hometown in Sacramento in the early 70s.
The Tubes sure know how to fill an empty space. They were so much fun!
I had forgotten how much I liked this song. Great choice!
they have a song called Telecide that is remarkable !
One of the most entertaining live shows ever! I saw them at the height of their popularity...thanks thumbs up for the reaction...more please. #TubesRock
I saw them supporting Squeeze at the Hammersmith Odeon in 1979. This was the second best song on their set list. The best was "Don't touch me there".
Your content deeply resonates with viewers! - "Self-belief fuels the inner flame of greatness..."
You should check their songs "Don't Touch Me There", "Slipped My Disco", "Don't Want To Wait Anymore", "Sushi Girl", "Talk To Ya Later" and "She's A Beauty"
I saw them in SF many times! They were outrageous! A favorite! So glad you reacted to them. You can't describe them. You just watch! Kudos to you.
The first two Tubes records are absolutely incredible.
Deep Diving in the 70’s and early 80’s nice
Your Music Mirrors Your Mind

Band/Artist: The Tubes
Album: The Tubes
Welcome to my mind in the 80's!
you commented on this track like i did when i first heard it . very awesome . that was some :GOOD SHIT" !!!!!!!
Nina Hagen covers this song in German (TV-Glotzer) - you should definitely listen to it. You might not understand it, but the music is great.
This is amazing!💃🏻
Growing up in San Francisco’s Sunset District in the late 70s, W.P.O.D. was common graffiti scrawled on walls and school desks, after this song came out.

Same but in Toronto. My buddy and I were walking past and saw them through the front window - we couldn't believe it. What a great night.

One of those amazing band that have a serious group of fans. When you meet another one it's kinda special.
In the 1960s-70s it was "Firesign Theatre".
Listened to Fee talk about who gave him his name "fee" and how he got his name was a riot. Radio station, WRKR in Kalamazoo had Fee as a guest years ago.
Said he got his name from a band mate because his band mate said he looked like the King of Fiji 😂

Great album! Do it all!
There is a Tubes song called Boy Crazy on their first album that is ironic but also very sad. A great song.
Honestly, I never knew this original version, only heard the version by Nina Hagen, and never heard it in english. You might check that, but this was very cool, and it's the original.
The group was called axe axe

Oh God! I was totally hoping you'd do the live version that will blow your socks off
Man, now you have got to do “What Do You Want From Life?” Same album!
Saw the tubes in the 70's, small venue
The tubes are a great band very underrated. I’d say try talk to you later. I saw them at least 15 times over the last 30 years.
That was 🔥🔥 or dope 😂😂😂😂😂
Broadway Tune!
You have to do live!
"What Do You Want From Life", another good one, but different. A thinker.
70's local San Francisco band.
Let's ride out
Another new one to me. Another winner that makes me feel like a loser for missing it coming up.
It's OK dingleberry. Better late than never!
It takes a while to stop singing WHITE PUNKS ON DOPE in your head after hearing this song! 😑😐🤔😎😀😁😂😃😄😅
The Tubes cover of The Rolling Stones early hit “Satisfaction” was intolerable. That said, it was like a train wreck nobody could look away from!
Reluctantly but sincerely ‘liked’ this one. 🤣
I haven't heard this in over40 years. Awesomeness
😂😂😂 this is a first for me! Hahaha
I like your show. Your take on the drug scene was right on.
the white punks on dope were stalking the Tubes....hence the tubes wrote this song!
Punk Biz on Dope.
check out the vids from their shows. They are .... like 80 now .... pure bad ass
Respect to the person who recommended this. You have some great subs in “the fam.” It’s been a while watching a reactioner coloring outside the lines. 👈 Nice one. 🤘

MMAn you should've done the video!!!!
I have this on CD, strange band, funny and sarcastic, not everybodys taste. I can't judge for real, don't know their other stuff
Good song.. I think it cud'v been even better if they *really* drove it home a lot in the choruses and espec ly at the end!
Never heard this song
