    That was amazing to see the communication. I'm hoping to learn how to do that with my horse when I buy it next year.

    Russ, I am really enjoying your videos. It's always good to have another perspective. I was really interested in your video about directing instead of driving and it will not play. I have tried several times now. It would be great if I could see to help with the lunging process and training. Thanks so much.

      I am glad you are enjoying the series. I don't know why you are unable to view the video on Driving versus Directing. I just checked and it is working fine for me on UA-cam. This is the link to the video, please try again. ua-cam.com/video/rRKgW7TbUuw/v-deo.html

    Great video. Just one question, I couldn't see what you did to get the horse to stop and go and backup in addition to speed up and slow down. I watched the video several times and just couldn't figure it out. Could you do a video on those things. Please and thank you.

      I guess I wanted to show how subtle the feel could be when a horse is focused and a person presents feel with clarity. I will add your request to the list of video suggestions.

    How did you teach her to go out in the circle though? Great video and I'd love to use these principles but my pony wont go forward unless I drive from the rear. What were the very first signals to tell her that you want her to go out? And what do you do if they dont understand? Hope to hear from you. Thanks so much.

      This video explains how to to start the circle ua-cam.com/video/V41kxJpOIc4/v-deo.html
      Don't drive from the rear, but from just behind the shoulder (elbow). Good luck.

    If asking for a canter would you use a longer line?

    • @RossJacobs
      @RossJacobs  5 років тому +2

      Absolutely. As your horse becomes more focused and connected your circle would get larger. To ask for a bigger trot or a canter or a gallop I would be extending the size the circle at each stage. In fact, adjusting the size of the circle every lap or hlaf lap or 5 laps could be something you could add to your repertoire of things that would motivate your horse to strengthen its focus.

    How about showing work with a horse that isn't fully trained as is Styx??

      Because these videos are about principles, which is way more important than methods. You can figure out your own methods if you understand the principles. But you have to understand the principles. Good horse people are thinking horse people.

    "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts" says the Lord. Isaiah 55:8 ----all your talk about thought made me think of this passage-----"my thoughts are nothing like your thoughts" says Six to Ross. Your one-on-one with horse fascinating...human conceptualization of thought may be far different than horse's
