He is right about the high rents charged by homeless hostels. That means that when homeless people get put into a hostel they cannot afford to work.

Today, people are allegedly obsessed with health and safety, so is it safe, and healthy to sleep on the cold dangerous streets of the UK?

I used to hate people like this when I was homeless. TV students wanting to make a name for themselfs and nothing to do with homeless. Try finding this girl doing anything for the homeless

Hi Robert, thank you for your comment. This piece was nothing at all to do with ‘Making a name for ourselves’. This video was used for a school service, which motivated a multi-hundred pound total donation from students which was sent to local shelters... For the production of this we spoke to roughly 15-20 homeless people, offering food & hot drinks too. We tried to help them in any way we could, and agreeing to be a part of this film was in no way pressured upon them... We did this so that we ourselves could gain a greater insight into homelessness in Birmingham, then share just a handful of the stories that we heard... I’m very sorry to hear that you have been offended by other “TV Students” in your past, we are aware of this stereotype and tried our best to avoid this. Again, ‘making a name’ was not our intention.
I’d be more than happy to discuss this further with you via email; sayhello@wade-media.co.uk

John Tram A lot of the reasons behind commissioning this piece all come back to showing what it’s really like for people living on the streets, reminding us that there’s complex reasons behind why they got there... If you were to put yourself in their shoes, you would have a breaking point too. If you would like to discuss this further, you are more than welcome to email me on cormac@wade-media.co.uk ~Regards, Cormac Wade - WadeMedia Director.

I was homeless for years in my twenties. Everyone I knew were either drinkers or drug users or both, like me. It shouldn't make a difference if you're on drugs or Not, people need help regardless.
