Google Street View images are going to become one hell of a historical archive someday. I bet that at least 50-100 years from now, scientist are going to use them for sociological research on human behaviors. Such as counting how many people walked in certain areas at certain times per day or how tall average people were, or how many people used their cell phones in public, for example. The images will be such a valuable asset for people who want to study the history of fashion, architecture, and cars, among other things too.
This is so nostalgic going back to 2012 seeing stuff how it looked before it get reworked like markets or schools or playgrounds that haven't been built i love it
It's been more than 5 years since Google cars were in my city. Come on Google, there are new buildings, most of WIFI names have changed, it's time to update! Also, I haven't seen my new windows from the outside yet. Signed: Lazy Bastard

If you go to Cross Street, Galway, Ireland and look at the seats outside the pub named Tis Neachtains, you will see me drinking a beer on a sunny day. Purple hoodie, beside bearded man. A friend in America realised it was there when he was showing Galway to friends of his :)

I haven't asked what's their social med or even full name. Now I just took the screenshot of their opened store in Google map, they're my childhood memory.
What got me is they even have a street view of my puny little street. We are not even the biggest street in this tiny town yet they some how got our street.
Hey Linus, I was wondering if you could do a video on Microsoft's HoloLens. I know you usually wait to cover things until you can get your hands on the device, but I simply don't want to wait that long! Keep up the great work!
I suggest StreetView VR app for those using the Gear VR, I've been using it when I wanna see the street in VR. Samsung also announced that their upcoming spherical camera Gear 360 will work with Google Street View.
Another very common stitching problem is to put together images took months apart within a few feet. You can go from sunny and clear day to a cloudy one within 10 feet. I've seen buildings appear or disappear within a few frames.
i noticed that, also you could be in, say, october 2014 next minute JJuly 2013 or 2015, for instance. Also, cars or lorries in front of you on the country roads can disappear. (bit of computer wizardry, i suppose) other than that, it looks very realistic. Sometimes it crawls a bit, other times goes like a train! I know you dont see people moving or anything, but if you are going at a fast pace, you probably wouldnt notice anyway
I find it weird to think about how they've gone down my street in a rural English village, but maybe not to the capital city of some smaller countries 😅
I was seeing two men driving a bike, just above the drivers head, his helmet so close in the image and I could have been even abled to see the speed of his bike by the speedometer.
The title made me think that this was going to be about navigating the street view faster. However, I'm two minutes into this 5:50 video, and it's only been about history. I wish that Google Street View had an autoplay feature or a virtual tour mode of really cool areas so I didn't have to wear out my finger clicking over and over again.
Google once went through a street near my home and added it to street view. Said road got a gate and then they removed the street entirely from street view 😶
Thanks to the Old Farts anxiety for burglars scanning for houses via Streetview brought up by the media and their blurred houses, Google decided to just leave Germany alone, because those manual blurring is

my street just got updated, not even a year ago
I wish they would make them available like some sort of time machine.
There's a place in here that doesn't even exist anymore.
My street view of my town was updated only last year of November
My entire town has 2007 images
same, a few of the roads around me hasn't been updated since like 2009
fun fact: the statue of liberty's face is blurred out in street view

who?
Actually it would make a nice mini globe

The reason why they blur out the faces of people is for privacy , the company made the cameras and computer system to automatically blur out faces.
