- Recently i celebrated my one year anniversary in Genshin Impact and decided to reflect on my past mistake that I did as a begginer player.

I feel like, although we've probably all done dumb decisions in the early game, learning from them and becoming better is what makes you feel like you're actually playing the game. Could you imagine, if you started playing Genshin with all the characters you wanted, all built to perfection, would you be enjoying playing the game the same way? I think that, even though it can be very grindy, farming resources for your favourite character and then actually trying them out is the most enjoyable part of the process, in my opinion.
You know what, you are absolutely right! It wouldn't feel rewarding in any way if we had everything we wanted from the beginning! And learning from your mistakes is the best way of growing and just getting better ❤️

also finally someone who also got confused with the artifact domain thing i was like; "huhhh how are we supposed to get all these other artifacts i only see the flower" 😂

Honestly there is nothing more dudsspointing about this game then hitting ar 60 😅

Good advice. As much as I love big numbers and calculations, I prefer learning how to optimally use the characters I like rather than strictly follow meta for an auto-win button. (I always bring Qiqi to Spiral Abyss). Thankfully there are lots of helpful guides and tools from the community, and all characters work with the right investment and team comp.

When I first started playing I was fully aware of the rewards for adventure ranks but I didn't know you had to do the domain to unlock certain ones, so for months I was a low rank and when I finally figured it out I got to rank 42 💀💀💀

Personally, I was watching videos on genshin impact (like Tuonto's, Dish's or Atsu's) before I could download genshin. So I never made a ''big mistake'' in genshin 😂
I have only one regret and that is to have started using my resin only from level 45. My characters were therefore around levels 50-60 and I had trouble advancing in the game 🥲 Besides, I had less resin to farm artifacts for a while 🤷🏻♀️

when i first found out artifacts, I actually equiped them based off of color scheme and sets...
I gave my DPS Itto (i got him rly early game so i was still VERY new)
a hydro flower thingie that gave him hydro damage

Now that i am kinda in the endgame(but not really), i look back to the time i was full of doubts and was a little newbie, and see the path i took and all the things i did, and it is indeed the journey of learning and going along w/ the game that i think makes the game be so fun. omg i remember when i first started playing, i would just farm the viridecent domain not knowing it was for anemo characters and just put those artifacts on all of my characters. and then i saw my characters were doing no dmg so i asked random players to help me and they were very scared of my characters..... i then started looking at guides. now my characters are amazing. (i as like ar 43 r smthg...) i also saw ppl talking abt meta and it really annoys me. i ONLY get characters tht i like lore wise. even if i dont like their playstyle. like Wanderer, albedo and qiqi. i LOVEE qiqi smm. i also love lore and i mainly play for lore and i agree, the genshin community wants the game to be things tht its not. enjoy the game for the game :) anyways, nice video some of these were relatable lol and happy 1 yr of playing genshin anniversity

I just wanna add in. Meta matters. It matters in the sense that the information is useful. Like self damage, and how to protect yourself from it. If not for meta, I wouldn’t have known the starter characters are secretly good when used correctly.
Truuu! After playing for 1 year now (started in 28 jan) i realized people focus too way much on spiral abyss. I remember 1 year ago i had to farm primogems for raiden bcuz people keep saying shes one of the best unit. So when i lost the 5050 after reaching soft pity, i had to force myself to farm primogems till i reach 84 pity. I basically 100% almost all regions bcuz of raiden. but after 3 months of playing her i benched her. Fast forward one year later and shes basically a hyperbloom trigger for my team, and even then replaceable by kuki, a 4star unit. Nowadays i consider characters i want if i would use them often, with most of them being support since they're flexible, like yelan and kazuzu. They're best in both exploring in overworld and doing spiral abyss.
Yes, I agree with everything you said so much! I had a similar experience with Ayaka. I pulled her cause I knew she is a meta unit and now I haven't played with her for months, cause I realized I like other characters so much more!
And farming primogems is such a pain 😭

Okay okay i just want to say that Kazuha's normal attack matters, because plunge damage that he deals with Chihayaburu (E) conciders as plunge attack damage (normal attack variation) so if you lvl E you want to lvl normals as well 😅

I remember joining this game due to hu Tao, Barbara and Yae miko. I liked Barbara due to an instagram edit and that was her summer skin one and i just like games with magic/superpowers in general, I was kind of dissatisfied that her skin wasn’t actually her normal outfit. I started downloading Genshin once I saw a Yae miko edit and edited her her aesthetic is just so pretty and I liked her weapon. Hu Tao is the main reason along with Yae, because I love her character design its so gothic-ish. But this game is just a pure grinding machine which stresses ur mental health and makes u distracted but it is chill if you want characters for aesthetics only. But it is hard to get them
Marvel future rev reminds me of it too due to it being a rpg game I used to play marvel future rev, injustice 2, and mortal kombat.
That's unfortunately so true! Genshin is based of FOMO and low key addiction, so it's hard to enjoy it if you are getting stressed over it!
But I think it's possible to find balance in it, as you said, you had all these characters that made you play the game in the first place, which I think is already a great motivation! I just wish genshin didn't have that weird daily log in system

i honestly think theres something a player should also do at the beggining, when you unlock co-op, dont worry about it and when someone wants to join their gonna help you! also do all your archon quests because it gives you primos and the new update gives limited wishes if you complete them too! and do story quests because they give lots of primos.

This is really late but I never knew how to wish and I would change my main character over and over making new accounts thinks “why am I not given them” and I thought I wasn’t playing right
Enjoyed the video. When I started I didn't know what leylines were for lol, wasnt til late that I started doing them. but those lvl 20 Noelle and Xinyan kill me lol. I just love playing games with my brain switched off, Noelle is so fun for this, so I lvl 90 Double Crowned, got BP twice for R2 Serpent Spine, I just love my maid.

As a DPS Barbara main, that level 20 Barbara hurt
Before i started consuming genshin content on UA-cam i had already played for like 2 months. I had no idea about so many things like how even atk works or crit rate, crit dmg, artifacts, em, dmg bonuses. Biggest frustration i had was how to actually know the damages number that pops up
I can relate to that a bit, the mechanics of characters are really easy to miss out in my opinion, especially understanding more complicated that's like crit and em 🥺
I used to think giving a character a traveling doctor 2 piece set would make them a healer so I gave to bennett and thought he healed because of the set not because he has healing abilities in his kit 😭
I accidentally stumbled upon meta characters. I C6'd Sucrose in the first month I started playing and I was so mad because I didn't care for her. (I still don't use her. Or Bennett. But I use Fischl and Xingqiu a lot now that I learned how to build them.)
I pull characters I want (when I just started, I obsessively wanted Ayaka so I didn't stop until I got her. I was doing Inazuma Archin Quest so I wanted heeeer.). I was also in the mind of "collecting as much as possible". For the past few months, I have been mostly investing in characters I already have and pulling on event banner of the character I really want. I have to thank your series where you perfect your account to give me inspiration!!!
Are you gonna play honkai star rail when it comes out?
I don't really like the combat style that it offers, but I'm definitely down to at least trying it out 😁

Speaking of talents , u do realize kazuha’s skill plunge multipliers are based on his normal attack talent not his skill so if u want higher plunge from his skill u do need to level his normal attack as well 😂

Something like yea, fishl, nahida/dendro mc and one flex spot (for example zhongli for the shield)
But I would recommend checking out build guides from other people. For example ZyOx, he explains it really well in his video!

I started playing in the Shadow Amidst Snowstorms Albedo event in 2.3, and I couldn't complete the event at the time because my computer was trash so I completely missed one of the coolest cutscenes (the fight scene with Albedo), and I also missed out on Cinnabar Spindle, and I missed out on Ningguang's outfit for the same reason, my computer was just such a potato that I struggled hard to complete the objectives. I fed the Dark Iron Sword and it's so annoying because there's only one copy you can get and I'm such a completionist so it really bothers me.
I'd say my biggest regret though is not joining the game sooner. I had heard of it, but didn't join and it just annoys me because I missed out on a lot of events, especially a lot of events that are really important for the lore.
Oh the events that are part of the lore are actually so annoying to me, because if you weren't there to play them, you will never see them again. To me it makes no sense why an actually important part of the story was locked behid a limited time event. I'm glad they are trying to avoid doing that nowadays, because it can really make people feel bad about something they had no control over.
I also missed out on these events, so I totally feel your pain 😢

i played many gacha type games, so i was no stranger to the artifact system or the fragile resin or the skill set limitations. and also i like to play games for fun, so i dont follow the meta,(i main Yoimiya and rosaria as dps, so .......) i enjoy it as i go along and pull for characters not expecting anything (mostly)

I had people carried me in artifact domains a few times but they all left the domain once we finished killing the mobs.
I DIDN'T KNOW THAT YOU CLAIM THE BOUNTIES ON THE TREE AFTER CLEARING DOMAIN. I just left the domain with them😭 That's why I never really understood why you farm domains when you get like, nothing. (later I realised my mistake after watching people farming artifacts on UA-cam💀)

When you do the Sumeru interlude chapter act 3, the one right after Sumeru archon quests, you are able to change the wanderer's name to symbolically help him start a new life! ❤️

I literally thought this was like a fvcking game where you can unlock characters with just in game currencies ( technically is ) BUT I NEVER KNEW WHAT A GACHA GAME WAS SO I WAS LEFT WIYH CONFUSION wishing on the standard banner and the event one and thinking they had the same pity
Oh no that is so bad 😭 but then again, I don't think it's that clear when you first start playing, how the wishing system works and what it means. Also the game is not advertised as a gatchq game, but as an adventure so 🙄

i usually build someone like as soon as i get them bc they become my main, right now ive actually managed to stick to xinyan (( my fav character

i always grind 4 star artifacts and ascension materials at ar 25 and above with help of others because its so hard for me to do ascension quests and do open world stuff so i end up wasting fragile resinss 😞😞 any tips ? hehe
Oh I definitely wouldn't use fragile resin!!! Ascension quests can be very hard to do early game, but using fragile is a really bad idea. If anything, look at the talents and weapons that you are using, are they fully upgraded?

For my dream and current characters, i only need to farm 2 domains for all of their artifacts. Its a coincidence of course - but it's so much easier. Of course I want other characters a lot like Yelan or Nahida, but I'm saving for my dream characters and for now, ONLY them. Once I've got them all built - then I'll focus on getting the others
That's the best approach I think, to get your dream characters first and then focus on others! ❤️

my only problem as a beginner rn is yea upgrading talents, its an incredibly tedious job that doesn’t really give much so you have to spend so much time farming the books and whatnot💀, itll be good if they could add an auto run so i can go waste my time farming other mats instead

You can get pretty discouraged, when you hear that a character you may like is "pretty bad".
Although in the end every character is pretty viable. Especially since it's not a competitive game.
I used Dori for quite a while, because I felt like I didn't have a better alternative.
And I don't regret it. 😂

I totally agree with everything you said, and it’s good to know I wasn’t the only clueless person when starting Genshin 😂 I’m currently ar 55 and my luck has been insane, getting every one of my 5 stars under at around 20 pity! It makes me laugh whenever I think back to when I was only just starting my Genshin journey, and all those silly things I did and thought. I remember I used to spend my primos on the standard banner, and when I got my first 5 star (qiqi) I remember being so happy I nearly threw my iPad across the room. Unfortunately, I also fell down that trap of ‘bad’ and ‘good’ characters, but it’s so great that you also think any character can be super good if you put time and effort into building them! Anyway, thanks so much for sharing this video with us, It really put a smile on my face and would love some more videos like this! ❤❤ Take Care

The meta trap can be so overwhelming and I really don't understand why people make you feel bad for using characters that are not "good". I really wanted to emphasize it, since I've never really seen anyone mention it, all the advice videos I've seen are rather people saying that they regret raising non-meta characters, which is so bizarre to me! I hope everyone can play any character they want without the judgment of others ❤️
