      😅 The easiest way is to get some from a friend. They'll be happy to give you some, because they have to discard often.

    I'm new to sourdough. I've tried to make a few, and I'm not happy with the results. My dough is usually too wet because I can't shape it. This is after all my fold and stretches. The second problem I'm having is that the bottom of my bread is too hard. Help!!!!

    • @lemonka2158
      @lemonka2158 Місяць тому +1

      Maybe the problem is in your placement. Try putting it higher in the oven or maybe see if an extra baking tray(or anything like that, tbh) with nothing on it underneath helps!

    Thanks for adding plenty of details many videos do not have them, and I need all the details I can get LOL I have successfully made sourdough and it is delicious just curious I don't ever use any special baskets or anything like that what kind of towel was it you had I never use a towel because I'm always afraid there's going to be hairs or fuzz or something on it

    Interesting all the difft channels and how they teach sourdough bread making. many of the european channels i watch don't wait 30, they wait an hour.
    in the end, almost same result but it's fascinating to me...

    I’m am very new at bread making but never to old to learn something new!
    I’m a 69 years old country girl!
    My question is this!
    I live in my grandma house! So it’s old n drafty n usually kinda chilly!
    Where n how do I do my dough for it to rise right! Doesn’t it have to be kinda warm for it to rise right?
    Please help with this issue!
    Thanks so much!

    • @MuscleMommaSourdough
      @MuscleMommaSourdough  7 місяців тому +2

      Yes the yeast love warmth! You could put it in the oven with the light on or they sell warming proofing mats online if that doesn’t work! Congrats on learning sourdough, you will love it, it’s so much fun!

    Question:
    I’m looking at your recipe for making sourdough in one day. I’m new to all of this, and I was wondering why we start the night before with the starter. I asked because I’m off and up quite early, around 5 AM, and I feed my starter then. Within four hours it’s ready. I tested a spoonful to see if it floated, and it did. Would that be OK? Or should I stick with feeding the night before?

    • @MuscleMommaSourdough
      @MuscleMommaSourdough  7 місяців тому +1

      Yes that is totally fine! I just made it the night before to keep the timing simple for this video!

    Instead of a bowl can I use a proofing basket in the fridge

  • @Ingrid_Abrams
    @Ingrid_Abrams 5 місяців тому

    My dough rose excellent in the fridge but the stuck to the towel in the fridge and couldn't get it out of the bowl layer without the top sticking- ruined the whole loaf and it went flat.

    That looks great! Would all purpose flour work?

    • @MuscleMommaSourdough
      @MuscleMommaSourdough  7 місяців тому +1

      You could use all purpose but it has a lower protein content than bread flour which can make your loaf more dense and have smaller bubbles inside.

      I just finished the dough today, it’s a bit tougher than shown in the video but hopefully it will turn out fine. I’ll be baking the bread in the morning, I’ll comment when I’m done.

    • @IRllyLikeDeathSitter
      @IRllyLikeDeathSitter 7 місяців тому

      The bread was really doughy and tough but I’m 100% sure it’s my fault, I used half cups instead of full cups so I probably put in 9 half cups by accident when all I needed was 8. I’m making another one and the dough looks so much better already

    • @MuscleMommaSourdough
      @MuscleMommaSourdough  7 місяців тому +1

      @@IRllyLikeDeathSitter oh no! Keep me updated! If your dough ever looks too dry you can add more water than the recipe calls for. It’ll vary depending on your climate and home temp!

    But you do not know how to make yeast that is not sour, and has enough potency to fully bloom the dough in 30 minutes, as apposed to 1 or 2 hours. 🧐
