It's hyperbole people, It's not meant to be taken literally! Jane found it sweet, Ellen found it sweet, All the guys found it possessive... Proof, England has the least romantic men on earth!
The 'werebaby' was actually a painting of Tognina Gonsalvus (by paintress Lavinia Fontana). Her father was Petrus Gonsalvus, who lived around 1600 and was the first documented case of hypertrichiosis, also known as 'werewolf syndrome'. She - like her father - was part of the royal Court of Henry II of France. On the court they were not known as 'wolf people' but as 'monkey people'. Their home was part of the forest of Fontainebleau as Henry II thought it would be closer to their "natural habitat". Nontheless they dressed in expensive clothes and attented events at the Court. *smartass mode off*
Every time there is a jump scare, Mike is unfazed! Literally no reaction, except laughing after the fact. I'm watching on a little UA-cam screen, in the middle of the day with all the lights on, and I'm having heart attacks.
On some of them Mike was fazed, just at a subtle level like when stops talking and immediately shuts his mouth. That is still a shock just he knows/does shows it in a less obvious way.
I know I'm years late to the party but Mike's reaction to the ring at 6:34 makes me oddly emotional. If I wasn't subscribed already, that moment would have prompted me to do so. Most people react by talking about how "smooth" a proposal it was or describe it as "cute" when in reality it's... really not. Having Mike acknowledge that means a lot to me, as small a thing as it is.
Seeing a werewolf devour a beloved character from q children's story: Jane and Andy: "Oh, God that's horrible!!" Mike: "Awesome" I'm a little scared for Mike at the moment
"That's not cute, that's weird and possessive!" Man, I love Mike. He might not have the soundest ideas when it comes to stealth and he seems to lack survival instincts but he knows how to spot the signs of an unhealthy relationship.
The scary let's plays are my favorite!!! Between Mike's steely resolve, Jane's witty quips and Andy's screaming, I am successfully entertained! Love you guys!
Uh, the shotgun is hardly the book monster's "one weakness". It can be seriously damaged with dyslexia, and utterly obliterated with the liberal application of illiteracy.
OutsideXbox host reactions to a drawing of a wolf eating and drinking a girls blood: Andy: Arrgghh!!! Jane: Arrgghh!!! Mike: That's awesome..... Just a tad concerning :S
I love watching these types of Oxbox vids. I must watch them twice so I can see the footage then re-watch just to watch Mike Andy and Jane's reactions.
7:20 Andy just immediately identifies Jan van Eyck without even trying. As an (actual real-life degree-holding) art historian, I must say I am so proud of you Andy, well done! I feel as though we are kindred spirits :)
I know I'm ridiculously late to the party, but when those flamingo-looking things appeared in the painting my first thought was Luke in those ridiculous pink shades saying "F.L.A.M.I.N.G.Os never say die"
I've watched this video multiple times, and then seen the moment revisited in the 'what happens next?' video, but "AAAH BOOK MONSTER!" cracks me up every time.
This game is kinda love hate for me because I thing the concept of using art and how it changes and all, like with the dog and Red Riding Hood pictures, is really clever and cool too. On the other hand I get really anxious and nervous when things are creepy so I can barely watch the video. The commentary really helped ,though.
Andy is frightened Jane gets scared by Andy's screams My champ Mike doesn't move a muscle Anyway great video as always! I love the painting mechanic and how the game tells you all the details of this creepy "human flesh painter" progressively
5:41 That looks like Ghostface from Scream about to kill Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. 'There can only be ONE horror movie villain with a name that consists of a noun and the word face together.' XD
I had to turn on the light just for this video, even with all your comments and laughter. Now I need to burn all the paintings, pictures and posters in my flat if I want to sleep ever again.
To a certain extent, alcohol does steady your hands, in Olympic archery events, a small amount of alcohol is considered a performance enhancing drug, as it calms your nerves and allows you to shoot better.
My favorite part of this game is the lack of enemies. No combat or hiding mechanic to deal with. It's entirely about atmosphere and creepy shit. Alot more "scary" to me when the it's all environmental and psychological. Adding enemies makes a game less about a good scare, and more about not dying. It CAN be done well, like Silent Hill. But there's a thin, but obvious line between horror and survival horror.
'Wheelchair come too?' I am now awaiting a sequel where you play as a plucky but creepy wheelchair trying to spook foolish ghost hunters around a haunted house.
Andy clearly favours the walk backwards approach to horror, rather than turning around. Even when things have been thrown at him from behind. Fearless, or clueless?
Has Mike ever been scared a day in his life? Surprised even? I'm starting to think that the videos may be edited to cut out all the parts where mike so much as flinches
Every time at 6:47 when he says "Look at that", I think he's talking about the electrical hazard of the broken lamp. Edit: Now I realize it's just some odd reflections off the lamp.
Now that the game is complete you guys need to play the rest of it. This is hilarious, and Andy's reactions are hilarious, much funnier than any of the reaction gamers like Pewdiepie.
I think it would be hilarious to have Andy and Dave from Playstation Access play a horror game together. Though you might need Mike and/or Rob to make sure they don't just hide in a corner the entire time...
"That's not cute - that's weird and possessive!"
Mike knows what's up.
Yes it is! Thanks, Mike

No shit? Cool
I really appreciate this. It saves me having to look it up-probably unsuccessfully.
See's pictures of child being murdered by wolf.
Jane: Bemused Horror.
Andy: Bemused Horror
Mike: "This is awesome!!"
Every time there is a jump scare, Mike is unfazed! Literally no reaction, except laughing after the fact. I'm watching on a little UA-cam screen, in the middle of the day with all the lights on, and I'm having heart attacks.
+Cody Welter Seriously. And he's like that with every horror game they do. The utterly unshakeable Mike Channell.
+TheDoubleHELO Unshakeable? Mate was cowering from Cyber Jane in NBA 2k15... Though, to his credit, that was pretty scuurrrrrry X-(
+Cody Welter I'm starting to think he needs some serious glasses. There is no reasonable explanation to this other than him being blind or an autobot.
or the game not being that scary like it isnt
On some of them Mike was fazed, just at a subtle level like when stops talking and immediately shuts his mouth. That is still a shock just he knows/does shows it in a less obvious way.

Andy: I didn't mean it.
Jane: Sorry!
Mike: DO IT AGAIN.
"Why are they so creepy? They're just chairs with wheels!"
Jane Douglas, 2015.
+Jon Baxter That's the creepiest thing you can do to a chair!
6:34 Thank you Mike, I have seen so many people play this and either say it's sweet or cheesy but all I can think of is how disturbing it is.
Crystal Williams-Brown To me it sounded like something Sasori from Naruto would say
Right? (I know I'm years late to the party) Mike's comment made me really happy, and is actually reason I subscribed, strange as that may sound.
(Drawing of 6 year old girl being ripped apart by a wolf) Jane and Andy:OH MY GOD
Mike:that's awesome
Clearly he's a fan of the original brothers Grim version
Yeah. I thought the art was awesome as well.
I played this game on the PC. The bearded baby painting also creeped me out! - Ian
+Eurogamer HI IAN!
+Eurogamer Don't cross the streams! We've only just gotten over the last videogame journalism wars.
+Eurogamer HAAAIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRYYYY BAAAAAAAAAABY!! ...In the murder basement.
me too
I think you mean werebaby
*Andy tries to decrypt a numerical lock*
Mike: 666
Jane:111
An accurate display of where each of their mental states are at.
"OH MY GOD A BOOK MONSTER" I will never forget this Andy... NEVER!!!
Now i check my bookshelf just to check Andy isn't there watching me.
11:46 - "Dripping Flamingos" is going on my list of best band names.
"Harry Potter Forehead" ..."Draw Me Like One Of Your Dead Girls"
GOLD !!!
I come back to this video at least once a year to see Book Monster in all its glory.
at 12:55 mike seems to care more about the quality of the painting than the fact that the house is f**king haunted
I laughed so hard when mike said "that's not cute, that's weird and possessive"
''That's awesome!'' - Mike, regarding a crude drawing of a wolf decapitating a small child
"Harry Potters forehead" that killed me!
Seeing a werewolf devour a beloved character from q children's story:
Jane and Andy: "Oh, God that's horrible!!"
Mike: "Awesome"
I'm a little scared for Mike at the moment
Scared *for* Mike or scared *of* Mike?
A monster singing Drunk in Love would be truly horrific.
"That's not cute, that's weird and possessive!"
Man, I love Mike. He might not have the soundest ideas when it comes to stealth and he seems to lack survival instincts but he knows how to spot the signs of an unhealthy relationship.
Andy's scream when he fell down the trap door was amazing!
I'm sure Mike was "Janeuinely" scared.
YES! 22 minutes of gameplay!!!! we need more "let's play" videos please!
The scary let's plays are my favorite!!! Between Mike's steely resolve, Jane's witty quips and Andy's screaming, I am successfully entertained! Love you guys!
Uh, the shotgun is hardly the book monster's "one weakness". It can be seriously damaged with dyslexia, and utterly obliterated with the liberal application of illiteracy.
notice how Mike never flinched during the jump scares.... Nerves of steel that one.
22 minute OXbox video? Yes please.
Microsoft is catching up to PC gaming by making the XB One controllers as loud as mechanical keyboards.
OutsideXbox host reactions to a drawing of a wolf eating and drinking a girls blood:
Andy: Arrgghh!!!
Jane: Arrgghh!!!
Mike: That's awesome.....
Just a tad concerning :S
*looking at red riding hood pictures*
Andy and Jane: oh my days that's horrible
Mike:that's awesome!
It's okay guys, Mike is here to sing us copyrighted songs by Beyoncé. Everything will be just fine...
that bit cracked me up way too much!
I know I'm ridiculously late to the party, but when those flamingo-looking things appeared in the painting my first thought was Luke in those ridiculous pink shades saying "F.L.A.M.I.N.G.Os never say die"
Can't believe how calm you guys are.. I almost died playing that game
I'll have you know I played this game and only shat my pants 16 times.
"Oh all the blacks gone.."
*heads towards the door*
"I mean, maybe give it a minute."
I love Jane so much omfg.
PLEASE FINISH PLAYING THIS GAME! as i am too afraid to play it myself, but i want to know how it ends. And of course anything to see Andy being scared
I am going to give it a try soon. :D It is the type of horror I like.
Play it it has three endings in the base game and three in the DLC I'd love to see how you end it
each layer of the painting sounds like one of my phantom pain soldiers. "exploding Wolf" was a personal favourite.
I've watched this video multiple times, and then seen the moment revisited in the 'what happens next?' video, but "AAAH BOOK MONSTER!" cracks me up every time.
10:35 Talk about a painting coming to life.
It was nice to see the 3 of you building courage together... specially Jane with the jump scares
LOL Mike! After 19mins of jump scared and Andy & Jane pissing their pants playing his reaction was "Finally, a ghost"
Andy's controls is the best thing. You see the real terror behind the movements.
The last horror game I saw you guys play was Slender the Arrival with Andy on the controls as well. I demand more scary games with ANDY!
"AAAH! Book monster!" -my favorite Andy Farrant quote
Anyone thought of the Young ones upon seeing that black bath? "What were you planning to do, photosynthesize?" RIP Rik Mayall
This game is kinda love hate for me because I thing the concept of using art and how it changes and all, like with the dog and Red Riding Hood pictures, is really clever and cool too. On the other hand I get really anxious and nervous when things are creepy so I can barely watch the video. The commentary really helped ,though.
Andy's just playing a tune on the Piano, lid shuts abruptly: Everyone's a critic, even pianos nowadays
Andy is frightened
Jane gets scared by Andy's screams
My champ Mike doesn't move a muscle
Anyway great video as always! I love the painting mechanic and how the game tells you all the details of this creepy "human flesh painter" progressively
At 6:38 the words above the door are referring to Harambe
Andy: is there a shotgun?
mike: just end it all!
Andy and Jane: yes, to shoot the book monster with
...
Still one of my all-time favourite OX videos
Mike just grinned sorta sadistically the whole way through
The video buffered at 4:58, after hyping up "What's on the painting?" then right before it was revealed. Classic horror..
mikes evil laugh in 8:50 was the scariest
Wanted to nope the hell out of this video but your reactions and commentary is stellar!
13:39 Sounds like the Riddler speaking
15:35 Mikes grin obviously shows that he is the killer
Jane and Andy yell in fear, Mike just smiles
Came back here to verify Andy's taunting of Ellen. "I didn't get scared" indeed, sir.
I proper jumped every time Andy shouted ahhh lol
Well now I've got my new ring tone: "the phone is ringing, the phone is ringing, the phone is ringing". Cheers Jane!
Two different strategies for guessing combinations:
Mike- Understands the game setting potential devil influence.
Jane- 111!
"It was fine, it was just a torso" I see Jane's inner serial killer shines in these situations
Janes face at 12:53 is priceless
Poor Andy...Playing a horror game with the Sith Lady and her apprentice. Was nice knowing you.
For some reason Andy being scared playing is adorable lol me on the other hand a video of my face playing a scary game would NOT be cute lol
FLAMINGOS never say die!
5:41 That looks like Ghostface from Scream about to kill Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre. 'There can only be ONE horror movie villain with a name that consists of a noun and the word face together.' XD
were-baby is the creepiest...Thanks for the long game play.
I had to turn on the light just for this video, even with all your comments and laughter. Now I need to burn all the paintings, pictures and posters in my flat if I want to sleep ever again.
yay for more couch let's plays with all three of you. it really shows mike's nonchalance towards conventional jump scares.
3:23 you're a rockstar
Within the first five seconds of the game, a derpy face appears on canvas. Things are about to get trippy
Save cat and demon dog, coming to Cartoon Network!
To a certain extent, alcohol does steady your hands, in Olympic archery events, a small amount of alcohol is considered a performance enhancing drug, as it calms your nerves and allows you to shoot better.
At 8:10 - Look at the back of the painting.
19:07 They're yelling about a torso and he's just sitting there nodding and smiling haha.
"Spookenings" is now my new favorite word
*jane and Andy freaking out about bloody child murder by wolf* Meanwhile Mike is appreciating the artwork.......
Andy has the jitteriness of a startled cat.
It's really hard to get spooked when you have friends over. Things become funny as hell.
Chairs with wheels are the scariest thing!! Cuz now I'm sitting and you expect me to bloody move?!?!
this game very much makes me think of The Room, a mobile game trilogy. not murder related, but very much the same kind of surreal puzzle solving
16:46 Now that's what I call a bloodbath
Are they playing as Geralt? Seriously they are a man who can light candles with his mind.
'Wheelchair come too?'
I am now awaiting a sequel where you play as a plucky but creepy wheelchair trying to spook foolish ghost hunters around a haunted house.
Andy clearly favours the walk backwards approach to horror, rather than turning around. Even when things have been thrown at him from behind. Fearless, or clueless?
I really hope you guys record the rest of this. I'm loving your reactions even if this scares the crap outta me.
The clickety-clackety of the controller.... oh so satisfying.
Has Mike ever been scared a day in his life? Surprised even? I'm starting to think that the videos may be edited to cut out all the parts where mike so much as flinches
Every time at 6:47 when he says "Look at that", I think he's talking about the electrical hazard of the broken lamp.

Now that the game is complete you guys need to play the rest of it. This is hilarious, and Andy's reactions are hilarious, much funnier than any of the reaction gamers like Pewdiepie.
I love watching you guys play horror games and freak out.
Which is to say: I love watching you guys play horror games.
I think it would be hilarious to have Andy and Dave from Playstation Access play a horror game together. Though you might need Mike and/or Rob to make sure they don't just hide in a corner the entire time...
Mike's laugh is the best 8:50
