I personally don’t find the model used for polar to be bad, as someone who used to love Matel dolls and the shows alike. She’s just so bland. Her appearance really doesn’t assist how her music sounds or the lyrics behind it. She sort of reminds me of tofu, like the food; on its own it’s practically nothing, but it is able to take on the flavour of things around it. The lyrics to her songs seem disorganized, unrelated, or even just like general statements at times. I find the idea of the mask she wears interesting, but not for a virtual singer. I think it’s ok to have inspiration from other successful things, but not blatantly ripping them off (Miku clone) it’s so strange to me how much this looks like a soulless matel attempt at virtual singers. The reason many hate Polar , including me , is because not only her design is a cheap tiktok "dancer" copy of Miku, but they advertise her like the "first virtual singer" as if vocaloid never existed , what about Miku in 2007? What about Meiko? The first Japanese vocaloid in 2004, now back at her design , not to mention that she looks like a child , yet she seems to be getting sexualized a lot , they'll never achieve what they want , Polar is just a cheap copy of vocaloid who tries too hard to seem original and fails miserably

Polar is a corporate attempt to capitalize on the young child audience on TikTok that will watch literally anything.
True, she's definitely aimed at the Tik Tok audience
They didn't even create a unique vocal synth for her; it's just a voiced character. She'll never be like Miku.
True. And there's nothing wrong with making a regular singer character, but ripping off vocaloid aesthetic with no credit is not cool.
@@MatrixAMch No, I think if they're gonna go the whole "virtual singer" route then they need to commit. Make a voicebank.
I think that’s the purpose though, she isn’t a voicebank like Miku, rather an actual singer with a virtual character.
@@johnathannguyen4309 yeah and that's dumb
@@kay-kay6483 I don’t get why having an actual voiced singer is dumb?
You know its bad when emirichu calls out on it
same goes to RubberRoss as well
Very true
Wait she did?
@@meandurmom815 yes its in this video
If you go into any of Polar's social media, you can see easily that most of the comments are bots, they are all sending similar messages talking about how they love her music and are inspired by her. On her newest music videos the comments are turned off, and on her instagram there are barely any comments from active profiles and all her followers seem to be bots.
Some strange things are going on in the comments for sure
polar is the non good kid combination of k/da, vocaloid, Splatoon, and they immediately throw away the child.
Yeah, just seems like they're trying to cash in on existing stuff without giving any credit.
@@MatrixAMch I only like one song from polar, and that is generation z, otherwise than that, polar is a copy of every virtual singer I can remember.
It's hilarious they didn't even try to make it NOT SEEM LIKE A MIKU CARBON-COPY. They could've made it look like a lesser-known vocaloid like CUL or something and gotten less smackdown, but they just went for the aqua twintails. Tf were they thinking?
Thank you! Blame the company, and nothing else. Polar is just fine with me. But not the company, obviously.
Yeah, she honestly seems pretty nice, but I can't stand the way the company does things.
I’m half expecting a doll to be brutally honest.
I like the tofu metaphor. That's a good description of what her content feels like.
Yeah. It's clearly unoriginal. They just mixed two well known virtual singers. While leaning in more into the K-pop style. And calling it a day.
They could have at least TRIED to be a bit more original with it
i always loved vocaloid and the squid sister but polar...
*she is a menace to society.*
Or at least the corporation behind her is
I like how it immediately cuts away when it showed Rus Noodle and 2D
As a miku fan. Polar belongs in the opposite of my heart. Outside it!
True!
I was going to show this to my little sister but then I hear world is mine by Hatsune Miku downstairs the worst timing
Haha that's a pretty funny coincidence
I got curious after watching this video and checked her latest song. Its like i'm watching pixar trying to make a character for adult swim. I feel sorry for the person behind her. she seems really talented.
Her voice is pretty good. If only she wasn't stuck with a bland model and generic songs.
@@MatrixAMch she would have been better off auditioning for hololive or nijisanji.
1:28 THATS OFF THE HOOK NOT SQUID SISTERS MAN 😭😭
Yeah, my mistake, I wasn't really well versed in Splatoon when I made this. I've educated myself now lol.

Polar has mint colour hair, miku has cyan colour hair
That is the difference+having a black mask and yellow eyes
i like these videos with more personality 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks, Ro! Trying my best to improve that!
As someone who has liked vocaloid for ages this rubbed me the wrong way, it feels like they’re trying to capitalize off of the years worth of successes and technological advancements made by other (mostly eastern) companies while not acknowledging them AT ALL. Not to mention the model and music feel like flimsy attempts at easy money since they feel like the west needs this niche filled? Ugh
It really is poor taste to not acknowledge anyone else. And there are already a few western companies that are doing it better than TheSoul Publishing anyway.
They really did just take the Japanese out of Hatsune Miku…
they whitewashed a goddamn singing robot, lmfao. But two years later, we don’t remember her, we only remember Miku. The world is hers, after all.
Yes Miku is forever Miku is eternal
This has the same energy as a company using memes to advertise their products.
"How do you do, fellow kids?"
As a vocaloid fan, and seeing the thumbnail, I see this as an absolute win 🗿
Miku: "y'all hear something?"
_(Also, love the Squid Sisters/Off the Hook shout out, lol.)_
I don't even hate her design, but the way the company is trying to shill her is laughable.
Yeah, the whole marketing approach is just really bad.
Hope we have a Deep Cut concert in a few years :D

Polar will never be better than the Squid Sisters, Off the Hook, or even Deep Cut in their first concert.
This is the X-th time in wich a big corporation will redo somenthing that by that point was kinda bland and upon wich many pepole spent lot of time and work on and claim to be pioneers , visionaries and to have revolutionized the market !
It happend with space exploration , virtual reality , electric cars , queer rapresentation , virtual singers ecc. Ecc.
It's grifting , the internet is sick of it ...
Very true. I'm glad people stood up to it this time, though unfortunately we're also probably giving the corporation more attention than they would have gotten otherwise.

my local news station actually interviewed her on the news today
Oh wow, seems like they're really pushing her in the media then.
"Despite her big number, no one seems to have ever heard of her"
For me, it's really true. I never heard polar until youtube recomend me to watch a video About her, but yeah. Her design is pretty boring, specialy since there's no mouth on her.
Edit: and i still confuse that the company name is "TheSoul" and yet they make a soulless character.
Yeah, everything about the design is very soulless.
Look... she is fine, but the way they worded it made it seem like she was one of a kind and so revolutionary. Created a bad taste in my mouth
Exactly. At least give credit to the people who came before.
I think Polar accidentally encapsulates the entire Metaverse. Her entire existence is literally "The same shit we already have, only worse."
That's a great way to put it
0:42 ayyy splatoon squid sisters
Voice acting wise is okay, just sad to see that it’s being used to promote a character that the internet seems to not care about. She’d have a better chance of surviving with a new character design and not being associated with such companies tbh.
I do hope she's able to use her talents somewhere else in the future.
Oh yea totally remembered the day when miku first had her live concert . It was a day long remember and to behold
I can imagine it must have been pretty mind-blowing

@@MatrixAMch yeah :’) kinda sad a little bit
The reason many hate Polar , including me , is because not only her design is a cheap tiktok "dancer" copy of Miku, but they advertise her like the "first virtual singer" as if vocaloid never existed , what about Miku in 2007? What about Meiko? The first Japanese vocaloid in 2004, now back at her design , not to mention that she looks like a child , yet she seems to be getting sexualized a lot , they'll never achieve what they want , Polar is just a cheap copy of vocaloid who tries too hard to seem original and fails miserably
*Just here singing Hibana don't mind me*
Thank you for mentioning The Squid Sisters :). They should really be recognized :) and I agree!
Quite interesting that a soulless attempt to capitalize on the already flourishing Vsinger and Ventertainer scene is managed by a company called "Soul". Ironic, even.
Very ironic, indeed.
For me, Miku has that something when you watch and listens to her its like she wants to be part of us the same we want her to be realistic but at the same time she has to remain as virtual miku.

Miku or polar
@@Urban_CREATOR which ones are those?
@randomguy6556 Polar's the one he's talking about in the video, and Hatsune Miku is a virtual singer which anyone can use to sing their songs; So Hatsune Miku's songs are created by the community in Vocaloid program and Polar is owned by one company which is behind all the songs she 'sings'
@@randomguy6556Polar might look good, but it's owned by the company who's behind five minute crafts just to make money and nothing else, while to make somgs with Hatsune Miku people put all their heart into writing lyrics and making her sing; for me, Miku will always be the best one, and no soulless 'new virtual singer' can replace her
@_Sonari_ I follow capitalist beliefs in terms of business ideas.
Prior to owning a business, it was hard to do multiple jobs without lowering the quality of work.
Tho, after expanding the business to 4x it's size the quality has fallen a lot from what I used to do.
I understand the business deciding to do what you call a soulless business opportunity, but I see it as a way to improve and should be embraced.
I only used to only offer one specific service, but now I offer multiple services and have recruited multiple workers now.
Still, I don't see why polar is hated.
I think she sings lovely.
Mikus, one voice sounds raspy, which I don't like.
If they were buildings, Polar would be 1x1 minecraft house while Miku would be *SUN* .
The thumbnail is a insult to wish
I don't really like how Polar's movements seem choppy as if someone used a type of Motion sensor on themselves to control her movements. I know VTubers do the same but they're a lot more smoother
It seems like they didn't invest a lot of money into the model, which confuses me since this company makes tons of profit from their other channels.
