Here's what some icons have to say about the book!!!
Ice-T: "Respect to Soren Baker for documenting the history of gangster rap in these pages. Some hate it. Some love it. But you can’t deny its brutal, hardcore honesty."
The D.O.C.: "History has so often been written by the victors, that you very rarely ever get the real story behind anything. So it’s really important to hear from the people that were there, which is exactly what Soren Baker shares in this book. He writes about it and he’s honest about it."
Xzibit: "Hip-hop changed the world. Gangster rap changed the narrative, and then changed the world again. Soren Baker has been a very integral part of documenting hip-hop on the West Coast for as long as I can remember. I don’t think anybody is more qualified to write this book."
Leslie “Big Lez” Segar: "Soren Baker has changed the perspective of gangster rap by putting his pen to paper. He has given hip-hop power, proven its potential, and made non-believers contemplate all of its possibilities. The truth in his writing leaves no stone unturned, something he's done again with The History of Gangster Rap. Soren doesn’t just champion hip-hop. He also reveals its flaws and its truths."

One of my favorite lines from looking at the Front Door is “and when you’re with your friends I glide to the side until the spotlight is mine and never sabotage a good time.” I think about that line every time I wanna cuss my wife out around her friends.
Funny, zonefour. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
In the early 90’s I was a teen. I got a sampler mixer and som Gemini turntables for like 600 bucks. I had to save for my part time job all summer to get it. My parents helped me to get Techique 1200’s the following summer since they was like 699 a pieces. I got one then eventually got the other. It was very expensive getting into producing or DJ in the 90’s as well! Large Pro has ties to North Carolina where I’m from. He cousin was a popular Dj back in the day. RIP Grady and much respect to Extra P and Soren for this interview. 👌🏾
Yeah, Mark Graves. Equipment used to be very expensive. We're glad you enjoyed the interview. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Extra P interviews never disappoint one of my fav producers. Salute from Chi town.
Much appreciated, DANTANA 773. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt, as always.
Yeah! That's a very under discussed aspect of early Sample-Based Hip-Hop in regards to how difficult it was not only to identify what equipment was being used but once identified the affordability.
I say all that to say you really had to want it bad to make records back then and I feel there's a direct correlation to the quality and timelessness of the music. Salute Xtra P for being one of those who really went all out to present us his music! 🙌🏾
Good points, Chadowrld, LLC. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Seen him a few times on the A train in the last few years before the pandemic. You’d be surprised how many artist you see on the train.
