Thank you, Nicola, for putting together these excellent videos. You're one of my favourite UA-camrs. Decades ago, my mum and I often flew between Britain and America. I was 7-ish and recall the airport in New Orleans was relatively small and nearly deserted when we arrived. I noticed a man in a dark suit and fedora sat in the middle distance. His appearance was old-fashioned for even back then and out-of-place. He had a nervous expression. I recall feeling anxious just looking at him. Though I didn't see him vanish, after a few moments of distraction, as I looked back, he was gone. It's as likely that he was just a bit eccentric and not a ghost. But it was a spooky moment for my young mind that stuck with me all these years.

That was interesting. Airports are strange, liminal places, and although not that old in themselves, they are old enough, have seen some serious incidents and of course, stand on land which has even more history. I think I heard of a ghost at Heathrow who walks on the runway, who is from before the airport was built. Of course, I can't remember now what the details were.

Excellent episode, Nicola! Living in New Jersey, growing up in Elizabeth, and my father and uncle having worked at Newark airport when it was little more than a handful of small sized hangers, I remember them both having the odd "spooky" story to tell of an event or events involving the supernatural.

Yay! Love it when you have stories to tell us :) I always look forward to them!
I have my own story from Manchester Airport -- not paranormal, but a crazy coincidence. First of all, it's important to know that I'm from a small town in Northern Ontario, Canada and there aren't a lot of people who travel abroad, except occasionally to warmer climates or to the US. I had just finished a five week journey through England and Wales, and was at the Manchester Airport at about 4:30 in the morning, walking to my gate to fly home through a sparsely populated hallway. As I was walking, still half-asleep, a woman passed me going in the other direction and I thought she looked an awful lot like a former teacher I had back in middle school. I kind of just shook my head and kept walking. About a month later, back home, I was running errands when I saw my former teacher in a parking lot and went over to say hello and tell her the funny story about seeing someone who looked like her at the airport and -- you guessed it --- it WAS her! So strange to see someone from a small town for the first time in about a decade, in a nearly-empty airport, thousands of kilometers away on another continent!

That's awesome because I had the same experience in Florida. I'm from England and back in 2004 I and my brother went to the Hard Rock Cafe 🎸 First thing I saw was the bar but we both went passed and I seen someone who looked familiar to a barman back at home. Yep it was exactly the same Barman from a local pub who left I think in 1996 ? I mean that's bonkers 🤣

I was on a cross-country (USA) trip with my parents over 20 years ago. In the Summer of 1992, my husband & I got off of a train in Florence, Italy & walked to the main front area of the station. Who was there? My fellow student, from university, who had just happened to be in the same station, at the same time! We were all from the USA, so the coincidence was remarkable. She reminds of this serendipitous encounter, every now & then. It was surprising.

@@ghostcasebook1266 I wonder if the area is built upon Hawaiian ruins? Another odd event happened- I encountered an old woman in white, walking with a stick in her hand, on the side of the road. Puzzled and concerned, I pulled over and asked if she needed to go somewhere. I was respectful, just worried about her being struck. She said yes and got in. A few moments later, I asked where she was going and no answer. I looked in the back to see it empty. I later discovered I had encountered Madame Pele and did the right thing by stopping! 😱

There's a probable reason for self-flushing toilets - we have them in Auckland Airport and some of the mall bathrooms too, and they are triggered by a sensor on the wall when you get up to leave the stall. Sometimes the sensors play up and trigger for no apparent reason. The maintenance plumbers hate them....

You have certainly worked extremely hard pulling this beauty together, thank you.
I have heard a couple of interesting aircraft hauntings.
A Short Stirling heavy bomber from World War Two at an aircraft museum was investigated because sounds had been heard in the cockpit.
The sounds were recorded by a team and it was concluded that the sounds were that of the bombers crew performing their pre flight checks.
How cool is that, poor chaps are experiencing the pre flight fear of an up coming mission for eternity.

    • @Mistydazzle
      @Mistydazzle 11 місяців тому

Good ol' DIA! That freaky, killer blue stallion, with red glowing eyes, just needs to go! I do know that its sprawling location is to do with anticipated growth. Like London Heathrow Terminal 5, DIA is laid out on a series of outgoing concourse stations, in a sort of horizontal, ladder rung like fashion. There is the ability to add more "rungs" further out to accomodate airport expansion. Of course, everything is interconnected underground - a good thing in a place with some possibly debilitating weather - there is even tornado shelter, which has been used when one lurks close by! It was also interesting that Denver's previous airport, Stapleton, had a runway over the Interstate (70), back in the day. It was right in the middle of the city, with no room for expansion! I always remember seeing the news reports, as a kid, when that airport got loads of snow. Now, that old site has been redeveloped for housing and business, with the old control tower left to commemorate its previous life.

Another lovely episode. I personally have seen those Romans but not in Manchester. Many years ago I went to Hadrian’s wall. It was just me in a field with a lot of sheep. Great video, as always! I had a similar experience to what you had in Honolulu. For me it was in Charles de Gaulle. I just heard spike heel shoes walk by my stall toward the back, in an otherwise-empty bathroom, then nothing. No stall door, no TP, nada. Seemed really odd, so when I exited the stall, I looked - all stalls were empty. Although there was no doubt another bathroom with cement/linoleum flooring stacked upstairs, the sound I heard was sharp and echo-y, not the slightly muffled, non-echo-y sound I would expect to hear if it were upstairs. (Used to live in a dorm set up like that - I know what it should sound like.) No clue.

The only explanation I can give maybe is that they sat on top of the toilet seat and brought their knees up into a ball perhaps but even then, I think I’d have heard the movements right? The mechanics don't like to work in them after dark, and talk of hearing voices, and doors opening and closing by themselves. I've been pushed out of one of the old design offices there (someone clearly doesn't think women have any business airside - or maybe he's still working on top secret aircraft designs...). One day, when I was walking through our engine workshop, I saw a tall, dark-haired man in a brownish boiler suit and cap coming towards me. I just thought he must be someone new, so I said 'good morning' to him with a cheery smile. As he reached within ten feet of me, he simply disappeared.

There seem to be a few stories about ghosts on stairs, and I have three; one from my father when he was in the army in WW2, one from my childhood and one as an adult. And I remember your experience at the Tower was on the stairs, as well. In your experience, is there a preponderance of ghosts on stairs?

From what I gather, some ghosts are seen without legs because of floor level changes. With regards to staircases, some believe the spirits are between worlds, just like floors, but I don’t know about that. Some stately homes will install reclaimed stair cases that again cause ghosts to look like they are not on the earthly steps themselves that they used to walk up. But these are just things I have read about. I’m sure there may be viewers here with more ideas 👻🙋‍♀️🙏

@@ghostcasebook1266 yes, my Dad's experience of being billeted in an old mansion was like that. The ghost walked down the stairs at night. My Dad was the officer and the men were billeted in another room. He was concerned bc they were getting frightened - and that's the last thing you want! He thought one of the men was tricking them and determined to put a stop to the joke. He had tried confronting the night walker, but there was never anyone there. So, he put talcum powder on the stairs to try and catch the joker. He waited up and listened. He counted 13 footsteps down, but there were only 12 stairs. Next morning, no powder had been touched. He asked at the pub and was tod that the staircase had been replaced years ago as part of repairs. It used to have 13 steps. Of course, now I can't remember where this old house was.....and Dad is long gone. How I wish I'd listened more closely to him. The bathroom stalls (cubicles) that you described in your experience in Hawaii are normal here in America. But it’s definitely not normal to hear someone go into a stall and not be able to see their feet!!!
I traveled to Poland a few years ago and changed planes in Frankfurt airport. I used the bathroom in Frankfurt and it surprised me that the doors to the stalls were full length doors and it bothered me because I didn’t know which ones were occupied and which weren’t. Thankfully I didn’t have any paranormal experiences though!
    Thanks for another great video!

Thank you kindly. Yes, London Gatwick has full length doors and I know what you mean about not being able to tell if they are occupied. The UK airports usually have the sensor type flush where you just wave your hand past it but these loos in Honolulu were manual flush. I still don’t know what that was in Honolulu airport tbh! 🙋‍♀️👻🙏✈️

my wife, an american, asked at the start 'how can airports be haunted? I immediately pointed out the crashes at newark and the fact that many British airfields were RAF in the war so when you covered these, i looked brilliant.

No ghost stories about airports, although back in the seventies, I was on what would be my second to last ever flight from Ontario to Los Vegas and we encountered turbulence again and again. I thought I was going to become a ghost! Thank you for a bang up job on hauntings at airports -- many of which I have never before heard. The one about the 14 year old boy was quite sad. At 14, you think you are grown-up, but you still think like a child.

Turbulence is awful. I flew to Tokyo in 2008 and the turbulence was so awful, an overhead locker opened and a big bag of duty free spirits fell out and broke a little boy’s arm. It was a ‘is there a doctor on board?’ moment and the poor lad was taken down to the crew quarters. Easily one of the worse flights I have been on! And they lost my luggage and I had no belongings for 2 days! ✈️😞👻

Next time you visit Hawaii try to visit Kalaupapa Molokai. It's an old leper colony from the early part of the 20th century and now a National Park with it's original buildings and lay out. I know that something like that doesn't sound inviting but the beauty there is real breathtaking and there are some great stories about a few of the people forced to live out their lives at this isolated beach colony and I believe there is even a haunting linked to the places as well, I do remember it has an cemetery for the people that ended their days upon the Island. Aloha.
