- IRF is proud to support camera trap operation in Ujung Kulon National Park, Indonesia, home to the last remaining Javan rhinos (Rhinoceros sondaicus). Javan rhinos are critically endangered with only 72 left in the world, though with intensive protection, monitoring, and habitat management, their numbers are slowly increasing.
It's not every day you get to see species this rare - especially not his belly! This is some of the best camera trap footage we've ever seen! Many thanks to Ujung Kulon National Park for sharing it with the world.
Visit rhinos.org/where-we-work/javan-rhino-conservation-program/ to learn more about our work with Javan rhinos.
Please save all 5 rhino species. 🦏

@@IntlRhinoFoundation is it true six other species of rhinos have been feared extinct if so what are the species anyway ?
@@thenaturalhistorian2953 good question! So not necessarily true *species* of rhinos, but you may have heard of certain SUBspecies and/or rhino populations in certain countries going extinct in the past few years. For example the western black rhino subspecies was declared extinct in 2011 but there are still about 5600 other black rhinos left. Javan rhinos were declared extinct in Vietnam in 2010, but they still exist in Indonesia. A subspecies might have adapted to a different geographic region, so may have slightly different genes from the rest of its species, but the differences are not scientifically significant enough to consider them a separate species.

Do you guys feel so bad about the Javan tiger it went 100% extinct in 1990
Reasons: Loss of habitat Poaching and loss of its prey
This video appeared in my country’s news. The rhino looks really happy! I love the way it moves its ears.
Rhinos can swivel it a ears in different directions. It has excellent hearings
