It's good to see you back Huw. One thing I did notice when relistening to these soundtracks recently was not only the change in direction, but in the case of the remasters, the removal of some direct music by other parties - Incubus' work on Halo 2 is just outright removed in the remake. The tracks that replace them, while good enough, miss the feeling.
I was so so gutted when I realised you couldn't have both nice graffix and the old music! There is a mod on PC that lets you skirt that letigious nonsense, but I know it keeps breaking with every game update 😭
@@HuwRees I gave up and just play it with the original track and graphics as, really, it loses some of the charm in the remaster anyway. It's a real shame they didn't relicense the music. It was literally written for the damn games. Same with Breaking Benjamin's bespoke track, and the Hoobastank license.
Love your video, and your arrangement, but man I have to thoroughly disagree with you on halo 4/5s soundtrack. I think the work that kazuma and neil did was fantastic. My personal gripe is that you chose some of Marty’s strongest pieces and honestly some of kazuma/ Neil’s weaker pieces. In my opinion, not a fair comparison. Still. Great stuff!
Love your video man… though I gotta disagree. OG Halo’s music is iconic but 4 and 5 still have some absolute bangers. Scavengers, the Trials, 117, Atonement, Nemesis, Warrior world…
Good video man. Excellent work. Hopefully this hits the algorithm and Marty sees it. He’s pretty active on here.

@@TETRINO I still rock out to them in the car sometimes 😂
And who can forget John Mayer's cheeky incognito lounge guitar track during the credits!
Awesome!!!!
This is what I’m saying! Halo is hardly Halo without Marty, and 343 made a large mistake with firing him

I played through the entirety of both! 5 is so much better than 4, but still doesn't come close to the original, or Infinite's, imo!

Maybe I'm being a bit harsh on 5, but still, I feel it could belong in any other game. Just not halo!
@ I think you’re right, OG halo does have a particular sound to it, a vibe. But maybe it’s rose tinted glasses, who knows.
