I apologise for the big delay with cooking vids everyone. Finishing the book put me weeks behind the 8 ball, so I have been off intensively filming for a few weeks so I finally have plenty of fresh content to edit and I'll be posting regular cooking vids from now on! (I also have another VLOG and a Prado ep in the bank)
My wife noticed how much time I spend watching your content over and over, she bought me a snowpeak campfire pit. I have you to thank for that directly
I worked at KFC through highschool a million years ago. The "secret" herbs n spices are listed on the bag they use when mixing up the breading. I think there was actually 14 from memory. Inc msg. Just not the ratios. I had them written down and trialing ratios back in 1990 haha.
Did frozen chips twice the cold oil method, first time they were brilliant with every one being crunchy. The second time I couldn’t get the oil hot enough and they were like cardboard. It does work...50% of the time
Mate love the channel and content you put out. My best tip with fried chicken is to double dip and repeat the crumbing process. You have to be quick but well worth the extra crispy bits.
Your mate with the thermometer took his responsibility WAY too seriously! 🤣🤦 All I could hear, through the entire video, was the "beep beep" if him checking the temp... 👏Every 👏19 👏Seconds! 🤣
Harry I've been doing the cold oil fries since I heard about it and I use frozen shoe string fries and they always come out perfectly crispy but I have found if you use larger frozen chips they do indeed not get as crispy/soggyish Loving the videos mate 👌 great seeing you and Ronny together great combo.
I know this vid is from a while ago but did you use Globus Dill Pickle Cucumbers in your recipe. OMG they have been my favourite for like the last 40 years. Good to see you have good taste in some things.
Jeez, how many beers had Ronnie put away prior to the chips going in? He did the old sit the can down to get the chips out of the fridge then ended up with a another drink afterwards 😂😂😂 classic Love the content mate
I'm allergic to dairy and get migraines but if I substitute butter milk for a dairy free alternative I could finally have KFC 😭 thank the gods you give an Easy to follow recipe, you are my saviour
Good to see you fella's hanging out together. Chicken and Taters (and beer). That is about all we here in the states eat. I myself don't fry much but maybe I can talk Mr. King Overland into it. Great Video
Great vid with my two heroes. Missed your vids since the Colonial pig roast. Bought the two knives from Ozbrai after I saw them at Colonial. I see you mostly use the cleaver style one. Do you ever use the chef's knife. By the way the burger looked delicious. Love to see more with you and Ronny.
So when you say Harry that the chicken is from Mount Barker, do you mean from Mount Barker in South Australia? If so, any particular butcher? Do you recommend? Thanks
Hey Harry I noticed your chair looks like it has lumbar support. I have a really bad back too so was wondering what brand it is and how you rate it? Thanks and tell Fred I said hi!!
I know this video is almost half a year old Harry, but I just came across this and there came a question to my mind again I had a few times watching you cooking: what do you do with all the excessive oil after frying?
It depends. If it’s the oil from chips, I’ll always keep it and filter it back in the bottle, but the chicken oil is single use for me. If it’s a popular campsite I’ll take it with me, if not I’ll dig a hole and pour it in- it’s vegetable oil so it degrades very quickly and has no negative impacts.
I think you’ve forgotten the 1 T of powdered ginger in ur spice mix 👍 P.s I can’t see cumin in the kfc spice recipe on the net . Did u have a couple beers putting this recipe up 😂😂😂 🍺 🍺 🍺
He eats random South African dried meats and who knows what other snacks they munch on. Its convenient to hold something with your fingers when you are doing something else. It didn’t look like a cigarette if you zoom in.
Just like my kids...just keep stepping in the shit instead of cleaning it up. Enjoyed it all the same. P.S. try and leave the red onions marinating in the red wine vinegar and salt over night, they are next level.

Not to mention a kid to help cook haha
All is forgiven... If you make me one of the burgers.... ;p
Absolutely no worries there, I'm still trying to catch up on replicating your steak and chips recipe from way back.
It'll be a while before I catch up
Yesss!
Need a job mate??? I own a burger shop...
I love that Ronny is just back there making beeping noises the whole time as he plays with the thermometer.
My wife noticed how much time I spend watching your content over and over, she bought me a snowpeak campfire pit.
I have you to thank for that directly
She's a smart lady . . . . . Gets you practising cooking more often and then she gets a decently tasty feed out of the deal 👍👌
It's great you guys are keeping in touch like this. 👍🏻 Don't wait too long for more on-camera get-togethers, please. 🙏
Don’t worry, we have tons more planned. Now I live in the same city again
That Burger was insanely tasty!
Is Ronny puffing on a scoob? Hahaha
Looks great! Good to see you and Ronny together.

Good to see you back. Cheers from the US.
It's good to see you back with Ronny again!
You should do another interview with him, This time with good audio gear, I'd love to it
good video guys, two of my you tube hero's doing what i love to do (cooking) cheers mate! looks great!
Really enjoyed being envious of you blokes....thanks....I guess
Did frozen chips twice the cold oil method, first time they were brilliant with every one being crunchy. The second time I couldn’t get the oil hot enough and they were like cardboard. It does work...50% of the time
Great video Harry!, it was great to see Ronny in another video of yours. You guys are fun to watch
Deep Fried Friday was the the first time i seen you fellas. Been hooked since👍😎
That Prado will be the most important vehicle in camp...it has all the best ingredients in it.
I love vids of Ronny, and love vids of Harry, so this combination always wins :D
Mate love the channel and content you put out. My best tip with fried chicken is to double dip and repeat the crumbing process. You have to be quick but well worth the extra crispy bits.
Your mate with the thermometer took his responsibility WAY too seriously!
🤣🤦

I think this is possibly the best colab(Ronny, Harry)

Loving the videos mate 👌 great seeing you and Ronny together great combo.
Aussy burgers is not real unless it drips all over the place, that looks so good guys , and you two together again is awesome
If that's 20ml of oil at the start.. you'd be dangerous pouring drinks! 😂
20mm deep
Curious someone didn't get a shovel and dispose of the cow pie after the first step imprint. Great video. Nice to see the two of you together.
Now that's a fried chicken burger! 🤩😍
LoL Ronny taking his task very seriously :D
Now thats my kinda camp food!
What do you do with your used oil when in the bush?
Pretty sure we did cold fry frozen chips that turned out good. Try it. But many thanks for cold fry chips. What an amazing idea
Camp in the dark because.... whaha good one mate epic content again
I was hoping for some of that b roll on on the cow pats
I just had food & i"m drooling again :)
I've been avoiding your videos lately as I've been trying to diet there's always next year I guess 😂😂😂😂
Back to basic camp fire cooking but uses internal temps to cook chicken and oil temp to cook fries, keep it simple and wing I say
Ronny's drinking the best beer ever - Pirate Life IIPA!
I know this vid is from a while ago but did you use Globus Dill Pickle Cucumbers in your recipe. OMG they have been my favourite for like the last 40 years. Good to see you have good taste in some things.
Can we call just take a moment to acknowledge how Australian this whole episode is. Fair dinkum
This is where it’s at!
Jeez, how many beers had Ronnie put away prior to the chips going in? He did the old sit the can down to get the chips out of the fridge then ended up with a another drink afterwards 😂😂😂 classic
Love the content mate
I'm allergic to dairy and get migraines but if I substitute butter milk for a dairy free alternative I could finally have KFC 😭 thank the gods you give an Easy to follow recipe, you are my saviour
Lactose free milk and lemon juice will give you lactose free buttermilk 👌👌
Beer-------mothers milk-------nectar of the gods------don't know how they make it for the price----👍👍👍👍 Cheers
Great looking sandwich homey‘s.
Ok... You better show us EXACTLY what we're supposed to do with the leftover oil after cooking the potatoes...
🤣
Good to see you fella's hanging out together. Chicken and Taters (and beer). That is about all we here in the states eat. I myself don't fry much but maybe I can talk Mr. King Overland into it.
Great Video
I am almost caught up watching all of ftf vids Harry has been busy over the years
thank you share love food meal video
Ur cold oil does work with frozen chips Harry! Just gotta cook em a bit longer! I'll tag ya in my insta story next time I do them 😉🤙🏼
shaken not stirred works for me
Love your work Harry. Would you say a wok filled with oil over a fire with Ronny on the beers is that sensible? Looked wobbly at times.
What are you on about old
Noodle?? Frozen chips come
Out great using the cold oil method!!
Cheers Harry, I actually use the chef knife more than the cleaver. But I love them both
@@firetofork Thanks Harry, The knives are great. I have some expensive Japanese knives but always wanted some carbon steel ones and these are perfect.
What does MSG do to the flavour? and what would it do to the taste if you did not have any?
So when you say Harry that the chicken is from Mount Barker, do you mean from Mount Barker in South Australia?
If so, any particular butcher? Do you recommend? Thanks
Mt Barker WA, they are sold at all supermarkets here
@@firetofork oh ok. Thanks for he reply Harry.
We need more videos with Ronny on the choof 😉
How slick was Ronny’s one handed glove-donning at 11:40?
Oh I just put Cumin in my mix , it’s ground ginger I think
Your helper biatch, needs to be told, Stop walking in front of the camera... 😂😂😂😂. Great video as always, they looked sooo good...
Cheers Mark...
Hey Harry what brand pickles do you buy. I live in QLD and am having trouble buying a good one...
Nice vid Harry! Let us know when you want some handmade leather goods from Queensland!
fk yeah. Been waiting for ya cooking vids.
Should post up the recipe within your vids bud. Keep up the good work.
Full recipes are in the video descriptions mate
Anyone who calls red onions salad herpes is alright in my book.
Could you please do a video on how to look after your knifes?
Have finally got mine and don’t want to ruin them
Yes i also agree. They are the best knives, and i want to know the best way to keep them as sharp as the day i brought them all
can you add the flour to the spice mix in advance ?
Absolutely
Bloody hell that looked so good.
this was great. thanks .
Globus polski ogorki pickles are the only picked to buy 👌
looks good mate.👍
Good stuff enjoy it thanks
Hey Harry I noticed your chair looks like it has lumbar support. I have a really bad back too so was wondering what brand it is and how you rate it? Thanks and tell Fred I said hi!!
Is Ronnie ever in camp before dark!😂 An Australian who actually calls it McDonalds and not whatever you guys call it.😁🤣🤣🤣
I know this video is almost half a year old Harry, but I just came across this and there came a question to my mind again I had a few times watching you cooking: what do you do with all the excessive oil after frying?

@@firetofork That bush solution was what I was thinking of. Thanks mate!
How long do u have the chicken in the brine ?
4-24 hours mate
Jarrah cutting boards will look great but may blunt knives rapidly due to high silica content.
It has a low silica content, but the wood is so hard might be the reason it's wear on tools.
180 Celsius or Fahrenheit? The video quality is legit! Great color saturation and definition.
Celcius mate. Cheers!
I seen you collided with Shane Healy 👍👍👍
Sure did mate
Looks great, now what about a Zinger recipe?
KFC doesn't use buttermilk and they cook the chicken in pressure cookers
Ahh man that looks so good, how the hell did you guys eat those monsters, keep ‘em coming Harry 🤤
I was sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for an oil fire! Yikes 😬
Ronny can grow hair!!! Hah.
Great recipe.
Should have done another 2 hour ep thing like you did last time haha
Next ep will be a vlog mate
I think you’ve forgotten the 1 T of powdered ginger in ur spice mix 👍
P.s I can’t see cumin in the kfc spice recipe on the net . Did u have a couple beers putting this recipe up 😂😂😂 🍺 🍺 🍺
Sorry Hazza but frozen chips do work with cold oil, just have to cook them a bit longer 😉
Interesting. I have buggered them up twice!
@@firetofork yeah man, I use your method all the time with frozen chips. On a stove though not a fire. Might be the difference 🤷♂️
@@firetofork yep me too, over coals in camp oven turned out perfect
What about the cheese?
Who’s playing with the camera, Fred?😂
17 dislike they must hate dirty bird 😂 😂 😂 I gave it a like 👍🏽
Who gave Ronny a chair? He never bring ones
I didn't know Ronny smoked.
He doesn’t. I just saw that at 5.09 and I honestly have no idea what he's holding, or why he's holding it like that - but it's not a cigarette.
@@firetofork I saw that, too. I was thinking exactly the same thing (not that it would really matter).
@@firetofork its a joint? ;p
If it is, he was very subtle about it 😂
@@firetofork Arnt we all ;)
Can we expect to see a fridge review anytime soon? 😬
Where does one find said dirty bird recipe?
In the video description mate
@@firetofork thanks I thought so but I want to make sure that was all of it. Ill have to try it myself here soon.
If it doesn't have MSG it isn't the recipe.
So much salt 🧂
Ronny smokes now? I saw something in his hand.
😂😂 we have no idea what he was holding. He doesn’t smoke though
He definetly put it to his mouth as he walked out of frame!
Poor Ronny smoking on screen 5.15. Puts me off him now 👎
He eats random South African dried meats and who knows what other snacks they munch on.
Its convenient to hold something with your fingers when you are doing something else.
It didn’t look like a cigarette if you zoom in.
@@antonyrayson7425 it was beef jerky! He doesn't smoke, never has
Flash looking dirty bird burger. Bet it tasted good too
Just like my kids...just keep stepping in the shit instead of cleaning it up. Enjoyed it all the same. P.S. try and leave the red onions marinating in the red wine vinegar and salt over night, they are next level.
Was missing your head
Wiping your nose with the back of hand every minute isn't the best hygiene for a cook.
👍❤🇦🇺🍺
Harry has ruined common beer for me. After trying colonial can’t go back
It’s a slippery and delicious slope
I am the same. I found a Dan Murphys in QLD that stocked it.... OMG the Pale ale is good too!
I go with goats for a cheaper option. Colonial is a bit harsh on the pocket if you have a couple after work most days
Now ya just need to get sickpuppy Spud on the show and ya go iron chef styles.
That’s a 1/10 😂
@@firetofork :~( ... Do it via zoom in the outback then ... ;p
This looks like a dangerous meal to cook when you're half cut 😂
Oh I dunno, Harry seems to get by unscathed most of the time 😉
I’m a seasoned professional... at drinking. No idea what I’m doing with hot oil though
