Snake eyes being as powerful as it is demands even more powerful cards be made. The fact that you have to break their board twice and play through every single fucking hand trap that exists because it has so many 1 card starters with three different effects and you can activate all of them in a turn is insane. Even their spells and traps have graveyard effects.
This s what gets me confused. Snakes eyes is flat out OP. It may be spicy to say but i think most snake eyes cards need to be limited to 1 with a few completely banned. There are so many other architypes that are just flat out banned for being just as OP as snake eyes
This should be have a tear treatment. I mean tear have like 2 or 3 eff on their card.
Though snake eyes is not that resillient to banlist. I mean banning either poplar, or original, or flamberge is basically almost crippled the deck
Glass half full and wallet empty this format
😂😂😂😂
Hey, everyone! Audio was messed up toward the end! We fixed it!
But like who did you guys agree on as the best prodigy in Anime during stream I couldn't watch I was at work.
Ahh dont worry bout it king 👑 keep throwing these videos up and we will come runnin. Like cockroach’s joining in a corner. We will be here 🤜🏼 🤛🏼.
Also, im taking Voiceless Melodious to locals today. They better pray i dont draw pre-prep, and ostinato. Cause if they ash pre prep. Im gonna laugh and throw down ostinato. 😂😂 end on appo odd-eyes vortex, skull guardian, Lo, colossus from corridor and s:p.
I think the editor put the wrong Albion
@@TheBatmarcus no, we just started talking about how much of a disappointment Gohan is...
@@thecalieffect I mean that's fair. Gohan was really good and then just wasn't for a long time. My money is on Kakashi as the best prodigy in anime.
How many YCS did PEPE win before they had an emergency banlist? I feel like we are at that point.
1 YCS and 2 regionals or something like that, lasted one competitive weekend
Then tenpai will take over
The deck was cheap that’s why
Yeah Konami hitting cheap good decks is some bushit like unchained it was fucking fine didn't even let it fight with snake eyes @dpacula63
Did we even get an emergency banlist with ishizu tear? If not I highly doubt we will get one with snake eyes
🐶love it when he calls me big dog
Cali is great at making it feel personal in both a good and bad way without being a dick. I remember when he once said “don’t tell me yall only have a playset of underwear”. Might be my favorite Cali quote 😂😂😂
@@Saixjacket Cali is my fav yugituber for this very reason! Dudes always on point, keeping it real, but also hilarious. He dropped a great one a couple days ago, can’t remember the vid but he basically made a joke about needing to order extra food when you’re with your gf cause she always going to eat some, then he was like “what am I saying? Yall don’t have girlfriends” 💀😂
Nah F Snake eyes fam that shit was sooo damn lame i literally watched 3 feature mirror matches and they were all snake eyes...im not even a snake eyes player and i know the combos man...the most stale format ever😒
Tier 0 formats are fine with me. Some rogue decks have a really decent snake eyes match up. If anything I recommend hitting snake eye ash to 1
theres more creativity in UNO, than in the ygo community.....
🐏
The judges wanted snake eyes to win. My table was selected for a deck check round 3. My opponent had multiple sized sleeves received a warning. I had 2 platinum secret rare, 1 ultimate rare, and 2x 1st movement solo (1 of each printing) . I received a game loss and was told I needed to get different rarities if I wanted to continue playing in the ycs, because supposedly my cards were easy to locate in the deck. But my opponent having different sleeve sizes wasn't that big of an issue. My opponent was using snake eyes. 9:09
Aint no way thats some bs having different sized sleeves already should get someone dq and being called out for having different raritys is stupid its konamis own products if it was truly a problem it wouldve been addressed a while ago with other people the judges u got need to be held accountable
Wait I'm new to yu gi oh can you actually get in trouble for this?
@@Happyeye only because the judges are ass. argue with them and you get DQ or removed from the event/venue
@phoenix5095 Yeah, having different sized sleeves running a $800+ tier 0 deck is obvious cheating. Even if the rarity makes cards slightly stiffer or thinner, it has no actual impact when shuffling and allowing the opponent to cut/shuffle.
@Happyeye apparently so. Someone else using maximum gold rarity cards got told the same thing
I had to stop. I had spent 2k in a week just to compete in a tournament. Wasn’t even worth it.
The problem with snake-eyes is there’s no lock or punishment.
Yup, they banned a lot of card like pot of greed and lovecraft monsters, to name my favorites, that are banned specifially for the mechanics you cited.
logistically, the event was well run
gameplay wise.........................that's the problem
Nah. The prizes are garbage
I played against the salad FTK in round 11 of day 2 with Blackwings. It was a great match congrats to him.
YCS Snake Eyes. Not YCS Indianapolis lol.
On the real though. I saw a Salad SE deck in there in one of those games I was skipping through. Should have just played Salads pure or just played Snake Eyes pure.
I think I maybe saw one interesting deck in a sea of Tenpai and Snake Eyes lol.
They were only playing salads to enable an FTK
I feel Konami should update the master rule, quick play spell should only be able to chain activate during your own turn, if they want to activate something during opponent turn; that would be the job scope of traps
Please let traps do their job, dont let quick play spells steal their spot in the deck
Nice to see that the Inari burn combo is finally getting some recognition. I was using it in my SE deck for quite awhile though if I count my Dino Charmer deck even longer.
Konami Playbook
1. Destroy card values with meaningless reprints
2. Create game altering cards that have no business existing
3. Profit off of thousands of boxes sold
4. Host tournament to create FOMO for cards.
5. Once box set sales slow down immediately ban list or limit aforementioned card
6. Ban people for complaining
When isn't there a problem at a YCS. Every YCS event there a problem. Then there is a "possible" solution but it won't matter Konami won't listen cause players and ppl keep buying and participating. If u want change to the YCS, to yugioh, speak with your wallet.
Gotta love how they have Snake-Eyes winning all the time, but they had problems with Dragon Rulers when it was about the same.
Dragon Rulers weren't able to break tier zero because of Spellbook, and they still banned the entire deck
Evilswarm also kept DR in check....snake eyes legit has nothing
Dragon rulers were kept in check by having ot share thespotlight with full power spellbooks
snake eyes on the other hand has nothing to keep it in check because its both a sdtrong deck by itself, but it also offer a splashable engine ot basically every other deck. making event just a bunch of " snake eyes X " . dek mirrors
Snake eyes has to get banned. The fact that my baby Baronne had to suffer for them is heartbreaking
"my baby Baronne"
Baronne was played by just about everyone. If your "baby" is one of the most powerful cards ever made, it's not saying anything.

Prizing could be better. Even for someone who goes to a One Piece regional and only does better then half the people attended gets something that already that compensates their entree fee without attendee packs. It could be that One Piece is simply hot right now and value for everything will go down but I think the rumor of people quitting Yugioh for lack of worthwhile prizing should be in consideration.
I’m still nostalgic for the AGOV format. Hands down my favorite format in the last 3 years.
Yup, right before Jan Banlist. That was peak YGO. Could show up with nearly any deck and skillful piloting would be evident vs "Pick your Floodgate" Meta were in

@@georgevest1730both competitive events and casual ones like locals were much more varied in terms of deck representation. Unless you knew the person you were going up against you couldn’t really have a very solid guess as to what they were playing before starting the round
That branded list was so fire.
I differ on a few tech choices but he’s got all the ratios right that so many people get wrong.
3 cart, 2 quiem, 2 grang should be mandatory. Droplets. Is mandatory. The more shrouded dragons the better. Unless you’re playing a ton of bystials one high spirits is better. Allure still provides a ton of advantage with at least 3 cards to send for it to profit big. People starting to realize in the branded community that 2-3 fusion dupe is actually insane vs just one you get off of thrust
They need to hit snake eyes in order for people to start using other decks.
'Year of the Fire'
Shaping to be a long fucking year
Me playing pure Infernobles and smashing MD ladder: Hell yeah it is
Konami had no idea how to make fire relevant without busting it way open.
Only time I ever used pendulums was when super heavy Samaria got the new support last year on May
I punted top 16 king playing branded for 11 plus rounds is very difficult
When the top 4 hit, I turned off my phone.. 😂
Facts
Same kind of. I turned it off after the Labrynth player lost. All downhill from there.
Haven’t gotten a minute in but I’m gonna guess that the only top deck was 20 handtrap snake eye
The other day at locals swear I saw Cali take off his hair and put it back on in the restroom
Good branded players are usually setting up puppet lock with branded in red with lost on board and using sanctifire during the lost window so u cant respond so droplets vs that is a bit gambly
I owned maybe like 2 decks when I was a kid, the blue eyes dragon and dark magician (wonder where those went away). I also liked the anime when I was a kid.
So, three days ago I downloaded master duel. Chose to build a gravekeeper deck. Suffice to say, nobody set 1 monster and 2 trap cards anymore.
Like, holy, everyone is summoning monsters like they breed rabbits 😂
I've ran imperm droplets and chalice in several decks. Nice to activate chalice fist, bait something then activate droplets and send Chalice as one of the cards to activate it. A lot of value, works with imperm turn 2 as well
Key take aways : cali finally understands EVERYONE IS PLAYING THE SAME CARDS? Its almost as if people feel FORCED TO USE THE SAME CARDS OVER AND OVER, You have to spend 1000’s to play the game
This was the first YCS I’ve judged and honestly it was a great time from the judge’s side of things too. We were having a lot of fun and everyone on staff very clearly respected each other, helped each other, and made me feel like the judge program is a real family. Honestly just a great all around event in everywhere but the fact that it’s a tier 0 format.
Bro i remember when the lab player lost because of harpies feather duster 😭😭💀💀💀
Hey Cali, what cards could I put in my Alien/control deck to help against these meta decks like snake eyes and voiceless voice? I’m thinking maybe dark ruler no more, forbidden droplet, and evenly match to name a few ?
How can we praise a salamangreat deck thats more than half hand traps? Like yeah cool, but its still snake eyes, and its still toxic as hell
I liked that they tried showcasing more roguish/lesser seen decks in the swiss. It was great seeing other people's techs and giving other decks time to shine.
Then top 32 happened.....
Favorit part I wcs indi was the negated fenrir win
People who want a deck to use against the meta - Gravekeepers might surprise you! 👀
Ya gotta love seeing it. They ban barrone, borreload savage, and linkuriboh and what’s that… snake eyes is dead maybe it’ll only be snake eyes fire king. It won’t stay tier zero. Guess we can put that on the wrong prediction list 😂.
My Crystal Beasts are putting on a brave face for when they inevitably ban Zealantis due to the sins of the Sinful Spoils, lol
Anyone who thought banning those cards without also hitting Snake-Eye hard would somehow cripple the deck wasn't using their brain.
Alluka is not really a child prodigy because Nanika is just a calamity that lives in Alluka and can take over her body when granting wishes, but Nanika is a separate person/entity.
crossout is good if you are going for a more aggressive build. I like them with a smaller engine of handtraps like 1 or 2 of certain copies.
Salamangreat FTK but really the most important part is the Snake Eyes engine. LOL that must be wild to say out loud😂😂😂
At one of the locals I went to: one night I had two snake eyes matchups back to back. That weekend there were 5 Floo players including me 🐧 what happened to dat boi?
Who edited this 🤔
I been using chalice to success lately cause I don’t actually own forbidden droplet in paper
still waitin on that lab list
What’s the editor doing? I thought I was glitching.
Appreciate this breakdown great insights excited for the future of yugioh!! Konami ban some snake eye cards and let us play!!! Lol
Thanks for this video, man, and I very strongly agree with your points. There needs to be tiering action taken against Snake Eyes to balance the metagame. Also, Konami needs to take a hard look at pricing to level the playing field. The way only some can afford many of the top cards is unhealthy and a terrible way to further the overall game.
So on the child prodigy part did we just forget yuno?
They actually said Yuno
Evenly Matched was MVP for me at YCS Indy. Without it I never would have day 2’d with Traptrix.
The best format we had in the last 3 years was the Tribrigate, bird up, swoso format (yes even with protos legal)
Never want to waste my time and money ever again with this brand! Have fun with 5 meta archetypes! NOTHING will change
1840-something players actually, guy round 1 called it that’s the main reason I recall it
I went to the YCS and went 2w3L then dropped and I’ll be honest, I’m not having fun. I started playing 6 months ago. My starting deck was Salamangreat. My locals are really sweaty and I learned this game basically by trial by fire. I went to the YCS with snake eyes and it felt so…. Off. Like I’m not mad at the arc type. The combo is fun to pull off. But it’s just too good, the victory’s I got were super hollow and fast, and the losses were “did I draw cross out or skill drain? No? Well I lose” Good for the guy that topped with Salamangreat man, I miss playing that deck.
I don't really care for the number of attendees. In NA... Those high numbers arent happening. Most content creators pissing and moaning about attendances barely attend their own locals. The boring thing about this event was the round skippers. They got to disregard building their deck around the Overly powerful and Overly represented 'Others' Deck. Then the terrible product plugging. "Look at all those Starlight rares in NPC's deck. You can grab your Starlight rares from a fresh box of Rarity Collection 2. Specifically 2. Released 2 weeks ago. It's just something about those new Platinum rarities. They just pop more".
So if we were to see I:P and Apollousa banned, assuming no other relevant changes for the sake of argument, what strictly worse endboard pieces would Snake-eye go into instead and would they be enough to make up for those cards which are a problem even outside snake-eye anyway?
At this rate they're gonna have to ban Stardust Dragon if it's the last best Level 8 generic Synchro with the word 'negate' on it XD
Stardust tributing itself to negate exactly a card effect that destroys something else then reviving during end phase (if nothing interacts with it to banish it which is a major concern these days) on a 2500 body isn't the same as omni-negates or even just an unrestricted monster effect negate or spell negate.
We need more Nordic and Gladiator Beast support
I hate to sound like a broken record and like one of THOSE players, but I feel like one of the main issues in the game is actually the amount of hand traps in it. Just about every deck runs the same 9 to 12 cards, and every deck runs 3 ash blossom from what I've seen. I actually do a few test duels to improve my strategies and limit ash to at least 1 in my decks, and it actually provides a variety of outcomes to my duels, even allowing what would normally be considered low tier decks to compete with even my melodious deck. Whenever I do draw ash in my turns, it guarantees a loss on either side as both decks I use are cappable of OTKing one another, and stopping the combo/defense will spell certain defeat on whoever gets ashed. I've never been a fan of certain wins or certain losses, but a good back and forth in a duel, and limiting one ash actually allows me to play out a duel into some rather surprising outcomes and amazing back and forths. At the end of the day, you should want to win, yes, but I feel as though it'd be more entertaining if not everyone was running the same thing, and it usually happens because the hand traps everyone uses tends to stop some of the more unique and unexpected decks from entering high tier status, only to pave the way for things like snake eyes to be completely unstoppable at top tier play. I'm sure snake eyes has a few weaknesses, it's just not cappable of failing often since it runs the same thing everyone else runs to counter it.
God I wish I could financially afford to compete at a ycs level. It seems so fun.
Somehow i think the easyest solution is make a card/arquetipe whit "imune to efects and atacks from non normal summoned vanilla monsters" or "the oponent must dont have any special summoned monster for win"
The normal summon vanilla monsters are too slow and a lot of top cards are too fast so requering a normal summoned normal moster for a specific card make the top decks more slow a add a mini mindgame bcuz adding not that specific card make a oponent deck have a (probably) useless card
What they should do moving forward instead of crowd shots, show the featured match but record a second match to play in between features. Keeps people into the streams without the announcing crew having to work constantly for the length of the event.
i was at the ycs indy and snake-eye is just pissing everyone off
I like it when at first it didn't seem liable and tournaments but then now everybody is playing it😂😂
I've never seen a single snake-eyes player at my locals in the UK.
I’ve not experienced it a lot in the UK either Played against it twice early on in phantom nightmare release at locals, but then I think they wised up to the fact we’re not getting decent events in EU and sold them 😂
Lucky
Chess is key equal master of mind
As someone that genuinely loves and doesn’t want to give up on the game, what if People were to suddenly just stop investing in these crazy cards?? Imagine if all the duelists in a tournament were using fun trash decks for a while. Could you see Konami doing something petty like trying to promote more of the expensive stuff harder? Hit and limit lesser decks to try to force us to the expensive stuff? I mean as someone who wants to save Yugioh, what would it take??
If they nerfed Superheavy Samurai after one weekend, idk why they can't do the same thing about Snake-Eyes
I don’t know how Yugioh is in such healthy spot player attendance wise when you gotta be rich to compete. I guess alot of people like going x-3 drop and wasting money.
Its a facade. Locals are drying up and the only in person events we can attend are regonals and YCS. I cant speak for the whole TCG but for my area its easier to find a regional than a locals.
@ehschargers6510 when I still lived in northern Delaware until last year. There were so many places within a reasonable reach to play local and regional wise. Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia. I'm surprised living in Southern California now how it was to find a locals and that regional game is awful, thankfully my locals is pretty well attended and those LA regionals 800 plus people are always an delight.
@@ehschargers6510 ever since I’ve moved to Pokémon it’s been super easy to find places to play pokemon. But Yugioh there’s only really a couple shops people play at and the majority of them only like to play at 1 and they’re pretty Xenophobic about going to other locals and build the scene.
I keep seeing people saying Apo/I:P and other strong generic ED monsters should be banned. No it is definitely not the newly released overpowered archetypes which can run 20 HTs, that have 15 one card starters, out of which 10 are extenders and most have a recursion effect, that are the problem. If somebody told me 2 years ago that linkuriboh is a problematic card I would have thought that the person is on drugs.
Oh yeah and don't forget to ban all the newly affordable cards.
I will repeat what I said 9 months ago. Stop buying product until they fix the game.
I’ll be shocked if the next ban list doesn’t neuter snake-eyes. The deck is fun for people playing it but for everyone else wanting to play something different it’s just miserable.
Snake eye will be next dragon ruler
Konami should bring Tearlament back then there is Fire vs Water ;)
But tearlaments are dark monsters with a few water
@@ThePaulodash Sorry forgot. Then Pyro vs Aqua. I just wanna have tear back

At the moment, I just contemplating watching this and looking at my locals. And it just want me to quit honest. I’m playing my style not the meta get rag on and call broke. I’m sorry for trying to have fun and try new things. Any opinion on this be great.
Hunker down for another 3-4 months till the mega tin reprints and konami feels justified murdering the deck once its "affordable"
I returned to ygo recently, and to me the solution seems clear.
Just make support for evey old archetype, not a gazillion of support for dark magician, and a lot of people qill buy them because of nostalgia.
I have a friend who is way deeper then me into this game that would love to play gimmick puppet competitivly and would pay a lot to do so.
Power creep is a problem? Just pay your game designer more to come up with archetype or strategies that are the same power as the current meta, but with a really cool gimmick.
Befote saying that nobody would by the deck having an already good one, you have to remember that professional players are still players, and if a deck it's not 2000 bucks, then they will buy it happly if it plays in a way they lkle it.
I can hear you say that Konami just wants money, and i agree, but by following this method, while decks would cost less, there would be more deck bought by the casual player base.
Why do you think nobody plays ygo casually anymore? Because a blue-eyes starter deck is not just a bad deck, it's down right unplayable, to the point of losing against a deck made out of booster pack (yeah, i tested it, with 3 deck, all made up of shit, and it lost evey time).
Nobody will want to play a game like that, and trying to explain to them "oh no, you have to buy three deck and then..." will just looks like stealing money in a fancy way.
A better way would be to sell just the good cards of the deck at a cheaper pricef, noting on the cover that to reach a legal deck size with just those cards, you would need to buy 3 more, and boom, nobody would feel scammed anymore.
The sad thing is, we all know, more or less, those things, the problem is that konami will probably not listen.
The only thing we can do is to buy nothing until they fix the problem this way, it's utopistic, but maybe not impossible, and besides, utopia is my favourite archetype, so why not belive that we as a community can win against Komoney?
there was to many snake eyes deck there needs to be hit harder on the ban list
Card design needs to be looked at, they’re either bad or amazing there’s few just good middle ground cards.
Time rules have always bugged me and feels like something that should be looked at again
EU support, what is going on with the lack of YCS’s in the EU, why did speed duel get cancelled in this region?
The only time I ever quit Yugioh was 2019, since Sky Strikers had been clogging the game for far too long. I'm seriously about to quit again for very similar reasons.
yah that why say losing the omni negates was basicly foricing people to play this damn deck so no i be glad when it gone tis wht not playing comptivly
