Levinas, what a fucking beautiful writer, and communicator of ideas, that are just absolutely other. I can feel my mind blowing, while comprehending this. I mean, just... amazing.
Hi Mark! I never make comments on youtube, this is probably the first time I am commenting on a video ever so hope you see this. I am an art student in the UK writing a dissertation on Aesthetic Sublime and what it means today, your videos and commentary gave so much insight into these difficult texts regarding most important ideas of the ungraspable truth which is sadly slipping through our consciousness these days. You're changing the world by doing what you do, more people need to know this in depth, and the more in depth the better :D Don't worry about making it too long for us. Detailed overview prevents philosophical ideas to be distributed as simplified, half digested prophases to be commodified :)
Thank you so much for the kind comments. Your post is well appreciate and I am so happy that people are reading and absorbing this material. Best of luck on your dissertation - a great subject to write on!
Thank you for making this video; it was very informative and engaging. I had been struggling with understanding Levinas. I could not understand a single sentence in the book prior to watching this video. So thank you for a simple explanation of the book. I understood most part of it but wanted to ask what does "same" exactly mean and if/how is it different from the "I"?
Impressive and very helpful! I can't say I'm managing to follow everything though, but I probably just need to take more time to go through the text myself, and also learn more about the Husserlian and Heideggerian background.
Thank you for this. Just a little feedback as a listener: your rhetoric is fluid and engaging and...disrupted by the use of "right" that follows almost every sentence. Cheers.

"God and philosophy", a small text from Levinas, is a condensed version of his argument to help at the beginning.

Just beautiful
Thank you Mark, my prayers are answered through your lecture. Was having a hard times to understand Levinas.
Thanks a lot, you are awesome. May be choosing a slower pace of words makes its even more comprehensible
Thank you for going through the text with your valuable comments.
Excellent Mark!
Thank you for sharing!
thank you kindly
great video! helped me understand a lot!
this is fantastic!
Thank you. The video was very helpful :)
I thought he was the same until he said I was the other.
High-quality trolling! (Nice presentation, BTW.)
Levinas's is essentially arguing for the existence (phenomenological) of God here.
Nietzsche stopped philosophising af.

Guy didn’t half talk bollocks… but label it philosophy and the numbskulls will agree with everything he says..😂
Stop saying “right” after every sentence.
A little fetishy
