Castle was my first defense main when I was learning Siege at first, but opted for others. Educational Kini helped me understand what benefit he is supposed to give the team.

@8:45 the reason castles gun is so quiet with a Supressor is because 45 ACP is a sub sonic round, so when suppressed its super heckin quiet compared to, say, 308/7.62 and 5.56, or even 9mm for that matter.
The fact Ubi made castles Ump so quiet is just a testament to the old days when seige was a gritty tactical shooter focused on realism

I would love more educational Kini! Also, to add to his comments, I'd also add that Castle has guaranteed delay against the Attackers, forcing them to spend time breaking his barricades if they don't have explosives. The only other operator who has anything like this is Aruni, but you can just walk thru her gates if you have enough health for it.

Dude Kap is so much more deadly, and he was always great to play beforehand. I've played a couple of times since the rework and I'm pushing a 2 K/D. Especially since you can put the traps lower now it seems they're more difficult to spot. It's like constant free kills if you place them intelligently. Plus I've gotten REALLY good with his 9mm primary. Playing him is like putting on an old boot. So comfy.

I have a friend who is a castle main and me thats a mute main its fun when we ban sledge and see the attackers use nades or other utility and sometimes their last hope is to smack it down.
This video got me to try castle again and I never realized how fun and potentially good he can be with just a bit of thinking. Thanks for the great content!
4 seasons ago that suppressor glitched worked with Ying. Its so op. It quiets ur environment so u can hear footsteps and important sounds, and the only sound the enemy heard is bullets ricocheting behind them, and they flip out.
Castle is really fun to play because I think he’s at his strongest when you utilize everything that makes Siege unique all at once. Primarily, the environmental destruction, the necessity of map layout knowledge, and how anticipating your enemies moves gives you an upper hand.
If you assume your enemy knows the map’s basic layout, then you can use Castle barricades to prevent a lot of movement that will happen later in the rounds like attacker rotations and flanks by guessing the routes they’re likely to take, and then catch them off guard by using the shotgun to create unexpected sightlines and rotation routes that give you the upper hand. I think that’s why he’s named Castle - you can use him to build your own custom section of the map which will disorient the enemy team.
It took me forever to realize he’s really more of an off-site anchor than an objective site reinforcer, but once I did I started to love playing him.

Castle's strength lies in shoving up random ass barricades to confuse your enemy. Or a more practical use is to funnel stealthy attackers into your sights. They can break your barricades sure, but they can't sneak up on you.

For Pulse, the UMP works because it balances out his gadget. He can get the advantage easily, so making it up with subpar firepower works. Castle, though? Think he could have a better gun and it would still balance out.
