    I have watched 5 videos for this and you are the first to tell me the tool sizes. THANK YOU!

    Occasionally, I change my own oil as well. Your videos are wonderful.

    Thank you for the video with your straight forward spontaneous choice of words. I would have said the same things that you said. I'm trying to make a minimal mess and it appears to be difficult. I'm looking for a shut off valve to the filter housing specific to the car so that I minimize the mess. I need the tread/size count of the filter housing oil release nut if you have that information.

      Like a Fumoto style drain? Let me see if I have an old plug lying around.

      @ELDESTBuilds  2 роки тому

      I found the old filter plug. The threads size is huge, probably an inch or greater. I'll post a picture on the community tab tomorrow. I don't have anything big enough to gauge it with.

      @@ELDESTBuilds Thank you... well .. I'm just trying to put something in place of that nut that I can just open up and shut down.

    There is also another flap slightly more away from front which reveals a nut for bleeding oil - maybe get a little less oil on hands than removing the oil via the filter casing nut.

      Yes, the drain plug. I drain the filter for less spillage out of the filter housing.

    Good job . I dont even remove the little drain plug in the middle and I've never had a problem .

      I've been happy with valvoline 5w30 euro synthetic oil.

    I have a 19' Cooper S 4-door. Has a B48 so it should be the same layout. Just looking for a place i can do my own change, my community wont allow it in driveway.

    What about the brass ring, a mechanic left the brass ring off and I had a slow leak, I took it to the mini dealer and he explained to me the mechanic didn't replace the brass ring and that caused the slow leak! I will only go to the dealer for my oil changes since that time.

      It is included in the oil filter kit. It goes on the drain plug. It is covered in the video.

      How much did the oil change cost at Mini? $30 for oil, $20 filter and how much does mini charge for labor? Your mechanic messed up ...

    Nice vid. Question. Dealer swears to change oil once a year or every 10k. I think is extreme. What you recommend ?

    • @ELDESTBuilds
      @ELDESTBuilds  3 роки тому +2

      I use Mobile 1 synthetic. I change the oil and filter every 10k. Have had four cars over 200k and three cars over 150k with no mechanical failures. Same goes for the motorcycles.

      Good job, honest, this last oil change i didn't get to it till 12k. I checked the level a few times after 10k and it was the same. I tried to do a follow up video, but it wasna new go pro and I messed up the audio, so next time. I did manage to get the air filter change video done correctly.

    WTF??!!! Who designed that stupid, Inaccessible, and hard to reach oil filter? Bloody hell mate, an oil and filter change should be simple! BMW make everything so difficult..... It's as if they design the engine and don't give a crap about ease of access to every day maintenance things like oil change, filter change, spark plug change etc. Absolutely ridiculous engineering and the Germans are supposed to be the best? All I can say is "no wonder they lost the war"!! The proper British made Mini may have been pretty basic in design but you could do an oil and filter change in 10 minutes.
